  1. Thanks guys. That looks like it. I thought I went through all the radar bindings and couldn't find it. Maybe it's not in "radar"
  2. Thank you Snappy. I still can't get it to work though. The TL mode has no binding and if I use the radar mode selector is gets skipped. It really looks like it was removed with the patch. Does any body have radar ACM mode working since the patch?
  3. I fired up the F1 after a few weeks break and had to rebind the keys, but I can't remember how I had the radar bound. I had it set up so I could turn on the IR missiles and then switch the radar in to a vertical scan mode. Does the radar still have this mode? I don't recall what it was called in the F1 and I can't figure out how to get it working again.
  4. I'm waiting for the gyro to align before I turn on the HUD but sometimes the Gyro doesn't quite align. I thought we could just turn if off and on again to realign but I am mistaken.
  5. I loath the F-15E at this point. I fully intend on Not buying it twice, in disgust, when it comes out. I own the F-16 and FA-18 but never fly them. Not really interested in 4 Gen, BVR, targeting pods, GPS bombs ect... Another blue plane with all the same weapons I already don't use. The MiG-23 is exactly my taste and exactly what we need to balance the cold war line up. Putting the most produced Redfor 3rd Gen on the back burner so we can get yet another 4th Gen Bluefor... Razbam, You were supposed to bring balance to the RedForce ! Not join NATO!
  6. I only fly ECW. Keep practising on there and you will get better. You can climb away from the older planes that have no after burner. I use the F-1 as a strike fighter with the parachute bombs which are great for one pass haul ass. If you get intercepted turn into them and a single radar 530 under centre gives you a head on shot and just blow through and run for home. Avoiding long dogfights with nimble MiG21 can still be a lot of fun. Even the MiG struggles to catch you flat out on the deck.
  7. Thanks for the correction. I should have read the whole thread before I replied. I'm amazed you could hear it in the real plane. Maybe they wanted the pilots to always hear the fuel burn rate and always be aware of it. PSI assumed it was a bug which was a big part of why it was so annoying. Knowing it is a feature to keep the pilots aware of fuel use I'll give it another chance, but probably will at least turn it down when the option is available.
  8. OMG ! I havn't flown DCS since the FFB broke. I was really enjoying the Mirage F1 and losing FFB put me in such a bad mood I refused to fly any DCS. When the FFB was finally fixed I was so happy I updated the patch went to the shops and was arriving home to fly after weeks grounded. I slipped broke my right wrist. No DCS for many more weeks. Now today, I finally have healed enough to fly the beloved Mirage F1 ! I load in to Enigma server load up, taxi, take off and..... WTF is that fucking clicking noise !!!!!! AAGGGHHHHHHH I had to turn around and land and bang my head on the keyboard to ease the pain. Oh well first world problems eh. Yeah sounds like the fuel counter to me too. PS as for people saying "be a man". It's absurdly loud on my system. I mean the fuel counter clicking is so loud it overpowers out the sound of a jet engine in after burner! This can't be dismissed as realistic.
  9. Mirage F1 is probably my favourite module right now and I was super excited to fly the F1-EE version but both versions have no FFB since the last patch. The FFB and flight model is very satisfying and challenging. Aerges has done a great job releasing their first module with few bugs. Really looking forward to flying it again soon?
  10. So excited to so disappointed in about 10 seconds. We still don't have the most produced 3rd gen plane types. That's what I'm interested in.
  11. So I've been flying the F1 a bit and getting the hang of it. Loving it too. For the third time in two days I have taken off, retracted gear and flaps, turned to heading and levelled off and then hit the two buttons that turn on attitude autopilot. Nine times out of ten it works great and holds my attitude for climb/cruise. However occasionally, as soon as I turn it on my plane suddenly noses over and my pilot passes out from the negative G. From then on it is unrecoverable because I assume the autopilot holds the negative G until the plane hits the ground. Is this a bug or a feature? Am I doing it wrong? Any help, suggestions ?
  12. I just flew the F1 after months away. I was flying super sonic about 30 000 ft and descended with out backing off the throttle. When I went below 10 000 ft and over sped doing about 1.5 M. The controls locked up, the nose wondered and tucked. It felt like I was lucky to regain control. If this is realistic then great. It makes me wonder why this doesn't happen to more planes in DCS? Or what are the specifics of what is happening. I have read that high speed, low altitude flight is limited by the melting temp of aluminium. I knew about the sped limits but I was expecting the engine to just flame out. Not the controls to lock up. PS I just tested it again at high speed low alt and didn't lock up or Mach tuck. So maybe it was battle damage earlier.
  13. I was getting a small stutter every 30 seconds. It was playable but it ruins the feeling of speed and flight. It was the preload. I had it maxed out. I turned it down to 30 000 and not it runs smoothly.

  15. I'm getting stutter in Syria. It's not really bad stutter but it's not great either. Just enough to ruin the feeling of flight. Runs better offline but on Enigma's Cold War just now it was kinda meh.
  16. So I guess the advantage of the 530 IR over EM is that it is fire and forget. But the radar still gives away my presence. Can F1 fire it with out turning on the radar?
  17. I have been learning to fly it in offline mission against AI MiG21 .The AI sticks to the vertical and the 21 out climbs and out dives the Mirage. But the Mirage is surprisingly good at low speed, high alpha. Very close match to the MiG21 it this regard. Looking forward to multiplayer Mig21 v Mirage F1 . I love how the Mirage engine flames out when I fly through jet wash at close range ... This should maybe be a feature of all early jet engines in DCS ?
  18. I usually try to only bind the controls actually on the real stick and throttle and use the mouse in my left hand to flip switches in the cockpit. Lefty mousing was awkward at first but I'm used to it now. The F1 has almost no HOTAS and some of the controls needed for dog fighting are hidden from view on the left side .I imagine the pilot would use these by feel with training . Obviously this can be a disadvantage online if my opponent has bound everything in his F1 like an F-16 HOTAS but I like to think this captures the some of the character of the older planes I like flying. If that means dying head down in the cockpit looking for switches then so be it. Do you guys do this? Or is this just going too far?
  19. It's laughable to quote a 1968 definition of FBW in 2022 and think that all modern definitions are wrong. The presence of the computer is why we are even talking about it . If the signals are transmitted by wire instead of physical means then it will fly roughly the same way anyway. If the pilot pulls too hard and drops a wing that will happen either way. But a computer between the pilot and the surfaces will intervene to stop the stall. If there is no computer the F1, it will not fly like any other DCS FBW plane. I love FFB. The Mig21 going supersonic... I chop throttle and pull into a turn. The FFB changes as the plane goes trans sonic. I don't have to look at the dial to know I just went through 1.2 mach. So much nuance is lost giving up FFB. It amazes me so many fly without it. I guess I only really fly the older non FBW planes. FFB is much richer in the older planes. Of course I will be disappointed if FFB is not working in Mirage F1 on release.
  20. Thanks for the reply. Yeah I was in F-14-a, wings out, hook up to cat.... I regularly get it to work but I made my own mission and it just won't let me go. Does any one even know what the "no go" signal means. He wave it back and forward.
  21. I have been playing with the Super carrier offline. Much more to it than I expected. But the Yellow shirt Director works fine till my plane is ready for launch and then won't give the sign to spin up t he engine. He instead waves a no go signal with he hand low back and forth. This signal is not even in the Docs... What can I do? Salute , shift U, don't work and no explanation of why.
  22. Gee I hadn't even considered that possibility that it is deliberately limited. I assume that kind of limiting is usually in elevator but I don't know that with any certainty. I did some practice offline against an AI F-5E and I see that in a typical manoeuvring fight I am often slowed down enough that the rudder isn't totally locked up the way it is when flying straight at top speed. So it's not as bad as I thought in practice. Still it is hard to aim the gun at high speed.
  23. I'm aiming with my eyes only. I haven't worked out the radar ranging. My shooting is generally quite good in most planes. But I tend too like flying with rudder rolls at high alpha. Flying a plane where I can't to that means I gotta learn to aileron roll to shoot I guess. It is normal for the rudder to practically lock up at high speed in the mig 19 isn't it?
