  1. except that we are being charged $800 no matter what. imagine if our dollar went down to 0.50? would you expect them to increase the price of the rift?? all hell would break loose. they have stated that the initial price is what we pay, they built in to the equation currency fluctuation... so were stuck paying whatever was listed when we ordered...ouch i know. its actually about 770$ right now, were about $100 ahead. and as canadians they wont let us pay in USD which is ****ed...i have paypal full of USD and its literally going to get converted/fee'd and given to oculus. so silly...
  2. the 780 is probably not a good candidate for sli. you need the 9xx series to fully take advantage of the vr software. I would look for a used 980 on your local classifieds and see if you can pony up for little $$. you can find 980s with crazy warantys intact still, its the same as buying a new card essentially. i remember there are some 980s with 10+ years warranty... im waiting for the 980s to go under 500$ locally and im in.
  3. haswell-e+ and a single 980ti or 980 sli and your beyond good for time. just wait till the devs and nvidia/amd start bringing the proper software. we will see some amazing stuff when each gfx card in sli or crossfire is dedicated to each eye...Woooo. will always need beast rigs for VR as its double the normal resolution and MUST be 75 or 90 fps locked. but things will only get better as the headsets come out
  4. dsr is based off of the display selected, since direct mode doesnt show up like a secondary screen you are not super sampling. the resolution is defined by DCS. So maybe within dcsworld with the oculus on you can increase the res manually?
  5. I came across this in case anyone needs to switch back and forth runtime for other games/demos. works perfectly!
  6. interesting, I keep forgetting direct mode doesnt allow adjustments as if it were a separate screen. pros and cons, however extended mode should never have existed...
  7. running 8gb dual chan, but upgrading to 16gb quad chan Will it help? probably not. here is the spec from the beta page Recommended system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+; RAM: 16GB; Hard disk space: 30 GB; Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX780 / ATI R9 290 DirectX11 or better; Joystick; requires internet activation.
  8. Ouch, that is rough if its sdk based. we probably wont see a fix for that for some time wow, some pretty intense technical reading https://developer.oculus.com/documentation/pcsdk/latest/concepts/release-migration/
  9. submit that to the bug section, it may be important for them to see
  10. so your running in direct mode NP? wow 5820k@4.6 and a 980 should smash this, cant wait! i have seen many using 0.6 and running in extended, as direct mode is not as smooth/working correctly for them.
  11. To make things easier and quicker for others to find, lets keep the info/tests for 1.5 and oculus rift dk2 in here. I have yet to get home and setup, but let me know the basics please. 1. vsync on or off? (i have already read users turning vsync off, which is usually not advisable in the rift) 2. Crash fix? 3. settings and rig specs 4. runtime? most ive seen are 0.6 in extended, how is direct mode 0.7?
