  1. I was under the general impression that they wanted to get rid of pilots and move to uavs more? Or is that just one of those media circulated rumors based on current popular ideals?
  2. The crux of why I stopped playing this game is because of the lack of being able to see anything. I am running a 32 inch screen @ 1920 x 1080 so I've no idea if I'm on the winning or loosing edge of the current system. I only know that without labels I'm pretty much blind as a bat. For the most part I can spot that dirt spec if the lighting is right. Obviously not having TIR is a huge disadvantage in DCS as once you loose the target with the mouse it can be super hard to pick it back up in a quick enough time to have any output of the battle. I don't know how hard it's supposed to be. I can track planes at an air show using binoculars and re-pick them up, but then they're in a fairly predictable pattern. It's hard to know for me if I'm just rubbish at spotting (probably) or if the correct way would even be any use for someone like myself. I guess if you're rubbish at spotting it doesn't matter how good the game makes it hmmm.
  3. Well, at least with 32GB ram you won't need a page file and you can load DCS straight to a RAM disk
  4. Without being there I'm shooting in the dark really: Either going to be something like the motherboard, power supply (but you tested that) or the switch on the case. If you have a speaker on your motherboard pulling all the RAM out should give you some beep codes which you can then google to find out what they mean. Another issue it could be is the CMOS battery could be dead or dying. Try one from a working pc is a 2 second check. Could even be a short circuit in one of the cables.
  5. 8GB RAM is fine for DCSW, but there is the option to upgrade if you need to. I only get close to using my 16GB when I run VMS for testing stuff (only reason I put the 16GB in there, could use a bit more though ;)) To be fair that's not a bad way to spend $1000.
  6. I remember an early gaming build. I thought I would end up doing two graphics cards so brought a board that could take 3. That never happened. My current machine is more a workstation with a matx board in it and and unlocked i5 with a fairly low end gtx 760 (ocd). I've just got basic kingston ram ddr3 stuff 16gb. It's not bottlenecking (slowing anything down) - I had expensive ram on my last build but never really noticed any difference so I just went with basic branded ram. The Samsung evo ssds are great. The kingston (silver) ones are pretty good too. Get a better power supply bud. The kentek looks a bit naff. Get one of the corsair builder series units. Cost a bit more, but worth it as if the power supply goes pop it can take out other expensive parts. You don't want your $20 power supply exploding after a month taking out your $100 motherboard or destroying your $300 graphics card. Cheap power supplies often won't give out the power they state. As if you couldn't tell I rate a good power supply as much as having a good graphics card or RAM. People often make the mistake spending loads on the cool bits and getting a rubbish power supply and then regretting it a few months or years down the line. Just my 2 cents. Everyone has their own opinion on a pc build from personal experiences good and bad.
  7. I've never played the campaigns in DCSW, but I know from plenty of other single player games how it can be hard to do a perfect run every time and being able to save even once after a really hard bit or even if you simply have to go do other real life stuff. The door rings, the dog needs a pee, the baby is crying, your best friend turns up at random, the wife suddenly decides to get naked... when you gotta go, you gotta or you're like. Dayum woman, I just spent 20 minutes getting to this point and I can't save the game! Personally I wouldn't give up. Seems a waste just to throw in the towel when you've spent that much on something you obviously enjoy (most of the time). Take a break, come back to in a week or a month or so :)
  8. Isn't it: shift + tab - all ctrl + tab - allies
  9. Sometimes modules are released through their website earlier than steam.
  10. The reason you don't play clod is not because you don't like the way clod operates, but because you prefer A/G which DCS is better for. Fair enough now I see your meaning.
  11. Silly question, but since the new map is coming out, will it work in the nav mfd?
  12. If you buy from official website at full price you also get a small discount depending that accumulates if you buy more than one module. This discount is not active for all modules though. Something you don't get from steam. Be careful buying from other non-official vendors as these keys may be cheaper, but there have been lots of reports of such keys being banned without warning and ED support will not help or care in such a case because they have this notice around the website.
  13. But you can do cobra in su27
  14. I don't think DCS will ever be finished as we think of in most game. It's a platform that has and will evolve over time. DCS ww2 was a kickstarter project that failed and has been taken on by ED. The a10c was originally made to train real pilots which has been around since 2011.
  15. only plane you can drop a nuke in
  16. CSS is fairly easy even if you don't know what you're doing. Here is the bible https://www.w3schools.com/css/ Also this - How to use a style sheet with cpanel https://hostgatorresellercoupon2013.wordpress.com/2013/02/25/how-to-load-css-style-sheet-to-cpanel/ And here is some more help related to cpanel and how you can use inline CSS. http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/website-design/using-css/using-css-website Also pm Yurgon. A second set of eyes is never a bad thing. Could be something really 'silly' that you may have missed.
  17. It's funny to think this comapny started in a bedroom. Look it now. I like the idea of getting groceries online via amazon or other supermarket chain and being able to pre-order a set amount of things I want each month. I hate going to a store because it's usually after work and I'm really hungry so I buy quick to eat rubbish and even then I use the self chechout rather than the cashier even if free because sometimes I'm not in the mood for small talk especially when some of them are blank icons who won't give you the time of day anyway. Most stuff I buy online I get from amazon even if it's second hand such as decent second hand films or books they're sometimes cheaper on amazon than ebay. Ebays fees are too large so selling dirt cheap stuff your basically giving for free one you pay paypal and ebay and buy postage stuffs you may even loose money for a super low priced item. I do, however enjoy browsing shops and clothes I like to try on, but shoes being UK 13 can sometimes be hard to find and being 6ft7 long legged jeans are tough in my area. I expect in the long future we will have digital clothes shops or digital tokens which show virtually how something will look on you without needing to go to the store. I find the issue of leaving the home not that I'm fat and don't do anything, that I do too much and my free time is THAT limited that going to a store can really burn out a day where I coud be doing things I actually want to do. I recally over xmas. I went to the stores. It was cool, a really good vibe with everyone rushing aroud making plans for their own lives. I was with a friend at the time and we were hunting for gifts. Because of the location the fuel cost about $30 and then it was a day wondering round and looking for things. I did not find 'that special gift' for a family member because I didn't want to buy standard trash item and what I knew they would like I found it not. I went online later and found exaclt the thing I was after and they liked it very much. Going to the shops, while a fun day out looking around was a waste of time since I just spent money on fuel and 'lost' a day. I noticed also that the supermarkets for food seemed to have mostly the same christmas food items with nothing that exciting or different from store to store. But, maybe I'm just picky.
  18. really. 10% / 5%. Are these numbers really worth extra price? IMO i5 and best graphics card you can afford for dcs.
  19. No f5. I can't afford it at this price :(
  20. Good luck landing your hornet on a grass runway. :music_whistling:
  21. I tried this. It does not work. ED support just closed my ticket.
  22. Yup, the rubbish AI makes for tough offline training.
  23. B-17 model, basic AI would be good to have though just so we can shoot it down, but an actual flying B-17 bomber would be an insane amount of work to get it to DCS level. I could imagine an FC3 level would be plausable, but then why bother because I doubt many people would want 'dumbed down' modules diluting the current high quality. Better to not have it than have it half done possibly. I woudn't say never, but would it really sell in 3 years when everyone has got bored of waiting and gone on to other things.
