Messages and VO won't kill the mission and you can still fly it, so it is simple to modify it yourself from single player to client (if it still stays 1 plane only). The only thing that can make it not flyable is if the triggers get affected. Will have to test it later on with a teammate
-
I guess that's very simple, you just go to mission editor, open the mission and change the unit from "player" to "client" and save it.
My only question is whether will affect the triggers or not -
-
I agree with many here, the deck is way too dark. Even if it is like that IRL when applied to the sim makes it almost impossible to line up even in good light conditions. Other than that, amazing as always.

It is our pleasure, Ripper 106.
Oh was it you doing Riper 106 voiceovers? Good job IM!
I found a very tiny detail regarding messages; even if you miss one GBU at the range (so 1 miss plus 2 hits required to continue leaves you with only 1 bomb left) the radio message you send later on still says you have 2x bombs.
I hope someone makes some ground attack based campaign for the F-14 with "Training Day" quality.18 hours ago, eatthis said:is it a mission or a tutorial?
It's more than a mission, it's living a short movie where you can also decide it's outcome

Today it's one full month since the AIM-54s got broken (Nov 4th patch); such a game braking issue for MP...30 days without any fix...
-
It gets back to the magic I win button that the phoenix has been. But that conversation tends to get toxic fast.
Oh i really honestly thaught you had same serious info, or you were a RL F-14 pilot/RIO or engineer to write with such authority, so i'd rather waited to listen to you.
But ike Fenrir said, it's an argument that doesn't hold any water...the only important thing that was wrong about AIM54 previous to 4th Nov, was that sometimes if you lost track in TWS previous to the missile going pitbull, it would sometimes track anyway. But missile would fail many times, it wasn't a "magic kill button" at all. There also was the TTI issue not showing accurate TTI...but that wasn't an advantage for the 14, actually the opposite and not an important one IMO, you had that track tilting when active so that's all you needed.
You say now it's ok overall? Very easy to refute; why was the F-14/Phoenix banned from servers then? Why so many bug reports since then like never before? A little list for you:
. AIM7 won't track in PD-STT
. AIM7 will loft even in PAL at ranges as close as 4nm
. AIM54 don't give RWR warning when launched by a human RIO in TWS (pitbull)
. AIM54 will eat the first chaff or go totally dumb
. TID tracks won't tilt when missile goes pítbull
There you have a small list from the 4th of november patch up to today, and those are just some of the known issues.
So we didn't get used to something not real, we got used to a great module that needed a little tweaking and now has been broken for MP specially, and i hope ED fixed ASAP

That's a lot of If's for Most Multiplayer.
Well, i replied to the "guns fight is the only one a tomcat can win" comment. Not a lot of "if" really, the problem is you see many guys flying only with jester, and getting into low level furballs wich is a mistake. When the F-14 it's flown as it should be flown, it's very difficult to defeat.
I'd argue, its not broken, but overall more close to reality. You just got used to an unrealistic setup IMO.I disagree completely, but please elaborate a bit in how "we got used to an unreallistic setup and now it's fine overall" and i might change my mind.

Yep the ONLY fight the tomcat can win ;P
A well driven F-14 with a human RIO dominates PvP; even more if you get to fly in a two-ship
(of course not now, after the 4th of november with last 2 patches ED made our Tomcats almost useless)

The Phoenix A60, and C47 are both behaving weirdly from my single player / single target test TWS auto launch.
- Any cranking maneuver to support the Phoenixes causes the missiles to become "Chaff-seekers". I suspect the pitbull code causes the Phoenixes to become chaff-seekers as well. The missile can track the aircraft and suddenly make an abrupt turn towards chaff.
- However, if the Tomcat, maintains nose-hot within 10 to 20 Degree azimuth of the target (i.e. no cranking), the missile chases the target effectively. Usually results in a kill.
This is rather strange since Jester now cranks the radar automatically if the Tomcat cranks away. Why would the nose position of the Tomcat matter so much?
The summary is that the Phoenixes now behave like an odd-SARH missile, that pitbulls destroy evil bundles of chaff. I suspect this was not what the devs intended.
+1
I now have exaclty the same experience when flying with my RIO, when you crank your AIM-54 goes dumb
Anyone should know that F-14 nails and an unknown missile warning means Phoenix. Regardless of what it is, it should be defended.Maybe we are talking about the same but as english is not my native language i'm not fully sure about your sentence. In a multi-aircraft environment i.e MP PvP servers, or tournaments like SATAL, you get a lot of nails on your RWR; many times from the same direction. Why should anyone get the advantage to know 100% for sure that a Phoenix is on it's way? Of course ppl who knows their stuff will defend preventively from any 120/SD10/AIM54...but knowing that a specific missile is going for you is an important advantage when there shouldn't be, you don't defend the same way -or at least take different margins- when a Phoenix it's on it's way.
Its not done on purpose, U is for unknown on the RWR. This clear when you realize that the F-14 itself shows AIM-54s as a "M" not a "U". ED simply hasnt updated the RWR codes for their jets. The SD-10, for exmaple, has been ping-ponging around between showing as a "M" vs a "U" (RN it shows as a "U")
Exactly
- Any cranking maneuver to support the Phoenixes causes the missiles to become "Chaff-seekers". I suspect the pitbull code causes the Phoenixes to become chaff-seekers as well. The missile can track the aircraft and suddenly make an abrupt turn towards chaff.
-
I think perhaps you misunderstood. It is supposed to show up as a "U", not an "M". It will be confusing but if that's what it's supposed to be, then you have to assume its a Phoenix.
I'm on the other end of the Phoenix, i'm the one who launches them (i didn't buy F-16 nor F-18 ) so i don't want my "victims" to have a special help when they get a pitbull warning from my AIM54s.
All other ARH missiles in the sim show as a "M" in RWRs when they go active, also in the F14s RWR you get an "M" when a phoenix is going for you.
So it's a bug indeed, and what the post above this one says makes a lot of sense, and needs to be fixed.
-
Maybe i expressed myself not clearly, cause i mean exactly that: F16/18 when they get AIM54s warning it shows as "U" on their RWR when it should show a "M" otherwise is non realistic, and a clear advantage for any competition. Please fix this.
-
This game braking bug for MP is still there, F-14s even were removed from servers after previous patch, and now after weeks without it in servers, the bug still there after yesterday's patch.
AIM-54s don't give RWR warning when pitbull after launched in TWS. Fix it please.
-
Yes, and please ED fix the no warning on RWR by AIM-54s when launched in TWS (when it goes pitbull), it's a game braking bug for MP.
Also, please fix F-16/18 RWR showing a "M" instead of a "U" when they get a Phoenix warning.

In my case i didn't lose any keybinds. I just had to add again the 2 modiffiers i had, it took 10 seconds, and all my prev keybinds were OK. X-52 pro

Really amazing and detailed update and we are just 14 days away from the 14A's. It's obvious the love and passion put to these modules. What a bunch of geniuses!
-
And the Tomcat in the video is a high viz 80s VF-84 jet, which may not be a coincidence :P
And there might be one less to guess then, i guess  :music_whistling:

Please make cockpit dirt optional...way too clean now

Dirt effect is way better, at least it gives you the sense of looking through something like IRL, some kind of depth...otherwise it's just empty space between you and the outside. I'm really sorry if a couple of Polish aces are too hurt about it
You don't need clean cockpits to perform well in PvP...oh, cause yes, i know cause i fly the Balalaika PvP too.
