  1. I want to go to Las Vegas! I'm far too poor to get there myself :P
  2. Cool! Here's my (Hobbnob) entry into the bombing competition. I must apologise for the length, I had a catastrophic failure after first release and had to restart/realign midflight :) The Entry Unfortunately it's also a track file, tacview works fine for 1.2 but doesn't record anything from 1.5 for some reason
  3. I'm new to all this so feedback would be very much appreciated! :)
  4. I don't suppose anyone has a download for this? The original site is down and I can't find it anywhere else :)
  5. Voted other because I would also most like to see an improvement in combined arms fidelity :)
  6. Im pleased to hear CTLD is on the way to blue flag, its going to make helis much more valuable but challenging if they can deploy complex aa or radar if they can slingload effectively. Congrats to the mvp's too, I would have gotten more flighttime in the short time we were active but alas the real world got in the way :p
  7. BLUFOR Callsign: Hobbs Lone Wolf Preferred Aircraft: Mi-8, A10C, F15C, KA50
  8. Held down the TO trim button for a little longer and passed BFT01 with a Q first time, thanks for the help!
  9. Hey, I'm currently starting out on the BFT A10C campaign and loving it, amazing work! I've only noticed one issue, when running BFT01 on DCS 1.2 it doesn't seem to recognise that I'm pressing the T/O trim button and fails me on it each time even though I've pressed it and verified that the light came on. I thought I might have done something in the wrong order so I ran the practice mission for BFT01 and followed it to the letter and still got failed on it. I decided to skip it and run BFT02 instead, got a Q- on the second run which I'm super happy with, but one point of improvement would be that I managed to forget to turn the APU off (I was focussing far too much on improving my performance that I forgot to start up properly haha) and the IP didn't pick up on it :) Other than those small things I've found these missions are absolutely incredible, I really like the way the IP actually picks up on individual errors and audibly tells me what I've done wrong, I've been hesitating on buying this campaign for ages because I didn't feel competent enough with the airframe but the way it's made gives you clear points for improvement, I wholeheartedly recommend this for anyone that wants to get better with the warthog :D
  10. Hey guys, just checking in to say that once I upgraded from 4GB of RAM to 12 the game ran like a dream and I no longer have any issues at all with DCS online :)
  11. Landline broadband access, I'm not sure what VGA is so can't comment on that but I've enlarged my paging file slightly since it was hampering my music work. Could it be the computer accessing this that's causing my slowdown? It's important to clarify that I have absolutely no slowdown in any singleplayer missions :)
  12. I reinstalled today, no luck. One thing I forgot to mention was that I had an odd incident where everything was fine a week ago. I'd loaded into a server but something went wrong with my internet and I got kicked. When I loaded back in, everything ran silky smooth and showed no signs of any issues. I could scroll, select things and do everything a normal player can do.
  13. Thanks for the suggestions fellas! To respond: Ping: Pingplotter was uncooperative even after opening the firewall (I'm using avast AV with windows firewall) but I'm relatively certain it's not a network issue as I'm unable to scroll or navigate menu's properly when I'm in a server. AV: I've added DCS world to avast's exceptions list and restarted the pc and game but to no avail. RAM: It's possible that it's the culprit, however the task manager is only showing 2.1gb usage which is slightly below some of the other games I run without issue (arma 3, project cars being the main ones) I actually haven't tried a reinstall yet as the download size makes me pale (especially when you include the aircraft I purchased ie nearly all of them) but I'll consider it if there are no more ideas tomorrow. Thanks for all your suggestions so far guys, it's great to see a community aiding a crippled pilot :)
  14. Hey guys, so I've had this issue since installing DCS a few years back where I would be fine in singleplayer but multiplayer would start lagging as soon as I got into a server. I never thought anything of it, but recently a friend with a similar spec pc to mine got dcs as well and is having no issues. What I'm getting isn't internet lag. The aircraft selection lists consist of scrolling, waiting 30-40 seconds for a response, then scrolling again and repeating over and over until I see the aircraft I want, then clicking, waiting more, then pressing briefing waiting more etc etc you get the idea. This happens for the first 10-15 minutes of gameplayer where it'll be a slideshow, so I just leave the computer for a while and occasionally move the mouse to check that it's still frozen. After that it will be absolutely fine, running everything silky smooth apart from a slight stutter when someone new loads in. Here are my specs, thanks for any help :) i5 4570 3.2ghz 4gb DDR3 RAM GTX760 2GB GPU 20MB internet

I'm working on a little something atm (flight assessment) and I have a couple of questions: 1: Is voiceover a neccessity? 2: If we're planning to submit to you, are we restricted from posting elsewhere?
  16. You already answered my (and many others') concerns in other posts, but it's great that you've put this here, thanks very much :) What's different about the red arrows version btw, just the smoke pods or are there other differences in the airframe/engine too?
  17. Hmmm random nav test locations is an interesting prospect, gonna have to look into that one. I did consider "find x building in the city of y" but like you said, there aren't any buildings that really stand out uniquely so it's not really that fair. I actually have no idea if DCS recognises landings on 3d objects, I'm currently using a homebrew mix of triggers to verify landings and it's not quite perfect but it gets the job done. I might see about adapting it to buildings, as an orbit test on a block of flats before landing on it would be a nice challenge, if somewhat unrealistic :P I've begun converting it to the Huey (with some upgrades in the scripting and a new slightly longer nav route) and found a bug in the hover test. I'm not that great in the Huey, to put this in perspective I got a 9.7 on my first hover test. It didn't give me the correct grade though, and I found that very low scores caused mismatches in the grading system. It's since been fixed and will roll out with the next update :)
  18. The huey feels realistic, though it is said to have some fundamental flaws (the lack of engine temperature being one thats stuck in my mind). For me personally its great, though I much prefer the Mi-8 myself :)
  19. Gladly, as long as it works with my SFM hawk I purchased from the ED store :)
  20. I'll be making the upgrade when efm comes out, but thanks for letting us know. Thats not to say I prefer the sfm/efm system as opposed to only putting out an efm, it just makes it a little easier to spread the cost out a bit :)
  21. Good to hear you got on well! I'll definitely be adding a time delayed reminder for pilots that don't get to the altitude of the hover test, good idea. Sounds like you got on (reasonably) well with the orbit, I hadn't considered it as something to retry actually so it's something to consider if I can figure out a way to do it without breaking the flow. I wasn't sure about the nav check since I couldn't really perfectly test it myself (since I knew where everything was anyway) so it's good to hear you enjoyed it. Did you find it an adequate challenge though? I could have made it harder but there's a fine line between challenging and getting completely lost :P Thanks for the feedback, I'll update this one and probably convert it to the huey as well, as I suspect it's a more popular aircraft ;)
  22. Whoops! Completely forgot to put the link in, it's been a long day I'm looking forward to hearing how you got on :)
  23. This mission is designed to test your precision and ability to handle the Mi-8. You will be given 3 tests to perform: Hover Check: Hover the helicopter 3 meters off the ground, and hold it there for 30 seconds. You will be marked on your ability to hold your altitude, heading and position. Orbit Check: Complete an orbital circuit of a marker at a distance of 0.5km. You will be judged on your precision. Navigation Check: You will be given a town name, a grid reference and a terrain pattern. Use each one to reach the objectives. You will be judged on your precision. After each test you'll be given a score out of 50 and a grade, which will go toward a final A-E grade. Even though I've tested it, I'm not sure if I've got the difficulty and grading right. I've made it more difficult than my single engine training, so hopefully it's an adequate challenge. It's certainly a challenge for me, my best final grade is a B so far! Got a 46.5 on the hover check once though, pretty damn proud of that. Post your results, and let me know if you think it should be easier/harder :) You can download the mission here
  24. Haha don't worry about a little pranging, I've gotten so impatient when testing that I've rolled it on the taxiway! I'll have to make some approaches and make note of a 'perfect' approach at some point, then I can use the framework to monitor for deviations from that and grade accordingly :) For what it's worth, here's what happens when you fail :D
  25. Hey guys, so I'm just finishing up a basic flight assessment mission on the Mi-8 and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in playing a mission where you're in an airshow? The mission would put you in an aircraft and you are given various aerobatic maneuvers to complete once you have taken off (maybe with a scoring system?) Let me know if it's something you guys would be interested in, and what aircraft you'd ideally do it in :)
