  1. Assuming with the release of the F-14 and/or the F/A-18 that we get an updated CVN can we also expect to have precision instrument approach capabilities associated with that said CVN? Such as the ICLS, LLS, PAR, and will we also have a FLOLS, IFOLS, or the MOVLAS?
  2. Awesome let us know how it goes for you!
  3. It's a long read but it is the best collection of information on Sub-Sonic, Trans-Sonic, and Super-Sonic aerodynamics published anywhere in the world. All of which is still relevant and taught in today's aviation industries and the military. Hope you like it.
  4. Enjoy! http://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/media/00-80T-80.pdf
  5. http://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/pilot_handbook/media/PHAK%20-%20Chapter%2015.pdf Start with page 15-24 should help a bit...
  6. You shouldn't have to, all I did was download the PDF and it worked great. I'm in the process of binding these into my Flight Crew Checklists binder where it will be read and then Re-read again and then finally be put away anxiously awaiting release.
  7. I know I'm a fan of the Huey I'll leave this here for everyone else that is as well, enjoy! http://ri.search.yahoo.com/RV=1/RE=1436490812/RB=/RO=8/RU=http%3a%2f%2fwww.usarmyaviation.com%2fDocuments%2fuh-1%2fUH1HVCL.pdf/RS=^ADAisKH6sJBALQlCq3soy0jAo8IVJI-
  8. Often times with their hands tied behind there back! Moral of the story is clear, practice makes perfect. Do it the same way every time and you will get the hang of it.
  9. The DCS Mercenaries The DCS Mercenaries are currently recruiting. We are a more casual gaming community, we are looking for players 18 or older (some exceptions maybe considered) Please apply at http://www.dcs-mercenaries.enjin.com/ Unlike most squadrons out there we have to buy our own munitions, aircraft, fuel, and wingmen should we choose to use them. We fly official missions that are made in house to earn virtual money. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me! Thanks for your interest!
  10. I would love to fly the Combat Caravan in DCS or even the C-26. I'm biased though these are the planes I fly day to day IRL...
  11. Is there any chance on getting the C-26 into DCS?
  12. Excellent review! I was doing OJT so I couldn't make the stream thanks for the re-cap!
  13. Were you doing a rocket run or a bomb run? For dropping bombs I usually get the pipper well into the dive and will be at a fairly steep nose down attitude (regardless of my selected escape maneuver setting). You may want to try starting out at a higher altitude and play with it a bit change your attitude until you get it sorted (also remember your altitude vs. the target altitude. Good Luck!
  14. Hope this helps. I recommend downloading the PDF version other wise you will have to deal with a few adverts off the hosting website. http://www.scribd.com/doc/51612608/NATOPS-Pocket-Checklist-F-14A-B#scribd
  15. Yes something like that.
  16. Tronix if you were running three lolliput and three cougars do you think your usb hub would put out enough power?
  17. Anyone ever used the FLIR settings in the TGP to walk themselves down onto the airport surface on a bad weather day at an airport without a published approach procedure? If so do you have any tips to make life easier?
  18. A couple of tips from an amateur, keep your feet off the pedals once your connected, don't watch the boom watch the aircraft, I turned the sensitivity of my joystick down a bit to make everything a bit smoother, anticipate power reduction or addition as it takes a few seconds for the turbines to spin up or down to the new power setting, I use a bit of nose down trim to account for the tendency to pull the nose high when closing in and most importantly practice, practice, and more practice
  19. The range at which you intercept the glideslope will vary with Altitude, what is your final approach altitude AGL? (Just to clarify for the question I am asking, assume final approach on an ILS is glideslope intercept.)
  20. I've been shooting approaches quite a bit in DCS in the recent months and in many cases I can have a positively ID'ed, localizer signal with the HSI and ADI indicating a good track down the centerline of the localizer beyond 20 DME...I will check Batumi again when I get off of work. Which approach were you shooting the ILS runway 13 or the LOC BC 31? IRL ICAO localizer service volumes project out at several different angles, at +-35 Degrees of the centerline of the Localizer you should be able to pick up a reliable signal out to 10 NM, if you are +-10 degrees of centerline you should be able to pick up a reliable signal out to at least 18 NM assuming no obstructions to the signal itself exists. As far as the glideslope is concerned the standard glideslope is certified out to 10 NM from the transmitter, however in some cases it can be certified out farther than that. Also consider typically a glideslope is set at 3 degrees above the horizon, providing you with some range and altitude queues based on several marker beacons, the inner, middle, and outer marker. If you are at the outer marker and assuming a 3 degree glideslope is present your altitude for glide slope intercept should be roughly 1,400 feet above transmitter elevation. At the middle marker your altitude should be roughly 200 feet above the transmitter elevation. Hope this helps. All information came from chapter 1-1-19 of the 2015 Airman's Information Manual. http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/atpubs/aim/aim0101.html see figures 1-1-6 and 1-1-7
