  1. The hotfix seems to be working. Is there a code parameter for longer flame cones?
  2. This! Also, * being able to copy and paste large groups of vehicles and objects * the old LOMAC way of adding more heavy aircraft to a flight (i.e. able to create large wings or cells of bombers) * GCI linking radars * Ground objects and templates for AAA, SAM, and missile sites (roads, hardstands, revetments, etc.)
  3. Yeesh that would be a beast! Though I always wondered how someone might do the Goose death scene.
  4. Gentlemen, this is your first hop. The jets you are flying against are smaller, faster, and more maneuverable, just like the enemy MIGs. The clock is ticking and as of now we are keeping score.
  5. Tonight on Discovery Wings, take to the skies in the mighty Soviet bomber the Туполев Ту-95; NATO reporting name: "Bear". Later we climb into the cockpit of the the legend from Top Gun. Watch as the F-14 Tomcat protects the fleet by keeping the menacing Bear at bay. All of this tonight on DCS's Wings of the Red Star.
  6. Thanks, I tried my best to keep it as close to the original movie scenes.
  7. Disclaimer:Sorry, no "Skull and Crossbones" :( Some NSFW language in the beginning. Rendering/editing this that much of a BEACH * Sidenote: If you under the 30ish age range you probably will not get most of the references. And yes, a few jabs are taken at the hornet in the beginning. Music by Starpoint "Object of My Desire" (had to do my own dejaying/mixing)
  8. Useless you count the adversary role VF-74 took on right before they were shut down.
  9. I'm all for people doing whatever they want but I personally cringe when I see the wrong livery/squadron insignia on the wrong bird. VF-84 gets put on everything and anything F-14 related and VF-103 (Sluggers) gets no love. Back in the 80s-90s it was the same VF-111, mental association I guess (skull and cross bones = F-14). When the A comes out I want to see VF-302, VF-154, and VF-211 (I refuse to recognize them as VFA).
  10. Operation Desert Storm Operation Rolling Thunder http://izaks-outlook.tumblr.com/post/94404148946/toocatsoriginals-camouflaged-a-6-intruders-the
  11. All those national resources to stop of single column...yes
  12. That what I was thinking, I also wonder if fuel quantity and quality comes into play? The few times I have had the privilege see F-14s fly at night (either at air shows or doing touch and gos) the burners looked purpleish/blue, daytime orange like a bag of Cheetos. Same goes for a lot of aircraft, the visible light spectrum plays a lot of tricks on the human mind and eye. To further complicate things a lot of imaging sensors will also spit out weird colors if they and the system (or medium) used to display or process them are not calibrated.
  13. I stand corrected... Those were "live" MK-82s with anti-static coating... From Wikipedia: VF-84 before the Sluggers picked up the moniker (notice the AJ tail code)
  14. Launch and landing weight, center of gravity, drag, and air frame stress are the main culprits. Operationally the F-14 normally carried 2 to 4 dumb bombs, 2 GBUs, 2 to 4 JDAMs or a mix of the two (normal two in the "love tunnel"). Also, operationally if they did launch with AIM-54s on a patrol they normally carried two, more if they were certainly some were going to be fired off (i.e. testing and evaluation). Also missiles have a finite storage, flight, and handling life. In a carrier operating environment there is more stress put weapons systems. Even during the height of conflict, F-14s frequently patrolled with Sparrows and Sidewinders, more so than AIM-54s. Pulled from an aircraft scale modeling site... Most research points to fact that "Long-range" intercept (4 or more Aim-54s) was not a common operational configuration. Also, not sure if carrying weapons on the forward pylons during TARPS operations was common either, from my understanding the two forward pallets were normally equipped with ballast or electronics gear. I'm sure there are some here with real world F-14 experience that can chime in.
  15. Dude you name is awesome enough Can understand and you make a good argument. I'm more of the "wait and see" crowd. More so because I want to see what options for personal preference can be tweaked. And seriously...digging the username
  16. Part 2 JTAC bustin them all the way to the white meat...
  17. One part of the "Double Penetration Reserve Component Exercises, with the goal of fully inserting National Guard assets into foreign mission partners. Featuring: F-15C Eagles of the 114th Fighter Squadron/173rd Fighter Training Wing of the Oregon Air National Guard. A-10C Thunderbolt II's of the 104th Fighter Squadron of the Maryland Air National Guard. A composite group of F-16Cs from the 495th Fighter Group and 9th Air Force, with personnel from the 169th Fighter Wing and 316th Fighter Squadron of the South Carolina Air National Guard. Finally, HH-60 Pave Hawks from the 129th Rescue Squadron of the California Air National Guard.
  18. I hope the never release it and keep teasing us every few months with videos and pics. Am I serious? Yes Why!? Because to me it's like foreplay...:joystick: (also because I like seeing the consternation on everyone else's impatient face)
