  1. I thought all of those WIP cockpits where photos! wow! BTW are there bigger versions of those pics anywhere? EDIT: yes there are, on facebook https://www.facebook.com/eagle.dynamics/photos/pcb.10155308578595341/10155308576625341/?type=1&theater
  2. Not sure if this is the best thread for this comment, but if I could have one request, it is when releasing trailers to have them running at 50 or 60fps as youtube now allows. It makes for much more impressive looking sim (especially since a lot of people think sim's are some slow old boring game that only runs at 25fps on a super computer).
  3. Which seems like a good reason to not jump lol. Call me old fashioned, but I'd prefer not to jump out of a perfectly good plane :) I bet it's great fun though :)
  4. Copy that, Swollen Ostrich.
  5. I personally prefer to keep all of my aircraft configured more or less the same - I always use the same hat switch for TDC, same buttons for lock, fire, change weapons etc regardless of what I jump into. A lot of them are similar in real life as it is, but it means, that you can switch from aircraft fairly quickly without have to relearn the major functions. I based them off the Warthog A-10C, since that's the plane I started with, and have that hotas. But I guess it doesn't really matter with plane you use as a base.
  6. I dunno man, I'd have a lot more fun playing the module than waiting for the announcement lol :)
  7. Now that's not fair, at least ship floats - their stealth plane didn't fly :megalol:
  8. Sounds like the Super Horney was always going to be a MOD rather than a full blown module with dedicated developers. That's a shame.
  9. They're heading to the old mill! I'd say they're just trying to put some time between the Mig-15 release and the announcement of the F-14, so neither one is stealing the others thunder.
  10. Cool, well in that case, I think we can do without the carrier for a while, while we train ourselves on the F-14. Then by the time we are comfortable with it, the carrier ops might be ready! :)
  11. Curious, when pilots start learning the tomcat, do they learn from carriers or do they start their tomcat training from an airport?
  12. I hope so lol - because I don't think the AT could even survive a single hit from one of these:
  13. I've noticed a lot games these days only draw detailed shadows onto objects that are within X distance to the player, even if they in the field of view, the ones in the distance don't get rendered. This might not work so well for DCS though, as it could create a pop-in effect. But if it is done subtley enough where the shadows fade in or if they are far enough away when they do fade in, then it's not distracting.
  14. Man I'm watering at the mouth at the thought of firing off a few AIM-54 Phoenix missiles!
  15. Obviously not, otherwise most of the forum members would be playing DCS2.0 by now :D
  16. usually $1500-2000 easily covers a beast of a PC. If you aren't comfortable building it, you can still usually pay $100~ for a parts store to do it for you. It'll always be cheaper than buying a brand name box.
  17. You can also create a mission (or use the random mission generator) and then set all of the planes to use either no ammo / missiles or training ammo where applicable.
  18. you can see him clicking the cockpit on the RAZBAM facebook page :)
  19. With Windows 10 being a free ujpgrade to all Windows 8 users, then we'll probably see DX12 capable machines spread a lot quicker than Win 7 / DX11. However of course, the hardware might take a bit longer!
  20. Now to figure out how to travel at the speed of light, for the right amount of time. You have to get it just right, so that you stop travelling at the same time EDGE is released, but not too long so that you don't end up so far in the future were they will think that jet planes and cavemen were roughly in the same time period of human history, like the way we perceive dinosaur ages(jurrasic age spans millions of years).
  21. Impressive numbers for sure, but I'll still claim that there is no humannoticeable difference. When you load a mission, it might be 2 or 3 seconds quicker, but who's even going to notice unless you're counting?
  22. I doubt there is any human noticeable difference between a RAM drive and an SSD. Especially if you count the time required to first have to load things into your RAM drive anyway. Just buy the fastest Nvidia GFX / Intel CPU you can afford, min 8gb RAM and the biggest SSD you can afford, and you'll be fine.
  23. DCS is hard enough for newcomers, without having to learn several dozen russian words :) An english, or which ever country you are would be great! Just like the Ka-50. I look at it this way: If I could read Russian as a native speaker, all of the writing in the cockpit would be readable to me. So I find it more realistic to think/pretend that I can read Russian fluently (while the words are actually in English). EDIT: Either way though, if there is an option, then everyone is happy!
  24. sounds like 30% the same. I can think of people that sound much more like Wags, including Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains.
  25. oh no :( was any reason given by CTD?
