    IFF?

the iff is for your own aircraft to prevent friendly radars from saying your hostile and friendly sams from blasting you from the skies
  2. It will be which ever pilot is better in terms of against hornets gero nearly 2 years ago already talked about it Although training dogfights aren't the same as dcs dogfights because real life usually has a floor of 6000ft or more instead of dogfights reaching the floor and fighting at around 100-500 ft above the ground. but if its pure guns you should dominate the vertical fight compared to hornets
  3. against aircraft like the mig-19 on a cold war server it should be perfectly fine, but I wouldn't trust it against anything that has countermeasures unless you are firing in their blind spot
  4. If its a low intensity conflict you wouldn't need or want to be in "Beast mode" to begin with.
  5. those ranges are for targets flying at 30k feet for a semi large target that does not maneuver to evade, plus an active/pitbull range of 80km is completely unrealistic, it would give the target to long of an opportunity to notice and evade the missile. more accurately it is probably the same as the amraam so between 10-15km range or ~10 seconds until predicted impact time. in terms of radar range it really comes down to the aircraft you are looking for but most sites say the eurofighters radar range is about 160km for a fighter sized target, so in terms of dcs it should be near the f-14s current detection range.
  6. the 80s charlie hornet likely would have nctr, infact the mirage 2000c originally got its nctr in the 80s a SA page with link 16, sure link 16 was not a thing in the 80s, but the us did use datalink, the tomcat uses link 4 for example, its not unbelievable that the hornet used link 4a originally. stronger engines we can't do much about Honestly the major thing is the jhmcs, which in the mission editor we can disable, problem is though they can tell ground crew to put it back on
  7. we know at the very least the initial 530 missile, fingers crossed we also get the super530f pic from 2017
  8. most of the aircraft we have ingame can be considered coldwar by limiting weapons hornet with no amraams and aim-9xs is essentially a coldwar hornet same as the viper too whilst there are 24 modules that can be used and considered in the cold war era if the mission maker limits ordnance if the mission maker is lazy and does not limit ordnance then there can be considered 18 modules that are in the cold war there is a total of 10 ww2 modules, and 2 modules that are completely beyond the scope of cold war off of the top of my head there is 8 out of 10 modules that are cold war that are coming eventually that we know about, it jumps up to 18 out of 22 modules if we include razbams plans
  9. interesting idea but ed were denied their purchase request for the tornado about sources from the aircraft manufacturer. It is unlikely that truegrit would be able to succeed with that. I also wouldn't worry about them doing the f-4f its to far out, the eurofighter will likely take at least 1.5-2.5 years for release and then a couple of years finalizing it. Besides why would you want the f-4f? It did not have sparrow capability and the ice variant wouldn't work for cold war with its amraams.
  10. overall pretty unlikely, more likely for early-mid 2022 its not entirely impossible however, depends on how fast they can get the textures done since that is usually the hold up for most modules entering Early access from third party devs
  11. they said german aircraft and with the focus of A2A initially, although we might see features that are not on german aircraft. For example we saw photos of the EuroFIRST PIRATE so who knows what we will get on initial release.
  12. Hopefully we get info about the possible weapons relatively soon, I am curious if they are going to go with a strict only Spanish variant in terms of weapons or be more liberal and go for weapons generally on the mirage f.1 variants either way this module will be a nice sight for cold war servers
  13. A really nice idea for multiplayer servers that have a bunch of aircraft slots, would really save some time
  14. those track files i believe are for voice input, I have no idea if those letters are the same across the board for other eurofighters to coordinate, its possible for ease of doing DVI and it would make sense, however at the same time you can just have flight lead assign them to two, three and four. the link of the german website with the sa page top down also shows that it will have something similar to the sa page for the hornet, so yes it should have the same datalink integration as the hornet. (although you should be able to fire at datalinked targets in the eurofighter that are not painted by your own radar or irst but thats a limitation of dcs itself based on the lack of ability for the jf-17 to do that) for the striker helmet they should be able to look around and see the targets although info about the first striker helmet only is a bit hard to come by
