To balance out this thread I'm would like to discourage everyone from drinking any form of alcohol. ever. I think alcohol creates a sense of fake social cohesion in the same way that drugs like ecstasy make people think that techno/rave music is good :P While in some sense it keeps the cogs of this style of world turning - it is one of the factors that contributes to a society that is stuck in and even worships mediocrity. It masks the problems of society for a short period of time. It brings relief from your previous week for long enough to get you through your next working week - then it's time for your next drink. Also it is terrible for you, physically and mentally. Most people could probably not care too much about the physical problems, but mentally, the part where your brain can shrink by up to 11% if you a regular drinker - that 11% might be all of your DCS knowledge :D Alcohol related illnesses are the #1 one reason why people are in hospitals in the western world - not guns, not wars, not natural disasters - alcohol. Closely followed obesity and smoking. When you drink alcohol, your body immediately does everything in it's power to remove it from your system. http://pubs.niaaa.nih.gov/publications/aa63/aa63.htm A lot people take such good care of their cars, wash regularly, check the oil and tyres, and ONLY ever put the best type of fuel in the engines. When it comes to their bodies they fuel up using all sorts of junk. You'd never put in that nitrous oxide into a classic car, so why do it to yourself. Take care of yourselfs and you can double your lifespan - imagine how good DCS will be in 2050 :) *Braces self for the cognitive dissonance responses

Yes that's what I would have thought :) the magic of Lua. But who knows where to even start? :)

Feature Request: Rapid Glance keyboard commands
FlyingHighAU replied to NightMan's topic in DCS Wishlist
Yes I think custom snap views can do just about anything. But also you might be interested in creating your own headtracker, which is quite easy and very heap to do. ~$15USD http://hobbycomponents.com/electronics/440-diy-head-tracker-bundle https://edtracker.org.uk/index.php/building/hardware It will give you 2 DoF meaning that you will be able to look side to side and up and down (but not lean or rotate which aren't used much anyway) -
Good Evening, I have tried searching, but unable to find the answer. Is it possible to use my (crappy) second monitor to display the F-10 map while my main monitor displays the cockpit as per usual? Thanks! EDIT : Oops wrong forum sorry people.

Kickstarter for Warthog add-on sticks?
FlyingHighAU replied to Schnittertm's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Looks like a scam to me. Not a single image of the product haha, he can't even bothered to scam people with any effort. -
well basically yes :) It's a good thing that they also to be the best modern combat flight sim developers too :D There are a few others doing f/a-18c and an apache, but I don't ever see them being proper flight simulators, certainly not on the level of DCS in any regard. (if they were smart they would be making modules for the existing DCS community and leveraging DCS World 2 and the huge amount of enemy units AI, map editor, multiplayer code etc etc).

I know it's not exactly what you are looking for but YouTube is a fantastic resource for learning DCS (and well just about anything else). You images, text and audio all at once, it's as good as a personal demonstration :) (and of course you can ask questions in the comments if something isn't clear).

I wish all super rich people were like Elon Musk! He is changing the world for the better. If more people would be like him we'd already be trekking through the stars instead of obsessing about the latest iProduct.

now that it can actually fly...... how about the Sikorsky S-97 Raider It's got one more rotor than the Black Shark and is about as fast as the Warthog haha :) j3njDrUtT8k

I just came back from the cinemas. Overall it was a pretty good movie. I do agree that the plot was certainly there for the car carnage, but more than anything to be a vessel for commentary on society, with the events and characters in the film being metaphors for the current state of affairs. While there isn't much to spoil, you'll certainly enjoy the movie more without reading the below. But I'd interested to see if anyone that has seen the movie agrees :) EDIT: I really loved the fact that there was very little CGI. The fighting and action was done in a interesting way, making sense and not just action for action's sake. It's not my favorite movie of all time(I enjoyed Mad Max 2 : Road Warrior more) but it's easily movie of the year, possibly of the decade and much better than the typical cookie cutter computer scripted rubbish hollywood manufacturers every few months. GO SEE IT!

I would like a Comanche as well, I wonder if they will one day release more information about it since it was canned. Off topic but I would love if DCS had a prototypes series, like the Su-47 and so on. EDIT then again, it would probably cheapen DCS.

DCS Joy x, y control VS T.A.R.G.E.T.
FlyingHighAU replied to hoochiekoo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's hard to say unless you try, but I think that whatever happens in TARGET would be applied first, and any tuning done in DCS World would be applied later so the two effects would be added together. (I think). Either way, I think you should only tune the axis in one or the other. -
Oops! Good point guys, must have been too early in the morning for me, I forgot it was 120 increase in both directions :) It will certainly be worth trying that's for sure.

oh nuts! 1080 x 1200 is only 120 pixels more per eye. It really needed to be double I think which would end up being a 4k display. Although I am happy about the 90hz. I guess we'll have to wait for a CV2 :)

These guys/shows are so blatantly faked it makes the AI talking from Arma 3 seem less scripted :) EDIT: Though I do enjoy the Engineering Connections show that Hammond is in, although not as good as James Burke, that guy really opened my eyes.

Warthog throttle or Trackir 5?
FlyingHighAU replied to Mtnbiker1998's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
trackIR 100% Also dual throttles aren't as useful as the marketing guys would want you to believe :) -

Check the Windows event viewer application logs for errors - might provide some clues :) -
