  3. cool. heres some more, mainly french af with some LOW flying. impressive.. (mirages are cool..so are jaguars and super etendards..) :P www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dmx6sjuUJDM&mode=related&search=
  4. i am working night shift and in my breaks have been browsing youtube and found some great videos, i think many of you would enjoy.. :pilotfly: JASDF F15 video www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd79f71gpcg Super Etendards over Afghanistan www.youtube.com/watch?v=WByPkOTIULQ Super Etendards low (with crap music unfortunately) www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wd1Tj91CyU&mode=related&search== MiG25 propaganda video (again, crappy music, but interesting..) www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oSgHCXA7wk&mode=related&search== Su33's www.youtube.com/watch?v=9J05XhJ-N_U&mode=related&search== enjoy and feel free to add your own..
  5. some youtube vids related to the topic. i love the polishAF MiG23 low fly-by. so cool.. Polish AF F16 aerobatic display: http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5Cgf3akUx0&mode=related&search= Polish AF MiG23 low flyby http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZuCWnhoI1Y Polish AF MiG29 display http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0b4gLskKY1s&mode=related&search=
  6. mm..'low level deep penetrations' .. hehehe:P thats good news re: the superhornets..they sound very impressive. in terms of air superiority in the region, how do we compare with indonesia? i beleive they are operating a mix of upgraded F-5's, 12 F16 A/B models, Hawk109 and 209's and most recently a handful of SU-27SK and Su30MK's specced similarly to the IndianAF models..(apparently 12 on order?)
  7. i have not seen any of the polish f16s with the conformal fuel tanks. but i heard they were ordered, so will poland receive them? will be interesting to see how they look and the effect on the f16s performance. i heard the polish f16s will be equipped witht he joint helmet mounted cueing system. is this basically the same as the mig29/su27's schlemm? some more info on the weapons systems of the f16s: 22 of the f16s will be equipped with LM AN/AAQ-33 Pantera targeting pod 20 will be equipped with a built-in electronic warfare system (AN/ALQ-212) a large number of missiles and bombs have been purchased, including amraam c-5's and aim9x supersidewinders (now for the first time polish pilots will experience the 'tone'!) for a2a, as well as mavericks, JSOW JDAM and laser-guided bombs.. it looks like the f16s will be a definite leap forward compared to the current equipment! (though i still like the old migs and suki).
  8. ..and zywiec beers, by the looks of things! :D i saw an article on the subject of these recon pods in the latest airforces monthly magazine. indeed an impressive and useful system. poland will have 7 of these pods, i understand, and all will be on F16s of 10elt based at Lask.
  9. sorry to dig up this old thread.. in an old air forces monthly magazine (mid 90's) there was a photo of a polish AF Su-20. these are no longer in use i am assuming? were they used in the same role as the su-22's?
  10. that is very impressive. i guess what nscode is referring to is that compared to US or russian weapons manufacturers, the swedes have a more limmited real-combat experience.. however i understand that saab cooperated with BAe systems on some of these electronics too, and BAe have experience with their systems being used on RAF etc aircraft in several recent conflicts.. mm..this is a very interesting thread. gripen is definitely climbing my 'favourite aircraft' ladder hehe. (MiG 21 and 29 still my favourites though!)
  11. i will keep it alive (for a little longer..) bimbac, as a grippen fan you would be interested in this? :D or perhaps you have this book already? i have heard very good things about the aerofax series of books. in fact i am thinking of ordering a few on the internet, not sure where the best place to get them is? any suggestions? (of course it would have to be shipped to australia).
  12. :baby: jeez that looks AWESOME!!! stunning. i would LOVE to see that + fly it in a sim.. ....wow.
  13. nice link. impressive to see it is 9G capable, really it does look to be a great lightweight fighter.. i agree the gripen is a beautiful plane, especially the czech version (like in the pic i posted)..all-grey including country insignia looks great. ..im glad i started this thread! so many interesting info and links! :D wow, looks like there will be some interesting exercises in the next few years, hopefully we will get to see how these aircraft fare against eachother in air-to-air engagements.. bimbac, have you seen the new gripens in the skies over czech republic yet? i guess they are quieter than the old mig21s, will you be missing that beautiful tumanskii thunder?!
  14. interesting! sundowner, i got the info from rzeczpospolita.com ages ago, i remember it but cant find it now :( im pretty sure MiG offered the 29SE and F/A18's were offered in 1st round, but like you said 2nd round was between mirage, viper and gripen.. yeah from what everyone has said it looks like the viper has the most going for it for sure..true multirole capability including air-to-air, CAS and SEAD, easy integrtation with NATO, proven capability in these roles, etc etc.. ok, in a purely-air-to-air scenario, how does the viper compare to the mirage and gripen? oh, and here's some piccies i found on airliners.net (a great website, if any of you have not seen it) thought i'd share with u guys since theyre on topic i guess..:pilotfly:
  15. since i see many of you on the forum are avid military aviation enthusiasts and have a good knowledge on modern fighters, i was interested to hear opinions on this issue.. As a new NATO member from central-eastern europe, Poland has chosen the block 50+ F16C/D's as their replacement multi-role fighter, over other offers including the JAS 39 Gripen (this was chosen by the czechs), Mirage 2000-5/E, F/A-18C/D and MiG-29SE.. from memory the cost of the mirage fighters was signifficantly higher than other offers (~32million USD from memory?). Apparently the MiG was actually the favoured choice amongst the lower ranks (ie pilots) and offered cheap initial costs (~18million?) however from what i have read the running costs are signifficantly higher than western aircraft? Poland wanted some local involvement in maintanance/parts production which is i think a good idea, and both the Gripen and F16 offers allowed for this.. my questions are *why did czech republic opt for gripen and poland for F16? obviously there were political reasons as well as economical, but also aircraft performance and tactical ideas would have been considered.how do the planes compare? and the F/A-18C/D, MiG and Mirage? was the F16 the best choice? *will the f16 be able to perform duties of the MiG21,MiG29 and su22's as well as those aircraft have been doing? *how do these F16s compare with the latest Rafale, Eurofighter and american fighters? just interested in everyone's opinion on this subject and any discussion..:D
  16. im from adelaide too..most evenings, eh? whereabouts? and which version do u guys use?
  17. :helpsmilie: i have v1.01 of lomac. im playing the su27 campaign and having no success with mission 4. even when ive shot down the turkish f16's and f5's with no loss of russian aircraft, after landing the mission is failed? is it to do with the su24's im escorting targeting the SAMs instead of their primary objective which is a building of somesort i think? :joystick: what am i doing wrong? or is it some glitch with the mission? also, there is no russian MiG29 campaign. is there one available in a downloadable update? i'd love to fly the 29 in a campaign.. and a question regarding online play. i have dial-up and never played anything online. what is involved? can i even play online with dial-up only? sorry for the noob questions guys..
  18. are there many australians on this forum? :D do u guys play online at all? like an 'online squadron' of somesort? also, ne1 going to avalon airshow this year? it will be my 1st airshow! i heard it will be the USAF's 60th anniversary, so they will have a big presence apparently..
  19. thnx 4 the welcome guys! i'll look intot he updates. i was considering them but bit wary as my computer is just running it smoothly on low settings.im worried updates would make it run slower? oh, incase its not obvious im a complete noob with computers-pls excuse me! ps czesc poko! jest chyba kilku polakow na tej stronie?! u should visit your family in aus, it would b a good experience for u! (if u dont mind the 12+6hrs flight!) if u ever do visit, dont expect to spot any RAAF action though, much rarer to see flybys than in PL..(aah reminds me of my visit to poland in '93..a pair of MiG21's overhead almost daily! love that tumanskii thunder!)
  20. hi! im new on the forum, thought id introduce myself. my names szymon im from australia, born in poland. im a big fan of lock on, only discovered it recently. i have v 1.01. my interests are cars (i drive an integra typeR and do some club motorsport, dunno if that means anything to any of you?) and planes, particularly military aviation. :pilotfly: oh, my favourite planes would have to be MiG21, MiG29, Su 27, and i generally have a soft spot for russian military types :D but i can appreciate others too.. anyway hope to be enlightened by you all! rgds -sz
