Can we have a March Monthly update please? :)

I wish Cobra would stop setting dates, it only leads to pointless threads like this -
Can we have a March Monthly update please? :)

well, for starters Iron Eagle, a movie about F-16 FALCONS, made primarily from ALUMINIUM :megalol: Well I thought it was cool movie when I was a kid too :) but now .... ugh lol -
I wouldn't bother, any DCS files download on any given day will be out of date 3-6 months later. (of course that's fine if you aren't fussed about having the latest fixes and upgrades, but also missing out on some newer modules and features) You really don't need to reinstall unless something goes seriously wrong, and as mentioned before, it will be out of date by the time you do. Especially if you have fast internet, you at most 30 minutes from playing the base install of DCS World - and only a 10's of minutes for each additional module.
-
I seriously doubt that they don't have some kind redundancy :) You can't honestly expect anyone to believe that 1/2 of Germany has no power at night? I don't think 2 minutes is going make a difference. Or 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999% of criminals that aren't terrorist.

Is your significant other trying to give you a hint? :P Seriously though programs and shortcuts don't just disappear in Windows on their own. The first thing to check would be to see if DCS World is still installed by going into Control Panel -> Programs. If it's not listed in there, then it has been uninstalled. You can check the Windows Event Logs to see who and when it was uninstalled. If the shorcuts are gone, and DCS World is still installed, then there is no real way to check what happened. Perhaps if they are in the recycling bin, it might give you a date at least, but probably no names. If things are disappearing on their own, I would be doing a virus scan or two.

This looks great. How loud is this thing? The buttkicker was too much loud for where I live. Is it as loud as an electric toothbrush or a typical gaming controller? Also is there an English ordering page? Google translate doesn't work too well on this site.

It's a shame that she got the number of barrels wrong on the GAU-8 though.... Kidding :) Nice one!

here is why I may switch to A version of A-10
FlyingHighAU replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in Chit-Chat
If you like the A-10A better, just fly the A-10C slowly over a Shilka, and you'll lose your TADS and Targetting pod in seconds :P -
Can you play DLC planes less realistically?
FlyingHighAU replied to Blitz262's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
You can always turn on unit labels as well so that you can see them from far away. -
There is no DCS: UAV is what I meant.

by the sounds of that news story, he has a habit of crash landing lol.

UAV's NEVER PLEASE :)

HTC / Valve Vive claims there is no motion sickness. If that is true, it's going to be the one to get.

I'd imagine DCS World 2 development would have come from an R&D budget, gathered from a small portion of all of their products.

If map price is based on time and materials, then it should be less than a full aircraft module. I'm guessing it takes 1/3 of the time to make and implement a standard size map than it does to make a full DCS module (3-5 years). So I'd be betting more in the $25 price range. But really, who knows!

DCS: Wild Weasel confirmed!

Have not tried, but does it work, if you press it on your keyboard?

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
FlyingHighAU replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
That is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect to happen in DCS, but not in the real world! :) -

And depends on the mission of course, hopefully your wingmen will have their own bombs or phoenix's to balance out the strike team. -
Yes, everything currently available (and everything upcoming) will be in DCS 2.0 for no additional cost if you have already paid for said modules. EDIT - Beated to it! lol

Sure if it was done in a sneaky way, but if you know ahead of time, and it is stated very clearly and consistently, the customer would not have any reason expect otherwise. Think of it as getting into a car at a car dealer ship. You even get to take it for a spin there too. Nobody get's angry for having to pay if you want to drive it everyday :). You wouldn't buy a car without at least sitting inside it first. Sure DCS modules aren't as big an investment financially, but time wise, they probably are quite a big investment. The way I would see it working is this: Download DCS World with the free modules as you do now. You want try out another plane, download the module files as you do now. This lets you do everything, except fly/taxi/move etc (and probably disable ground master arm to prevent trolls if online is allowed!). The code is simply not there to perform those flying/moving/taxii'ing actions. Once you decide you want to buy the module, press ESC and click the buy button, it takes you the ED website and purchase as you do now. This downloads the few megabytes of missing code to enable flying, and the protection/activation software. Activate the module as you do now, except it only activates the few missing pieces, required for flight. Basically, the only difference in the way this would work vs. how it works now, is that you are using the activator to enable only the flying portion of the module, rather than the entire module. (it's probably not that easy on the back end, but to my brain, it seems like it's just a matter of telling the activator to enable a few different files to what it does now).

I think the US wrapper MR. Z, mostly known by his first name Jay, said it best in his popular song "I've got 99 modules, but only fly 1".

What an ignorant comment. All F-14's could drop iron bombs. But some A's and B's were upgraded to bombcats, so that they were able to drop and designate their on LGBs and GBUs through LTS.
-
how is dropping a laser guided bomb ruining a fighter? It's simply expanding capability. War changes, and the tools evolve. Even the A-10 was designed originally for a different purpose than it is used for now. I doubt they even bother loading it up with combat mix rounds these days, i'd say it's all high explosive ammo in the cannon. What would actually be cool is, if leatherneck released the F-14A first, polished it up, then released the A+/B later, and then after that even the LANTIRN pod version or bombcat version. So it the releases would somewhat imitate the history of the F-14 being upgraded throughout the years.
