  1. As title. I get tired of starting a carrier based mission only to start up and find I'm on a none Supercarrier deck.
  2. tbh on any mission, I would love a simple toggle for time of day, dawn, daytime, dusk, midnight. It would make missions more interesting to do the same mission at different times of the day, without having to mess about in mission editor
  3. nearly 4 years after this post was created we still have poor pilots dying every time they eject over water....
  4. I've bought most modules but I'm utterly bored with DCS now. Like many I've spent a fortune on the F-14, F-18, Supercarrier and Persian Gulf etc and I'm on a carrier deck with a low res S-3 Viking and SH-60 Sea Hawk. I've repeatedly mentioned this on Facebook page but it's on the to do list apparently. How hard would it be - it is it spoils the immersion. Maybe they've updated them already, I don't know, I haven't been inclined to play DCS much in last few months. Utterly bored. I've asked for a check list for training missions or some sort of success rate that you can look to tick each one off and improve on, never happened that I know of. I spent a fortune, built my pc around DCS but I have no current inclination to buy more modules and a VR headset because I'm just so bored of it. There's no fun in DCS, for me anyway. That's my 2 cents worth. Sorry to sound negative, there's so much that's good about it but I log on and think ok what now and switch off after 10 minutes.
  5. Agreed. Apologies for double post as I realise @MacSurfyhas already posted something along same lines.
  6. Would there be a way to indicate which missions you have completed previously for each mission, either a tick or even better a score indicator. There's a big long list of single missions now for each aircraft and it would be great especially for newer pilots to easily identify which missions they have completed on the mission selection screen and which they have not. If it could be scored it would be even better to have a full page of 100%s to work towards. Just a thought.
  7. Yeah, he used to be in a little inflatable. You couldn't do anything after that but at least he didn't die and a death recorded in logbook. SAR and rescue would be brilliant but they can't even update the god awful low-res rescue helo now so this would be ages away. Would make some great missions though.
  8. My bad, there's some stuff in the F-14 Instant Action, I just presumed there'd be some F-18 missions. If there's been an announcement on this, I've obviously missed it.
  9. Ridiculous, they don't make these things easy do they
  10. If my memory serves me correctly, with the original Lock On, when the pilot ejected over water he ended up lying on his back chilling out in a raft did he not? Not sure why it was ever removed. Adding a raft isn't high priority, it's not like you're just going to sit watching him bob about. It only potentially serves to save a death in the logbook (assuming you got rescued). And I think with other priorities it'd be pointless to be rescued for the same reason above, unless you can play the role of a SAR pilot but that's probably even further off.
  11. I'd like to be able to declare an emergency landing (if need be) at any airfield and especially a carrier. I'd also like your home base to be the first option in the radio comms when selecting from the list, it would make it so much easier to do by feel rather than looking at the list. Thanks.
  12. How is this handled in the L39 online? I can't say I've flown it much online but never had issues with being ejected. I sometimes have had someone pull the hood over my head mind haha
  13. Seriously Cobra, take as long as it takes. I'm 42, I've waited since the ZX Spectrum days for a flight simulator of this calibre. I for one can wait longer.
  14. Keep drinking, it's Saturday night after all
  15. A few people need to get away from their computer a bit and get out a bit more. Life isn't all DCS ffs, just as it isn't with the developers. No one forced anyone to pre-purchase (I pre-purchased). A polished product, even in early access needs to be right.
  16. Can't say I ever noticed an AI plane bolter, or catch any other wire than the 3rd. Would be nice when I'm sitting on deck or in a pattern, for AI craft to behave just like regular humans. Also, when sitting on deck watching a plane land, after it lands, it seems to stop, retract hook, move forward to taxi in one motion quite quickly. I'd prefer to see it stop, retract hook a couple of seconds later then a couple more at least before it moves to taxi. I appreciate IRL there is the need to move out of the way asap but in game it happens too quickly, it looks fake. Mind, I'm nit-picking.... haha.
  17. 10 now 42. I used to watch on VHS one of the dogfights/hops each day before I went to school aged about 13/14
  18. There's a quite a few things wrong in your post. :smilewink:
  19. Agreed. It is difficult even with a tracking solution to see around the throttle.
  20. I agree with troye. F4 often brings up a forward looking view sitting over the wing. You can rotate the camera and zoom in and out but so much more helpful to be able to look behind properly. Maybe it's because it isn't a very realistic view they removed it?
  21. Watching that video (and others) I really feel the sense of speed is much clearer than in DCS. There's times when I'm flying low level and look at the boat, trees etc and think it doesn't look at all like I'm doing 600knots. I don't think it's an accurate representation in DCS. Even if it is, it doesn't at all seem like it.
  22. 15 year old Saitek Cyborg Evo - due for upgrade. Personally I prefer a stick mounted throttle. I've tried a Thrustmaster T flight but found my arm was aching holding the throttle. I need to look at my ergonomics and setup but I'm limited for space. It's funny but I've spent so much on modules but I've really overlooked one of the most important bits of interacting with them.
  23. Doh! Yes, I mean raise their hook! Thanks for the spot. Post edited above.
  24. I know it's early days but can something be done about the fact I've seen numerous times two Hornets coming in to land, one a few hundred feet behind the other. First one lands, second one crashes into the first. On the quick start mission, carrier take off, if we all RTB, I land, the second lands in good time but the third and fourth cause the issue. Also, they tend to taxi, without damage, through the static parked planes. On another issue I love landing and watching the returning Hornets but one other thing which doesn't look real is when an AI Hornet lands, they trap, slow to a halt, drop their hook and immediately start moving forward to taxi. It just doesn't look right, watching clips on YT they tend to stop, raise their hook and a few seconds passing before moving forward to taxi. Sometimes they are even dragged back a few feet first. It all happens too quickly in DCS. Mind, I'm nit picking. I absolutely LOVE the Hornet model. It's literally blown me away and at the ripe age of 42, it's the sort of thing I could only have dreamed of one day from the early years of playing aeroplane arcadey and sim style games. Thanks to everyone involved with it's development. I've spent a fortune on modules and I'm in the process of a whole new pc build. ££££ :)
  25. How come this always leads to pilot death? Is there not a life raft or something, I'm sure there used to be.
