  3. I read in the manual that the datalink is supposed to get info from AWACS and ground-based EW radars, are the latter present in DCS ? and how would that work, simply other contacts displayed in the MFD ?
  4. well they could give one of those to a lucky civilian :music_whistling:
  5. yea i see what you mean, searching in the forums by thread title works better and saves time :book: it would be better to open another post regarding the f15 datalink:thumbup:
  6. :thumbup:Thanks guys i'll study it
  7. I didnt mean to derail the thread :music_whistling: My point is, at the moment only the su27 has datalink modeled in game (does the mig 29s have it too?). Other fighters like the F15c don't have it, i'd like to know if that is because the real plane in the FC3 timeline (85-95?)didn' t use a similar system, or if simply Link-16/ MIDS etc.. aren't modeled in just yet.
  8. Thanks for the info, but i don't get why the hsi shows 101 as course instead of 300 (the correct heading) . i probably don't understand the basics of navigation, so don't get too mad:music_whistling:
  9. So is the data-link working in any MP server now(at least plane-to-plane)? One question: if a wingman locks up a target when I am already in STT, will i get the position of the 2nd bandit? Also did the Eagle have any sort of data link back in the 80s-90s or was it introduced later(2000-)?
  10. Well i am joining this discussion as a Complete ignorant, but I have experienced weird things in the su27 PFM . For example at higher altitudes(8/9km )if I try maneuver too much / dogfight i often end up in a inverted flat spin . When i try the "instant action" mission for the su27 and dogfight the F5s guns only I'm always on the edge of a deadly stall (i recover 1 out 5 tries ). I probably got used to the old FM, i agree but when i switch the F15, which is also PFM , i rarely go into stall( when it does happen, it is more predictable) and i never found myself into inverted flat spins. the f15 just feels more reliable (no heavy trim needed, sudden spins etc..) and i can kind of predict its behaviour in air.. in the sukhoi instead sometimes i feel like I get slapped out of nowhere :helpsmilie: Now as I said I am no expert, I only have a vague idea on how these planes should fly IRL, probably an incorrect one :D
  11. Thanks for the replies! At the moment in game a SARH fired in STT immediatly triggers a launch warning on the target, would be nice to have like a 10% margin of detection error/delay for RWR. It would be closer to reality and make SARHs more dangerous, wouldn't it?
  12. Yes Thanks:thumbup:!, this part in particular, because if I got it right it's what actually changes in the radar emission, i.e. , something that the RWR can detect. But is it something variable, so the RWR might not be able to detect an incoming SARH missile immediately(or at all)? Thinking about this makes me wonder on ARH missiles as well, and on how their 'Pitbull' activation is seen from a RWR point of view. Maybe in game it is all more simplified, I guess it would be a nightmare to code all of this:lol:
  13. Hi again guys, I have a question for you experts on this subject : Once I shift from scan to STT the target's RWR notices the difference with the beaming pulse(i guess) so it signals the enemy's radar lock. I don't understand why when I fire the SAHR the target gets the launch warning since the missile itself is getting tracked passively by the attacker's radar(no other radar signals depart from the launched missile). I found some posts here and there in this forum about this subject, but were mainly off-topics and not really clear to me. I' d like to learn more on these Avionics/Systems, but when i try to google this stuff i get lazy and confused . So any of you can explain how IRL the RWR works to detect a missile launch ? Hope that what i wrote makes sense:huh:, and correct me if something that i stated is wrong Thanks!
  14. Oh ok so thats why the target RWR doesn' t detect the "lock", in fact there isn't any directly on it (correct me if i got it wrong). Wanted to know how it worked:book: Thanks!
  15. One more thing: is it correct that when a F-15 locks me up in TWS mode I do not get any warning from my RWR? I don't get any warning even when he fires, only when the missile goes pitbull. Is this correct, TWS works like this IRL too? I don't get how my passive RWR doesn't notice the lock-on by the other aircraft, any explanation on this? Thanks
  16. Wow ! Lots of informations, Thanks guys. Now it's time for hard practice :joystick::thumbup:
  17. Hi everybody, i am quite new to Flaming Cliffs 3 and DCS world, i have about 40 hrs into it. I played the dear old FC2 quite a bit some time ago, and now joining in the new game things are a little diffrent. I re-watch tutorialvids and guides but all i can find i still based on FC2 or the older Lock On.. So i need some tutorial/information on how to evade 120s when they are already gone pitbull; I usually fly the SU-27, so when my Beryoza starts beeping and the intensity light raises, i wait until the last 2 lights are about to go up then pull hard +Gs on the right or left + spam chaffs. Only problem is that this doesnt work, mostly on Multiplayer(in SP Missions AI 120s are often out of energy when near me) and i end up dead. Here a couple of vids i used to learn: Can you guys tell me if this tactic still works or what to do in my case? Thanks
