  1. I'm hoping for a F/A-18C/D model....but E/F would also be fantastic... I really like the legacy hornet. I would equally embrace an Eagle or Viper sim....any variant.
  2. VRS is creating a TacPack, where the fsx environment will be affected by weapons employment. You can already employ weapons with the VRS bug, but this addon pack will allow craters, smoke, downed airplanes etc.... should be sweet. ---oops didn't see this was already addressed! --- :) well, exciting possibilities anyway...
  3. The slant comes from the shadow of the dihedral in the wings...
  4. As old as this FM is, it still does the basics doesn't it? I mean, if you have the sim set to summer in hot weather, and with a heavy load, you're NOT going to be a speed demon. Someone correct me about the FM's in LO...I'm not a modding guru, but if it has any shredd of accuracy, the A-10 is a high aspect ratio wing (relative to the other planes) so it gets alot of lift, but it's just not build for speed....there's not that much to it. It's aerodynamically limited.
  5. Standared Temp. 15 degrees C. Standard Atomphere 29.92in Hg. or 1013.2 mb (hPa) IAS is the measure of the ram air, as it enters the pitot tube. CAS or calibrated air speed is IAS corrected for installation error. Meaning that the pitot tube opening isn't always in direct line of sight with the relative wind. TAS or True airspeed is CAS corrected for non-standard temperature (15.C and alt. setting 29.92). EAS or Equivilant Airspeed is IAS corrected for adiabatic compressable flow for a given altitude, and for instrument installation error. EAS is equal to CAS at sea level on a standard day. GS or Ground Speed, is the measure of your actual speed relative to an aircrafts movement over the ground. The wing, (all things being equal) has a set shape. Meaning it requires a certain airspeed to develop lift at sea level on a standard day. Any Altitude or temperature variation away from this will cause needed increase in ground roll for takeoff. As airspeed increases, lift increases. The turbine engine, uses basically, hundreds of tiny wings to move the same volume of air into a smaller and smaller chamber where it can be burned. If it's summer, and the air is hotter than standard, less dense, each of the compressor sections made up of essentially tiny winged shaped compressor blades (which can't change shape to compensate for the less dense air), require a higher RPM in order to produce the same amount of air flow and give the required thrust. The colder the air, the more oxygen per volume is moved through the engine which can be burned. Colder = more power available as thrust. Hotter = more power required to produce thrust.
  6. Thanks so much for the reply...great mod! I can't wait for the new M2000 models to be released! But in the mean time I've got enough to keep me busy for a while to come.
  7. After seeing clips from the movie "Les Chevaliers Du Ciel/Sky fighters" on youtube I decided I needed to take the plunge into the ADA mod. One question regarding the after burner: The shock cone/flame is gone? The way it's done looks good, but I thought I read in a thread somewhere that the afterburner had been redone for this mod?? Perhaps it's being done in the v.2 release? I can't remember! :) Basically, I just want to make sure that I have the burner reacting the way it should in the ADA mod. Thanks guys.
  8. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=956634374962818858&ei=yDXBSIX2HpHg-wGgstClCQ&q=Art+of+the+Kill A little dated, but very useful.
  9. AMD athlon xp3200+, 1g RAM, 512mb Geforce 7600gs - extremeG drivers (can't remember which one off hand but I could look it up after work- think it's 160), win xp home. Usually get about 18-25 fps with settings using the config editor - res 1280x1024, and heat blur on, advanced fog, canopy scratches on, water medium, Okay I no longer have the trees or pylon issues. I reinstalled the mod. But I still get the black cockpit... it's weird because I can run Full shadows when I use any other aircraft with no issues, it's only when I switch to simmod A-10 that I have the problems. So i guess I could just switch back and forth from full to all plannar whenever I switch aircraft...I just think that there's got to be a solution to the prob...
  10. Okay I thought that I got everything fixed, but really it ONLY works fine when I have All Plannar shadows. If I switch to Full Shadows I get this: Straight on centerline view slightly off centerline view
  11. Just getting back into FC after a LOOOOOONG hiatus :) ..... I'm getting some really funky shadows, it's almost like some of the trees are extending from the ground up to high altitude and are about 10x the size they should be? very weird since I haven't changed anything since I uninstalled last...any thoughts? I have the simmod a-10 only thing diff.
  12. The FAQ says: "The DCS: Black Shark manual will be very comprehensive. It will cover in detail the Ka-50 and its systems, flight and combat operations of the helicopter, and the game interface. The manual will be approximately 500 pages long." Will these systems be primarily the navigation and weapons systems? or will things like aircraft limitations such as engine operating temp. and oil pressures etc. also be modeled and therefore required to know?
  13. i've posted this question in a couple of forums, does FC support dual throttles? I finally got my hands on a suncom FCS and FINALLY found the original drivers for it, but I'm wondering if it will even work in FC? Plus, I'm still waiting for my 15-pin USB adapter to arrive...sigh....
  14. one question, do you have multiple bandits around, or are you doing 1v1?
