  1. I got shot 2 days ago by friendly bofors. At first I thought I've lost my wing due to pulling too many G's but that wasnt proper for me since I wasnt pulling nearly as hard to get to the limits, then I've checked it and Tacview confirmed that I was at 5.7 G's in last recorded moment. In the same second however Bofors gun fired at 109 K and it looks like it removed my wing :( Those chaps are not cool, they should get a better training.
  2. Hey Little D ! Is that so ? Ok, I didnt know that in DCS 20 mm gets that effective. I already avoid airfields and most often this days break pursuit when approaching them but that puts me even further on attention. I have 1080Ti, 24 GB RAM, Crucial SSD and Core i5 4670. Cpu is the worst part of it and I will be replacing it with Ryzen/Threadripper by the end of this year but cant exactly say when. For now it has to be the way it is. But flying at 4k I get noticeably lower frames on Israeli server.
  3. It's not really faster than 1080, they trade blows however this performance comes for Vega for much greater power consumption. If anything, Vega 56 seems to be far more interesting than 64.
  4. So far I'm only running 4k DSR on my 23.8" IPS panel and DCS looks quite good, so I'm simply wondering what to expect from a 27" 1440p or even larger 4k panels in regard of game looks. In terms of raw size 27" doesnt feel that much bigger to be fair, but its not the only thing that matters. And high refresh rates could also be handy. I'm torn :(

So, it turns out that UW monitor I was looking for might not be coming for quite a while, I've been waiting for it for over a month and frequently contacting local sellers but found no success and was told recently that its unknown when that unit will be in stock. I'm simply tired of waiting and other UW monitors of such or similar spec cost significantly higher, too high for me. So the thing I've started considering is upgrade to either a 27" 1440p or 27" 4k or 32" 4k panel, mostly acer, asus and aoc constructions. Only with G-sync. Now choice of monitor is a very personal one since we all have different eyes and we differently respond to various subtle differences, still I'd like to hear any opinion whether should I pursue first, second or third option. Would I spot differences in 4k vs 1440p in DCS ? Would it be worth going from 27" to 32" ?

  8. Not true at all. I've been over German airfields numerous times, either spawn fields or those in front of them, still with some Flak 30s or what have you, and I get damaged or even splashed frequently. And its not that I fly slow and present myself to every AA gunner down there. But every now and then I see a 109/190 over our fields as well, though usually its a friendly aircraft that gets them before AA manages to score hit. Of course perspectives may differ. In practice I could agree to increase AA over airfields players spawn. And only there. On the other hand get rid of AA or decrease it as much as possible over front fields. Currently there is barely any AA around Allied objectives, particularly Allied airflieds south of Point du Hoc I have seen none, while on the eastern side around Longes sur Mer, Le Molay and further airfields up until to German spawn fields there are two - three flaks deployed. And its the same story I have pointed a month ago, combat develops over Brucheville or Chapelle, if things go bad for 190/109 he dives and flies a few miles to get into his AA safe barrier. It's less than minutes of pursuit and this map is just too small for having to fight half the time under AA fire. In regard to Blue Flag, I like it there but this huge numbers of objects come at a price. I have 20-30 FPS less than on any other server and frequent stutters. From my perspective its overloaded.
  9. Small threadkidnapping but I was wondering how DCS handles ultrawide ? I've decided to upgrade my 24" 60 hz IPS panel with 35" 100hz ultrawide 1440p beast and in a few titles I've bothered to check it seems they all nicely work in ultrawide. How is DCS in that regard ?
  10. It's possible that server didnt get updated (havent seen it online since fridays update) and restarted. Maybe Eekz went on holiday :)
  11. Eekz, I cant exactly say when. I've entered server at around 8 PM CET yesterday and flew for an hour, maybe longer. After 10-20 minutes, once first combat occurred, I've already felt that game is not really smooth and saw people porting in front of me or moving in stuttery way (checked my ping but it was fine, between 80 to 100, as per usual). It's possible that numbers of ground units are too significant to handle by the server. Normandy still requires a lot of optimizations after all.
  12. Server is running like potato, high ping fluctuations and stutters were present for me when I flew 10 minutes ago.

  14. One mission just ended and finally after a long time there were more than 5 people online. However server instead of reseting is just down. Mind fixing that ?

  17. Could you be more specific please, does it also happen without VR or only and exclusively with VR ? Does it happen every time or only sometimes ?
  18. Convergence like convergence, first thing to actually fix is ammunition type and load. Currently we have ammunition selection that would be very nice for strafing ground objects or ships, which is four AP rounds and one APIT round. What we lack is M8 API round which should be predominant in loads against aerial targets. Second thing I struggle with are tracers, I've tried different graphical settings and reshade but tracers are not helpful at all and barely visible if not invisible at some times.

Oh I expect that but that at this size of the mission map and grouping of airfields whoever dives to east or west from med altitude and runs to his airfield can expect that opponent on his six will catch some AA slugs in pursuit. AA should be stron at spawning fields, its common for either Allies to strafe Luftwaffe guys at their fields or Luftwaffe to strafe and drop bombs at Binville. Those objectives IMO need strong AA, rest should be minimal since mission is not that big. But thats just my few cents mate.
  20. Well, those few were sufficient to cause today damage to me 4 times when in combat, either killing pilot or killing engine since P-51 in DCS is made out of marshmallows. Basically whatever guy has someone on his 6, just dives and gets into AA cover. I'd very much appreciate getting rid of that crap.
  21. Does that mean you have added aa to other than spawning airfields ? I've been under fire notoriously today when flying over German airfields on which Luftwaffe cannot spawn (Longues-sur-mer and few others closer to the center of the map), every time some combat happens and people dive to the ground (in this case Luftwaffe pilots) I find myself under fire from the ground. It got out of hand to me since now combat is more predestined by AA than actual aircraft combat.
  22. Would be actually nice get back some messages about where enemy was spotted or which airfields are under attack not to spawn in front of enemy guns. For now its just a typical quake flying with no specified purposes and clear vision what to do.

You cant get more deadly really, 7 out of 10 times I'm put down is because of my engine seized to operate due to hits (fuel pump damage, manifold pressure controller damage, prop pitch damage, generator damage) or my pilot is getting killed (which surprises me how 13 mms so easily go through armored plate behind my back). There is no feeling whatsoever of Allied (or at least in regard to P-51) construction ruggedness. There were a few times ( one yesterday ) when I take a lot of damage and can keep flying for a couple of minutes but those I can count on my fingers. Else, I go down after first few hits. On the contrary amount of times I saw 109 going down as easily is rare, every time I engage one I'm prepared for the fact that I will have to chase one, damaged it a couple of times yet it will maintain full combat potential, eventually get it smoking which will only result in view obstruction and until I wont detach its wing or tail it will just keep flying. D-9 is easier to bring down, but its possibly due to the fact that its engine recently appears to be more delicate.
  24. Problem is that MiG-21 just has very high resolution textures (8k I believe), especially in regards to cockpit so along with 2.1 being quite poorly optimized (hell, even my 1080Ti struggles at times) I just think to get back to 1.5 performance state it will take some time.

    Any update jafa ? It's been so quiet for a while and I keep wondering what is the status of your work ? Are we any closer to getting P-51 sound mod ?
