  1. Well technically, the plane can survive fine up to the ultimate limit, so pulling 10 g isn't and surviving isn't necessarily a problem. However I agree, a damage model is needed. Early on I was constantly going over G in dogfights routinely, flying like that really needs to be penalized if the plane can't actually handle it.

I'm sure it's known, both planes are still in Beta. Likewise ED has acknowledged the structural issues with the Su-27 and F-15, but they don't have their priority on this right now.

Hit it on the head of nail Exorcet. 7-10 g's was likely a quick maintenance inspection, and a free six pack from the pilot to the maintenance crew for being a bonehead. Over 10 likely required the engine to be dropped borescoped, spars checked blah blah blah. With no persistent map or server monitoring continual use, it is almost not worth the effort to make this too detailed. Over 10g's you could have gear doors and stores ripped off (or something similar) increasing exponentially from there. From say 7-10g have a more random way for minor pieces of damage to occur or bend up there aircraft's dihedral so it flies cockeyed.

  2. Is there such a group out there?

Seems like there is no dedicated Mig-21 group, squad, support group in the Squadron sub-thread. Seems like there was soo much hype for this module then it fell off a bit (possibly due to no arch enemy aka F-4.) I'd say this is my favorite module these days and finding a group to fly this with would increase my enjoyment.

    Cheers!

  3. I have been playing with the F86 and wondering how I would go about navigating without using the F10map.

How did they do it during the Korean War?

I found this PDF by the Aries Radio guys which mentions how the UHF radio might have been setup.

Has anyone made a mission that mods one of the Georgian airfields to be more like a Korean Era airbase that supports radio navigation like this?

This falls on the mission builders to make missions that require NDB integration or ground controller integration, aka, bad weather or reduced visibility. Most mission builders and flyers not associated with a sqaud who trains in IMC will play or build missions VFR only. Mods shouldn't be necessary for NDB navigation in the Sabre and under the tutorial thread at top is several videos on how to use the sabre NDB system.

  4. I was looking for some F-86 stuff when I stumbled across an instructional\familiarization video for the Naval\Marine version of the F-86 E&F, the FJ2 Fury. In it pilots are warned to go easy on the rudder during firing to avoid skidding off the target and that the aircraft requires very little rudder. They start to talk about the rudder at about 8:09 in the video.

Apologies if this has already been posted.

Great find Moggster, I think many should focus on the practical aspect aka the video saying there was an effective rudder vice Monday Morning Engineering.

  5. If your looking for a community focused on Korean War flying especially the Sabre and Mig Check out the forums. As we get closer to release more content on the Mig will be released for those interested. I'm sure as both modules get fleshed out, members will focus on the airframe they enjoy to fly more, so feel free to check us out.

TAG is a laid back group of dudes that have affiliations with all, different types of online squads, but all congregate together for fun, historical, and realistic flying training and events focused on Korea.

  6. I'll try to attend. Couple of questions.

For the single player training, are there actual training missions somewhere or is there a plan for them to be made?

And for the multi-player, there are things I'm a complete newb at. Formation flying, landing patterns, etc. Will I be really out-of-place in the multi-player training session?

The planes themselves, F-86 and P-51, I'm fairly comfortable with.

Nope skill is not a factor, that's what these are for. You can do the single player parts whenever you want, or on a server with people. More info will be posted as to what formations and patterns are giving you an idea on the site.

  7. Check, if anyone is interested early this week coming up we will begin to work thru those training programs. I'll post more on times over there and it will be open to Mustang and Sabre since they both participated in the conflict. The Mustang Training is geared 90% of the way towards air to ground. Signup for which platform you want to fly that evening we get together (can change on different nights just try to spend that night in the same aircraft type.) Thinking of maybe a Sunday evening get together around 8pm EST on either the Korea War Server, Invisibull's, or I can always host one. Teamspeak info is on the site.
