DCS, Falcon BMS, IL-2 1946, RoF. If it has planes, I'll fly them.
  1. Hello, Just started learning the Viggen. There is something odd about the cold start procedure. The manual and tutorial mention that the Starter switch should be "held for two seconds". At first, I assumed that this meant "flicking the switch to On, then to Off after two seconds". However, this fails to start the engine. The switch has to be left On, and returns itself to Off after the engine is started, as seen in the official Cold Start video. I'm not sure if this is the correct behaviour for the switch (in which case the "hold for two seconds" indication is very confusing), or if the switch's implementation is still in progress. Could someone clarify? Other than that, I'm very impressed by the quality of this module - Bravo to Heatblur!
  2. Well this popped out of nowhere like a... Well, like a low-level strike aircraft :) Very excited by this, good luck with this project !
  3. Hello everyone, I'm looking for a replacement for my x52's stick (I'll be keeping the throttle), and since I'm on a small budget and live in Europe I've been considering buying VKB's Cobra M5. But after a bit of research, I've heard about the upcoming Gladiator. To me, it seems that this stick is more oriented towards prop aircraft - no double trigger, most buttons on the base, etc. which could be a problem for DCS. My main question is, is the Cobra a better choice (quality-wise), or should I stick with the more recent product ? Oh, and regarding the Cobra : What is the difference between the M5 and the M5 rev.B, since both are being sold ? Thanks in advance.
  4. I'm sure there would be at least one person on this forum hardcore enough to spot a serial number on one of the screws pointing towards a particular aircraft manufacturer and find us the aircraft in question, variant name included.
  5. DCS : X-32 ? Now that's something I'd buy :)
  6. The key commands for sling loads are new, but there was already a basic implementation added to the sim a little while ago. Have a look here : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=139213&page=2
  7. That 'first order' TIE livery looks great. Just a little patch of color to distinguish it from other units... Very nice.
  8. I doubt the Osprey would attract a lot of customers. So far all DCS aircraft, including trainers, have some degree of combat capability - The main selling point in DCS compared to other sims is that it models ground and air combat. And while it'd be interesting to insert troops under fire or perform medevac, an Osprey module would be directly concurrenced by modules for other, non combat-focused sims. But I definitely agree that the Osprey should be in DCS, at least as an AI aircraft.
  9. Remember, the elements LN has talked about aren't necessarily all in the same plane. The Tornado would fit a number of those, though. A-G radar, variable geometry, trust reversers, complex missiles on some variants... The only problem being that it's a two-seater. On the other hand, it could be a MiG-25 - I think the R-15 engines have some very unique elements that haven't been seen in DCS yet. Radar display is a CRT screen... OK, that may be wishful thinking :D

    I-16

Yeah, that's what I meant. The engine is just gravity-fed.

    I-16

The main problem of the I-16 is its engine, really. It's powerful enough (Don't expect to outrun a 109 though), but it lacks a carburettor, which means it'll cut out quickly in negative G maneuvers. Other than that, it easily outturns most if not all German fighters. Firepower is good (Especially on variants that add a couple cannons), and it's just fun to fly overall. Great little plane !
  12. There's already something like that for the MiG-21. You can set a system to have, say, 89% chance of failing after 5 minutes of flight. You can't fail all systems, but it's already pretty handy for training.
  13. Ah OK, I didn't know new templates were scheduled for those two. Well I'll just be patient then :)
  14. Hello, I was wondering if someone would be interested in making a skin for one of these aircraft (MiG-29 or MiG-21), in a similar fashion to the current T-50's livery, which reminds me of WW1 dazzle camouflage. I also really like the hollowed-out stars on the wings. Picture : Thanks in advance.
  15. Hold on - There's been streams with the F-14 ???
