  1. Please explain specifically what you mean. Because these were 492nd sqn jets I’m talking about.
  2. That’s just simply incorrect. Entire 4 ship flights have been seen departing Lakenheath without CFTs, and with wing tanks and missiles. It’s been happening for a while.
  3. Sounds reasonable for a totally clean jet to me.
  4. It is time specific, because it wasn’t being done during the time period the module is depicting. It’s not about the capability, it’s about it actually being used that way. It’s being used that way now… but should that influence Razbam’s plans for the module in either the short or long term… I don’t know.
  5. There’s plenty of video out there of Strike eagles flying out of Lakenheath with AA fit and no CFTs. It’s been happening for months. But as mentioned that probably doesn’t apply to the timeframe of the module we’re getting. My opinion on this has changed. If units are doing it now I think it would be an interesting and valid thing to add to the module at some point later in development. But I’m not sure if the juice would be worth the squeeze for the devs, having to totally change the FM etc. Would be cool to see though.
  6. Another from Ron's twitter:
  7. From Ron's Twitter: How good does this pilot look?!
  8. If you’ve got cursor control on a mini-stick then do you have a deadzone on your control bindings? Wondering if as you’re menuvering your cursor control axis is trigging it very slightly and that’s causing it to lock random places?
  9. This is correct. It’s firing the laser to get more accurate ranging to the target point to improve accuracy on release. It’s also been doing it for a while.
  10. Castle on the front stick is for selecting and cycling MFDs. But it’s not exactly the same as the F-18 or F-16 way of doing it. In order to “take command” of a particular screen/sensor you depress the castle first which is “Take command enable” which then move it in the direction of the screen you want to take control of.

    F-15E vs. F-18C

The Chuck’s guide is correct I think?
  12. Essentially yes, Ignore the loft cue if you're doing a level drop, and make sure that the circle of your FPM is touching the ASL.

    Weaponry?

@Beirut See I’m more interested in the SDBs… hitting a bunch of targets with small bombs. But I can respect the fact that you seem to be all about blowing as big a hole in the ground as possible. Lol I’m imagining your normal loadout will be 3x GBU-28s and then 8 GBU-12s just to mop up any thing that wasn’t already a huge smoking crater.
  14. You sure? What about the TGP FLIR panel behind the left WSO controller?
  15. Once the jet is powered up, sure. But the TGP and EW panels are in the back to power the systems on, are they not?
  16. That would be me. The reason I want the capability of boresighting incorrectly is because its realistic, It's what happens when you do it wrong IRL. And boresighting mavs is a skill and something that needs to be planned for during missions. You set a steerpoint over a good boresighting target after takeoff for that very reason. It should be possible to do its wrong, and pay for it by either having miss-aligned mavs or have to re-do it. This is the realism I expect out of a sim such as DCS. However for more casual players, I understand why an option for pre-boresighted Mavs would be good.
  17. From Ron’s Twitter: Gotta say the Mudhen with mavericks looks weird AF… but I’m down for giving it a try.
  18. The first batch, which were made from old 203mm M110 howitzers artillery barrels only took 17 days from start of development to being used in combat... They were needed in a hurry for the Gulf War for getting to very deep & well fortified C&C bunkers.

    F-15E vs. F-18C

    Can't argue with that logic!

    F-15E vs. F-18C

They don't, It isn't based on a specific aircraft at a specific time. Its based on the whole life of the Strike Eagle up until relatively recently. Eventually we will get all 3 TGPs it used, LANTIRN, LITENING and SNIPER. We will get the original UFC and the Upgraded LCD one. JHMCS as well. You will be able to "date" the aircraft base on what equipment the mission maker allows to be used.
  21. If you can make it happen repeatedly then save a track and post it here. I haven't seen anything like this. Please check that you don't have any button mappings interfering with pitch trim. Also when it happens please check the Flight Controls panel in the rear left hand side of the cockpit behind the throttle and make sure that things like the Alternate flap extension is set to "Norm" and the Digital FLCS backup is set to OFF. If either of those are sett wrong then you may have a weird binding set somewhere messing with those too.
  22. You’re right. The radar can only function in one mode at a time (unlike modern AESA magic) but as far as I understand it, it is possible to take a high res patch map of an AG target, freeze the patch map on the screen then hand the radar to the other crewman. Then while the radar itself is back in AA mode, the WSO can be looking at the frozen patch map display and designate a ground target on it, then slave to the TPOD to it, and the pilot can be looking at the AA radar and checking for air threats. The radar only needs to be scanning in AG mode while creating the patch, and then once it’s frozen it can go back to AA mode. At least this is what I’ve gathered from lots of F-15E interviews and picking the brains of F-15E aircrew.
  23. @YoYo the aircraft is fully flyable from the front seat. There is no reason to jump into the back seat except for a few startup things. The reason there is a WSO there in real life is helping manage the extra workload of high intensity tasks like analysing a radar patch map and picking a ground target while the pilot in the front is running the AA radar and protecting the aircraft from air threats. A basic AI WSO won’t be able to do that.
  24. Why do you need them? You can fly it like a single seat aircraft like the F-18 or F-16. Or you can fly with a friend in the back and share the load.
