  1. I was very literally shopping bigass monitors and looking at add'l switch banks etc for my desk... but... Oculus will render all of that pointless. As for the argument of taking JTAC notes, there doubtless will be(are?) in-game notepad applications in the future for scratch-pad work. It's not rocket science. The best part about Oculus is it means that my desk can now be JUST my desk, and all I've gotta do for DCS/Elite Dangerous/Insert sim name here is just build/buy a chair/seat rig which accommodates pedals, stick, throttle, collective and a mouse surface - get some extension cables for everything, and boom, virtual cockpit in my office that does not also occupy my desk - I work from home 8hrs a day for a living - so my desk can now be good at begin a desk, rather than mediocre at being a two things. Oculus absolutely will render home cockpits obsolete. Personally I've always thought the home sim builds were rather silly and excessive, especially since you're using TrackIR to look around in the game, yet your "cockpit" remains stationary (why would you do that?) and on top of that I've always backed a few feet away from the monitor every time I see somebody sitting in a "home cockpit" wearing a helmet, gloves, flight suit, visor down, oxygen mask... it's honestly kind of frightening, lol. The entire premise of DCS with the fully realized clickable cockpit was to put you in a VIRTUAL world, and it does an exceedingly good job of that, building a sim-pit at home basically throws all that work ED and the devs did in the garbage, though you did pay for it at purchase. I personally believe Oculus will breathe new life into the flight/space simulator market in terms of new consumer dollars to be spent, Oculus will make DCS and any other flight sim infinitely more accessible, applicable, realistic, immersive, and in DCS' case specifically - it will basically be the other shoe we've all been waiting on to drop. After Oculus, the only thing missing will be your body moving physically in a seat to mimic aircraft attitude... and now with oculus rift, simulating THAT just became a much simpler task than before!
