  1. Great answers guys. Very much appreciate it. Seems odd the videos all seem to skip or gloss over this important step.
  2. So there is no point in putting mixture to 'auto mixture' because it just is not going to pull in the fuel? Is there any harm in doing so? Moving the lever forward is 'auto'?
  3. I have noticed that there seems to be an evolution on mixture control on the Spits from the Mk.1 to the 9. Somewhere along the line there seemed to be two positions on mixture - Auto Lean and Auto Rich to the Spit 9 where it is mixture cut off and just plain auto mixture. Is my perception right that there is indeed a difference between Auto lean/rich and cut off/auto? Or is it all just terms that mean the same thing? Why on cold start does the pilot (from all the videos of Spit 9 that I have watch) that the pilot only moves mixture to AUTO after pushing starter and boost coil buttons?
  4. Art-J, you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned 'game flight mode'. I went into OPTIONS > GAMEPLAY > DIFFICULTIES and unchecked GAME FLIGHT MODE and GAME AVIONICS MODE. I must have had those on when I was first learning to 'fly'.
  5. I checked the joystick for the pitch in the Axis Tune Panel and it looks just as it should be. I also checked elevator trim on the CH THROTTLE QUADRANT and it too showed just as it should. I assume Skewgear that is what you mean by checking that the stick is registering properly.
  6. I am flying the Spitfire and using a Trustmaster T.16000M stick and a CH Throttle Quadrant. The issue I face is that the Spit wants to climb way to hard. I have an axis on the Quadrant for the elevator trim and from what I see in the cockpit wheel moving and what the gauge for the elevator trim all shows just what you would expect. But I have to fight the plane to keep it level regardless of having the elevator trim showing all the way to nose down on the guage. And ideas? It works fine in Cliffs of Dover and BoX.
  7. What is 'BVR' environment? After one or two circles will they stop that? If I am in a plane that is much better at turning and the AI is better and zoom and boom will it zoom and boom or try to get in a turn fight with me. And for the opposite, if I am in a plane better suited at zoom and boom compared to the AI, will it try to turn or burn or match me in zoom and boom?
  8. What is the behavior of AI fighters? The things I am thinking about is when I engage an AI enemy fighter will it continue to fight until I or it crashes? As opposed to fighting only x amount of minutes and then goes into a drone mode, don't bother me. Will the AI dog fight according to the strengths and weakness of the fight plane it is flying? As opposed to just a generic model. Some game sims have levels of AI the only real difference is the accuracy of the shooting. I don't recall if DCS has a selecting level for AI. If it does, is it more than just accuracy of shooting?
  9. I have updated or changed the Labels.lua file. Yet the old values or how the labels appear in game still show up that way. I even removed the file completely from the View folder and I still have the labels in game. I thought I might cause a game crash but it did not. I do not use Steam for DCS. Any clues?
  10. Thanks dburne. Touch Motion Controllers (TCM) First, on the two Oculus Rift hand sets 'Touch Motion Controllers' the buttons on left control and the right control do different things. The upper trigger: closes top finger The lower trigger: closes the lower three fingers and laser points out of top finer You can grab something by just those fingers. You don't need to close the index finger. And you can touch things by the index finger, You don't have to use the laser pointer. You can use the laser pointer to touch dials and buttons. And to activate the 'touch' squeeze the index finger. But it will be a left mouse click if you have the virtual hand palm down (green laser) and a right mouse click if palm up (blue laser). Sensor pad: It is not a physical button! It is next to the A and B or X and Y buttons. When you touch it the thumb moves down, Not sure what good that does. To get right and left mouse button clicks depends on how you hold the controller. Palm up, blue laser, right click Palm down, green laser, left click. Each TCM has a thumb stick. Kind of like many joy sticks. Not only do they rotate you can press down on them to click. At this time I do not know if that can be used by DCS. Y Reset virtual head B ? X Pauses game, brings up menu A zoom in 'start button': Oculus button: takes you out of game to Oculus room I noticed that in DCS the switches seem to respond easily. And it seems easy to grab somethings like the joystick. Then there is the Radar Range Sweep Settings Rheostat knob that turns on a continuous range. However, Somethings seem hard to control. As an example the weapon selector knob in a Saber. It seems easy to turn it to the left but not to the right. That is because you have to have the TCM 'palm up' or 'palm down' depending on which direction you want to turn the knob. And the Landing and taxi Lights Switch seems to easily move down but not up. With Oculus Rift controllers, push buttons and switches now works when touching them. Make a fist with only the index finger out, and slightly put the finger on the switches instead of pointing them from distance with the laser beams, when a knob having your fist done it's like having the right click presses actually, so it rolls the knobs you touch if you leave it on or move clockwise or counter clockwise, like the Course Selector switch (CRS) switch you move the switch the direction you want and leave it. The flat captive sensor 'Touch Secondary Thumb rest'' on both controllers has no mapping implementation. DCS: You can't program the buttons and thumbsticks in DCS. All Touch options are hardcoded in the game.
  11. Oculus Rift and Touch Motion Controllers: How does one set a button or thumstick of the Touch Motion Controllers to the control setting in DCS? I hoped that going into the control settings and looking to the columns to the right for input devices that I would see a column for Oculus Rift Touch Motion Controllers. That does not seem to be the case. I suspect it can not yet be done.
  12. Thanks outbaxx for the hint on the saturation Y to 50. However, I am trying to use the breaks on the BF 109 and the Spit. It seams that touching the breaks locks them up. And nothing seems to unlock the breaks. Is there a solution to this or is it just me?
  13. I downloaded it but I see nothing about moving the whole Eagle Dynamacis folder or whatever to another folder location.
  14. I just bought an NVMe M.2 drive and have it installed. I have DCS on a platter drive and want to move the game to the M2 drive. I want to keep my settings and such but should I go to the other of re-installing DCS on the M2 drive or can I just copy the whole Eagle Dynamics folder to the M2 drive?
  15. Thanks Rudel. I got that. But if I save a profile and I want to use that when is the right time to load it. Right now I am waiting until I start an instant action.
  16. How does one select the game aircraft controls. Here is the context. I am checking out DCS and I have the P-51D. I want to use 'GENERAL' controls rather than P-51D Real or even EASY. I have tried clicking the gear icon and choosing controls and then the set I want. But when I go into an instant action it will always use the REAL. My only work around is to pause, escape, again choose the control set I want and then continue the game. I did poke about in the forum and searched but could not find an answer.
  17. If black for a dot is too visable another color will do. But I don't know what the values are for the colors.
  18. CS and change labels to black dots You can try this modification of "Labels.lua" Labels will now appear as black dots with no additional info. E:\Programs\Games\DCS World\Config\View AirFormat = {} AirFormat[10] = "" AirFormat[5000] = "}" AirFormat[10000] = "}" AirFormat[20000] = "]" AirFormat[30000] = "'" GroundFormat = {} GroundFormat[5000] = "{" GroundFormat[10000] = "~" GroundFormat[20000] = "`" NavyFormat = {} NavyFormat[10000] = "{" NavyFormat[20000] = "~" NavyFormat[40000] = "`" WeaponFormat = {} WeaponFormat[5000] = "[" WeaponFormat[10000] = "|" WeaponFormat[20000] = "|" -- Colors in {red, green, blue} format, volume from 0 up to 255 ColorAliesSide = {0, 0, 0} ColorEnemiesSide = {0, 0, 0}
  19. How to copy profile from one plane to another like the TF-51D to the P-51D Given that you decided to try DCS out and changed many of the keyboard and joystick commands from the default to something you like better. Then you decide to go ahead and buy the P-51D. You discover all your changes don’t exist for the P-51D. You even try to load the profile (that is what it is called) that you had saved for the TF-51D but find that no matter what you do you never really get those commands as you set them. SOLUTION: The values are stored here: C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input And you will see several subfolders like Default P-51D TF-51D And in each of those folders you will see these subfolders Joystick Keyboard Mouse Tracker And say in Joystick you will have a file for each joystick controller you have. I have one for CH Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals, and SideWinder Force Feedback 2 Joystick What I did was make a backup of the P-51D folder and then replaced the folders/files in the P-51D folder with what I have in the TF-51D folder.
  20. I was looking for a 'how to' for the game but I am not finding it. Anyway, I set up all my keys and such as I like them when I was messing with the game while flying the training P-51. I saved the changes. I think this is called a profile. I decided to lay my money down and downloaded the p-51d. I then found that it was using a default profile. I thought I found the way to load the profile I saved for the trainer but nothing I do seems to load that profile for the fighter. Any hints?
  21. So is there any servers that often do have people much of the time that does have labels turned on.
  22. Are labels controlled by the server? I am interested in flying the WWII planes in a server that has labels on. I suspect that I will be out of luck. As of now I have been checking out DCS and have set labels to just be dots which is just what I like.
