  1. My bad, I could have seen it was a joke (I think I missed the smiley...:-)).
  2. Done. You can see it on page one of this thread.
  3. Oh no...not again please. We are not here to debate on the legitimacy of the nuclear weapons. Here is an useful quote : "Dear users! We urge you to refrain from discussing political topics on our forums. Thank you for understanding."
  4. You'll see, if you use the track file, that I wasn't overspeeding the engine during the second shut off.
  5. Here is the track. You'll notice two shut off, one at high speed and the other one at about 700 kph IAS if I remember well. Please do not comment on the choice of the target, it was just a training on a ghost town... The first shut off happens after the atomic raid when intercepting the lonely S3 and the second one after the S3 gets destroyed by two RS missiles. atomic_bomb.trk
  6. Nope, steady attitude.
  7. Hi, Maybe I am missing something but I recently noticed that the engine kept shutting off after having used the afterburners (when the throttle is back to full dry). I don't remember it behaved this way before... It is during a custom mission, aircraft armed with RN-28, 4 missiles and SPRD-99 (jettisoned after the take-off). Did I forget something ? :suspect::suspect:
  8. I was about to report this as a bug... Jeeez, they did that in RL ?? Nice detail, LN ! The more I fly this plane the more I love it.
  9. So what's the name of the switchbox that commands the bomb in the Mig-21 cockpit ?
  10. Any news of the draft version ? Thanks.
  11. What's the name of the switch box that commands the bomb ? I thought it was a part of the PBK-3 system. http://www.16va.be/page_control_boxes_eng.html
  12. Jorge, thanks for your input.
  13. Exactly what I needed. A big thank you.
  14. Thanks. How do you release the weapon ? What switch do you use ? What about arming the device before the launch ? I tried a similar approach than yours yesterday (after having seen a very interesting drawing on a Belgian website) but my RN-28 desperatly dig a hole in the ground without detonating after a nice parabolic trajectory. :-)
  15. Hi, Considering I have now managed to understand the flying and AA mode of the Mig-21, being quite confident with this marvelous aircraft, I wanted to take a step further and try the AG mode. The included tutorials in the module are just perfect but I didn't find any about the use of the PBK-3 device and the tactical nuclear bombs RN-24 and RN-28. Do you know of any around ? Maybe youtube or in this forum ? Thanks in advance,
  16. Thanks ! I just tested with the RS-2US missile and it works too (lights 1 and 2, depending on the side Of the pylon). Being a radar missile, you need to set the selector on radar and not IR for this particular weapon. A little mistake in the manual.
  17. Nobody on this one ?
  18. Hi, These 3 lights are located on the right of the gunsight, per manual informations they are supposed to light up when using either the R60 (light 62) or the RS-2Us (lights 1 or 2) missiles. In the manual, one can read these lights are used when the IR seeker has locked a target. I am confused about this. First, I have never seen one of these lights on and secondly, weren't the RS-2US supposed to be radar missiles ? Thanks for your enlightenment.
  19. Yup, it is this doc that gave me the idea to "test" the maneuver abilities of the DCS Mig.
  20. Here is my latest try. I followed your advice and it seems it worked pretty nicely (even if it wasn't 3000ft) :smilewink: crazy_egyptian_pilot.trk
  21. Ok I'll give it a try this way, thanks. You tried at what altitude ?
  22. Hi fellows, I guess most of you heard about this dogfight during the Yom Kippur war in 1973 during which an Israeli Mirage III and an Egyptian Mig-21PF fought. An episode of the Dogfights series depicts this particular event, when the Mig-21 being chased by the Mirage made a desperate maneuver to evade the fight. The maneuver, quite well-known, a split-S was attempted at a very low altitude (ca. 3000 ft) while the safe value found in the Mig-21 manuals was set at 6500 ft. It seems that the Egyptian made it and managed to recover the plane just before crashing on the ground. Unfortunatly for him, the Mirage shot him while he was just a sitting duck with no energy. No political debat here, just a question. Has anybody here tried to reproduce the maneuver at this altitude ? I know it is not the same plane nor the same engine but before the latest patch, I made many attempts and with the former FM, I managed to "survive" a split-S engaged at about 3500ft. Too bad I didn't save the track. Yesterday, I tried again but the new FM didn't allow me to repeat it. The lowest and safest starting point was about 5000ft. My "recipe" was to begin the split at about 600kph IAS, throttle on idle and AB when the pitch is approaching 0° at the end of the maneuver. I'd be curious to read your experience about that.
  23. The real life controls are located on the throttle (rotation of the handle). The keyboard keys can be set with the options, choose the keys that fit the best for you. I use a Warthos Hotas and a profile found on the net (made by PSY), I control it with a button on the throttle. Very easy this way.
