  1. Don't listen to me. Listen to GA, that is a much easier way of doing it, but you gotta be precisely on top of it or the camera won't fall completely vertically.
  2. Lol, use your imagaination, I tried a helo too but that didn't work so instead I just ejected from high alt, waited for the chute to deploy and then unlocked (Shift+Esc), swiveled the camera so it faces away from me and then lock again (Shift+Esc). You can either speed up time in the sim or speed up time in the editing later on. It's a bit tedious but works fine. You can also make it so you land in the middle of an airfield or something else more interesting than sheep, just use trial and improvement. Here I set it up so I land in the middle of a busy airfield... ...it takes a little bit of time to get it all working right but you can land pretty much anywhere. If you want that mission file so you can set up your own movie intro or whatever just ask.
  3. This only works in real time. If you play back the video edited track it forgets the padlock and keeps the camera on the AI jet not following your own, which basically means it's useless for anyone without Fraps.
  4. Wow....brilliant model. I dunno how they got the polys low enough with that detailing, great job  Also, if you're mad about details, then feast your eyes (have patience). Now give em another feast. That guy is insane :D
  5. I enjoyed it. Good angles, good skins, nice feel to it. I particularly liked the weather...most movie makers leave it on overcast/sunny; thunderstorm is much more interesting. Looks promising.
  6. Possibly because their internet is soooooo slow, they actually submit it at the right time and it takes two years for it to be posted (maybe they were on a 65k lol)? :) Nice pics though, I love the sixth one down with the sunset.
  7. OK mate, I remember having this problem for a while too. The problem is the Cineform codec, you've gotta remove it but unfortunately it won't remove itself from the Device Manager however many times you click remove. To do so, follow these steps: 1) I would make a system restore point first. You never know. 2) Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and delete cfhd.dll. 3) Hit Windows+R or go Start>Run and type in regedit, hit enter. 4) In regedit search for cineform and delete everything you come across. It would be wise to make a backup of your registry first lol. 5) Now search for cfhd and delete everything you come across. Restart. 6) I would compress and optimise the registry, then restart again, but that's up to you. 7) Anyway...go to Device Manager>Video codecs again and check if Cineform is there. It shouldn't be. If it is try removing it, if it just comes back again try restoring and doing all the steps again. If that doesn't work than sorry mate, I've been of no use. But if it isn't you should be good to go. Fire up LO and try and record a track of a few secs with numbered screenies. You can join them together by dragging the first one into VirtualDub later on. 8) If all's gooood, then your screenies should be in C:\bla bla\LO dir\Movies Hope that helps you and good luck, this problem can be a real pain :) Edit: Meh random smilies screwed up step 8
  8. Thanks. Enjoyed the movie btw, made me realise how beautiful LO can be :) How about the final render (with music/editing etc)? And what exactly did you cleanup in xp?
  9. Downloading...thanks for sharing. I'm interested in you're workflow from LO to HD...? I would love to make an HD movie but LO's ingame render tool doesn't work and rendering is hell. I just made a movie just now...4 minutes, 1440x1080 and all it was was a black screen with a soundtrack. 33gig.
  10. I had to choose the Eagle. Not because I think it's the best there, just because it's one of the few that has proven itself time and time again in tricky situations. I would love to have chosen the Eurofighter; it looks superb in airshows and its impressive on paper, but I can't, because it has not proven itself. Many of the jets there seem to be the best, but you just cannot tell until they have proved their worth in combat. Also, the Eagle is used very widely. Israel, Japan and Saudi Arabia all use them extensively, and other countries have Eagles in their hangars too. Surprised you have not put down the F-22 in the poll. I see that as the best fighter jet in the world in terms of combat effectiveness, but far, far too expensive.
  11. Completely agree with you Sleek. You can't find that level of realism (on the ground) and immersion in any other game. It's like a meatier version of BF2. And no, it's not a flight sim. You have to buy it to shoot more than to fly. I only usually fly the choppers to get me from one place to another quicker, and I rarely fly the jets. Interested to see why so many bought the game, and then returned it...I can see why you would be disappointed with the avionics, but it's primarily a ground sim, if you buy it for the flying alone then yes, you will be disappointed. And the greatest thing is...it supports TrackIR :) Infantry combat with that thing looks just incredible.
  12. sp0nge...Andrew has hit the nail on the head there. Making a LO movie will be hard, but all you need is determination and patience. I can Fraps ok, and I'm learning Premiere quickly, but I'm way off my movie yet. And I expect that in a few weeks, if not months, I will still be a long way off my movie. Don't be disheartened by something that doesn't work out! As for alternative programs, there is Game Cam There's a Basic version which is free but when I tried that I wasn't impressed, but I know a few who swear by it, so it's worth a go. Also in looking for Game Cam's website I found another one that might be of interest...ZD Soft Game Recorder. I'm gonna try it out right now and see how it is, but I don't know anyone who's ever used it before. Well...LO failed to load when it was running, but I got DOD:S up, but failed to connect to a server before the 60sec time limit kicked me out. So that was probably a waste of time lol. If you could get hold of a full version then, I dunno, maybe it's worth it.
  13. A few choppers and that Harrier there are flyable. There's also loads of tanks and vehicles, and patrol boats and rafts. It's semi-realistic, it's a blend between realism and simplicity. Nothing like the complexity of LO, but still relatively realistic (more LO than BF2). And yes, you should get it. It's an incredible game, takes FPS to a new level. And there's already a thriving modding community round it and it's only going to get better.
  14. You can in Premiere. Taken from the Help Center: I see no reason why Vegas would be different, but you'd have to ask someone who uses Vegas.
  15. Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 AMD Sempron 3400+ 1.82GHz (from memory) 1GB of RAM nVidia GeForce 7300LE It's a bit worse than your computer. I get 10FPS while recording, all settings on highest possible. Check if antialising is turned off... And if you're still having problems, and you're still having to slow down loads, try to speed up then re-render in VirtualDub. This makes a huge file, but you can still edit it as normal in Vegas. Look in the attachment for some instructions. virtualdub_instructions.txt
  16. Whenever I zoom in so I can pan later on this the quality of the footage goes right down, as in unrecognisable. Any way I can minimise the loss in quality?
  17. I have it, and I hate it. It pops up annoying windows in games all the time, the ingame interface is just plain annoying because it's always ontop and so clunky, and it's pointless for me, since CS:S has Steam and LO has Hyperlobby. Black_Hawk, set your keybind as two keys. This happened to me when I first set it up, after changing it from Scroll Lock to something like Ctrl+Q it worked. If you want an alternative to TS, get Vent. Edit: I'll give XFire this, it's very multi-game. You can chat to someone on BF2 while you're playing LO. You can also use it as a game and server manager, which no other program can do. That's good.
  18. This might help, but don't take it from me. I have been living under a rock recently :)
  19. In Fraps, go to FPS tab, and change Overlay Display Hotkey to something you don't use for camera angles eg. Scroll Lock. The default is F11 if I remember correctly, that's why it disappears when you press F11. I had the exact same problem. If that doesn't work, go through every hotkey in Fraps options and change it to something not used for camera angles. As for your FPS problem, compensate. If you're getting FPS at around 10 slow down twice (so it's three times slower) and so you can get 30 frames per second in your final render. If it's higher, only slow down once. It doesn't really matter what FPS you're at when you're recording, just that FPS when recording multiplied by the amount you slow the game down equals whatever FPS you set in Fraps [Movie Tab]. Hope that helps you, and wasn't too hard to understand.
  20. Nope, but the quality is good. I can take that into DivX now and compress it even further if I wanted. In fact, I'll do just that :) Let you know my results when I'm done. Edit: Just over 4mb with no loss in quality or resolution. But I reckon 30mb a minute for 1152x864 is pretty good going.
  21. Quick question for you GA, those 3 tests are WMV, but am I right in thinking AE doesn't export WMV...? Anyway, really nice work. Can see that adding a lot of realism to your future movies.
  22. Woooo!! I've done it! :D I'm working around large file sizes Andrew by recording very short clips in Fraps, speeding em up, rendering that and then deleting the Fraps file. What I was doing wrong was selecting the wrong way to export in Premiere. Anyway, now I can encode WMV, and good quality WMV at that :D If you wanna see a 8 sec clip of me flaring randomly, then here ya go: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R5ZYZZZ8 I'm so proud, lol, can't imagine what a feeling it is when you actually made a proper movie and not just a short clip. Expect to see a (rubbish ;)) movie coming from me in the far future, that's if I get the hang of Premiere.
  23. AMD Sempron 3400+ Gefore 7300LE 1gig RAM Windows XP Home SP2
  24. AA is turned off, I think, can't find it anywhere in LO but in nVidia CP it's turned off. Can't find any WMV option in Premiere, but I tried Quicktime instead. Even bigger file, even worse quality.
