  1. Thanks! That’s what I was think. Unfortunately I changed my topic question and post altogether so my apologies. But yeah, I think your right. Anyways, see new topic as posted, and thanks.
  2. I have a friend who is for the first time in his life thinking of getting into flight simming. He says he’s getting a bit burnt out on the console games and wants to come back over to the PC. Even talking about upgrading his graphics card to a 1070Ti. I’m thinking of IL2 definitely for him for starters as he seems to have to have no interest in WW1 flight, which in my opinion, would be a little more suited for him for beginning with but oh well. Plus you can ‘dumb down’ the realism settings in IL2 in order to keep the frustration factor low in the beginning but still have the pucker factor of fast paced furballs. In so far as jumping into DCS 2.5 world of flight, I’m thinking a good natural starting point would be the SU-25 as it’s a package deal but also perhaps a good starting point to learn the various advance weapons systems as compared to a WW2 aircraft. (He’s flown DCS World on my system once and was telling our mutual friend how much he thought of it). I know if he takes to flight simming he’ll want to jump right into an F-15 or the new Hornet but the catch is his frustration level. I believe the steeper learning curve/frustration level would overcome any desire to fly anymore and that would be the end of it. Anyone’s two cents would be appreciated as I don’t know if my so-called “strategy” on this is even on target or not. I guess the gist is I’d really like to see him come over to the PC flight sim world as he’s the type of guy who would I think have a blast, but don’t want him to reach the level of frustration in learning stuff that he just returns his stick and peddles and gives up altogether and goes back to the point and click shooters. Am I on base with this or no? I’ll thank everyone in advance, as always! :)
  3. I know this is an older OP topic but thought I’d give my two cents anyways. I’ve had he same CH Combatstick and CH rudder pedals for God knows how long. Since they don’t require drivers knock on wood, I’ve never ever had a problem using either and that’s going through 3 custom rig builds I’ve done and I don’t remember how many Windows versions. The rudder pedals to this day are smooth as silk and the Combatstick was an upgrade to the original stick they came out with. Have never had other one apart for any reason. Never have needed to. I fly DCS, IL2 and XPlane 11 exclusively with them both and have never had an issue. Granted, some of the axis needed to be reversed but big deal. The only thing I shyed away from was the CH Products Control Manager software. It always seemed to give me more problems than it was worth. Many will disagree with me on that but that’s just been my experience with it.
  4. So it’s my understanding that aircraft carriers in DCS 2.5 indeed have pitching decks then, from what I have read here. I guess I could go online and do some Russian a/c to find out. The rolling deck wouldn’t so much faze me as a vastly pitching deck would. In some of the real life vids I’ve watched on the more noticeable days when a pitching deck was present a lot of the F-18’s were given wave offs. I agree though, setting the sea perimeters would be kinda nice beyond just the weather perimeters. Calm, rough, etc. and perhaps the sim would adjust the weather/winds appropriately as swells perhaps work in unison with the weather? The one vid I watched had the carrier doing some pretty heavy pitching during landing procedures but the weather as filmed on deck seemed really nice. I guess carrier location on the seas and ocean swells play a big part in it. Does anybody have a vid from on deck of a carrier in DCS which shows the amount of pitching?
  5. Good vids. From them I take it the carrier(s) themselves have no pitch or roll? From the deck cam they appear to be as steady as a rock.
  6. Eternal Beta Congrats. One of the reasons I don’t bite on aircraft as soon as they are released is the bugs aren’t worked out until way, way after initial release, some if even then on some aircraft. Hence the “eternal beta rut”. I give them two thumbs up on fighting against the eternal beta approach. Seems like in DCS it’s more or less the norm for releases to be in beta mode for what seems like an eternity. Personally, I’d rather have a finished product before they shove their resources into the next greatest thing. Finish baking what you’ve got first before running off to find another recipe to make - whatever the hell that means. No disrespect to the OP. Always fun to dream tho.
  7. Updated to latest sound drivers, no luck. It's a bug. Cut out occurs whether doing Mach 1 or lower. Doesn't matter.
  8. Yeah...I think waiting going on three years is pretty patient, regardless.
  9. Just as the title says, while flying the SU-33 and the F-15C in cockpit the sound never cuts out. However, when the aircraft is viewed using the default F2 and F3 keys at some point the sound will stop. After a random amount of time (say 15 seconds or so) the sound will kick back in. Sometimes you can hear it start and stop for a fraction of a second like its trying to get started again before it "takes hold" and acts normally. It's a random effect. Interestingly enough, I tried before logging on this morning flying the F-86 around and the F-5E and could not duplicate it in the 15 minutes or so of flying in external modes. I understand the Doppler thing but that should have nothing to do with pacing the aircraft externally using the F2 key. Jumping back into the cockpit and cycling back outside doesn't seem to help - the sound will "catch up" in its own time. I'm wondering if this is more of a system thing rather than a bug since I don't see a plethora of posts about it. I was running DCS version 1.5.5 at the time. "Sliders" most all to the right. My rig is running W10 latest software updates 64 bit. My graphics card is the 780ti but the driver I had to go to the 368.81 build due to the latest driver having an issue with BOS. 16GB of DDR5 installed along with the i7-5930k chip running stock 3.5GHz. Has anybody else experienced these symptoms? UPDATE: Hmmm...noticed while flying the Nevada DCS 2.xxx that while viewing some aircraft using the F2 key and mouse to pan around the AI aircraft the sound is there if rotated towards the engines, but cuts out completely if the camera is rotated about 90 degrees away from it. Sounds like a bug, at least for this example (which may or may not be related to my issue).
  10. Ugh. No keys shown at all. Shows product purchased, even clicked on the product in the details page, tells me I already own it. "Order #388990 of 20-01-2017 Order status Completed Order has been sent or completed (for orders with serial numbers) Amount $72.00 Transaction N388990D2017xxxxxxxxx..."
  11. Tried to submit a support ticket THREE times for this and have given up. Each time after I copy and paste the stupid Star Farce log error report, the web page starts running slowly then doesn't respond at all. Upon recovery of course all my info is wiped out. Hence the post here as I'm stuck for help... Installed the 2.xxx first, then ordered the bundle with Nevada and installed. Ordered the bundle entitled "F-5E + F-5E ABFM Campaign + Nevada". Everything seemed to have downloaded and installed fine. When I went to use the F-5E in Nevada to check things out I got the activation key from the module manage and it accepted it, no problems. Bird is apparently ready to go. Then things went downhill as usual from there. The Nevada terrain asked for the key activation - the module manager shows "no key" listed for it. The module manager also shows "no key" for the F-5E mission pack. Any ideas on this? It's 4:30am so getting a little frustrated so my apologies. It's probably something simple on my end but guess my head isn't in the game at this point (pun intended). Thanks people in advance. Giving up for now...yawn...:helpsmilie: Jeff
  12. F-4E w/slats F-105 Thud Maybe a Wild Weasel variant too?
  13. Wow. Can't wait, but guess we're gonna have to! That and the F-18 for carrier ops will keep things VERY interesting.
  14. Damn cancer. Those few who know me here know I can relate to this story. Another sad chapter in an individual's life that's yet to be solved. One single cell in an individual's body begins the process of self destruction and all the medical minds in the world are still confounded over it. I'm at the point I really don't know if they'll ever figure this crap out. Regardless, you're soaring with the eagles now. Perhaps someday we will cross paths again. You will be missed. Jeff
