  1. My post is saying don't touch the throttle DURING start. As in if you are touching the starter button as well as fiddling with the throttle, you're wrong. The way I learned is set to idle before you press start. Then once temps and pressures are stabilized move to fly. But that's how I do it. Never had a flame. That's also how the computer does it for autostart if you watch. Maybe the book procedure is different
  2. My post is saying exactly the same thing your post is. It's not muddying anything. I was reaffirming what you said.
  3. You aren't supposed to be any "rolling" of the throttle at all during start. You set the throttle once and leave it. You are getting fire because it's too much fuel. Look at the throttle while you do this: press page up to give it full throttle, then page down to lower the throttle to the idle setting.( It will stop twisting) THEN press and hold the starter. Don't touch anything else, just the starter button. You should not get a fire
  4. A door gunner without hard points is just called a crew chief ;) haha

Use force trim. Like constantly. And saturate the collective towards the beginning of the curve because that's when you need the most precise control.
  6. Don't take the ride. Take the Huey

Oh, I've already made an inquiry. Though I decided to pass because I am not a fan of modifying my game. Once you start modifying, outside of developer's intended product, that opens the door to crashes, incompatibility issues, and other things that start to degrade gameplay.

So cool. All I want is to fly in a squad of like 2 or thee guys and do just this. Why is it so hard to find? Lol
  9. A chinook can carry itself! Without blades, engines and transmission of course haha
  10. Ok, maybe I'm weird but if I want to circle I just bank in the direction I want, and engage autopilot. It continues the orbit it that direction, at that bank angle. So if you are manually piloting a turn that is circling you perfectly around your target, you should already be good to go once AP is engaged. If you press l-control l-shift h, it shows you if the autopilot is in orbit or level mode. I think orbit is alt- a. Whenever I switch to gunners, autopilot auto engages in level or orbit mode.
  11. This video gave me ants in my pants! Where the flip is our Vietnam Campaign!
  12. Control helper? You mean like Force Trim?
  13. Also, see if you can find a cover or just plain instrumental of Machine Gun. That may work
  14. Now that was a legit BadAss mission! It unfolded like a movie. A I literally stopped eating for 10 minutes and was just watching with my mouth agape. The immersion factor was right there, the running troops, the look and feel. I enjoyed watching it.
  15. Same thing in real life. When I first flew a Cessna 172 I was amazed at how much it was just bouncing around.
  16. I agree. Great sounds, cockpit. And I have in fact broken the gear on landing. My nose dragged along the entire length of the runway. Even the cockpit glass reflects the inside of the cockpit to the point it is almost distracting. It's so good, I actually did NOT know this was Beta.
  17. So, I'm just trying to get familiar with the F15C(After having a hell of a great time with the Huey). And am wondering if there is, or if anyone has created a type of Turkey Shoot mission? Enemy aircraft flying around oblivious. So I can familiarize myself with the weapons? I bought this on steam with no manual, no tutorials, no anything. I tried an instant mission with helicopters, but they spawn too close<10NM and then land making it hard to utilize my A-t-A stuff. I cant get AMRAAMS to lock. Sidewinders work. And Sparrows semi-work. Unless perhaps I just dont know how to use it :megalol: . Is there anything of the sort out there that I could download?:joystick:
  18. I know whenever I fly Huey, I am constantly on Force trim. It's probably the button I most press in game. Hover? Force trim. Transitioning? Force trim. Slowing down? Force trim. Whenever I am coming in to land, I always reset my force trim with (cntrl- t) because it feels like there isnt enough "throw" otherwise. Dont know if its mental or a real thing. I feel like if i push the stick way forward, force trim it, recenter my physical stick, and then try to pull back, theoretically wouldnt the stick input only move back half as far as it normally would? Can someone confirm this? Anyway, no matter what whenever I FARP up, I always reset trim and then set it again in that magic, aft left position.
  19. Well, normally what will happen if you are doing an autorotation is damage that you cant see whih is: crushing of feathering bearings in the rotor head, over-stressing of rotor blades, damage to drive shafts and main rotor and tail rotor gearboxes may also occur. None of which you can really see. As you said, you fully lowered the collective so i assume the rotor rpm was "disconnected" from being turned by the engine. And therefore you would not see a rise in temps or pressures. If you were in Fast forward flight and didnt notice anything, you werent going fast enough. Because what will happen is retreating blade stall which would cause you to pitch up and roll over. I actually HAVE had that happen in game.
  20. I've seen the Mi-8. Ive worked with it up close and personal with the Polish army and I guess I am just a bit biased. They werent very well kept and had Russian(Or polish, they look the same to me) writing all over the instruments. Its not my thing. It reminds me of a not as good Chinook. Now THATs something I'd pay money for, though.
  21. A couple of my favorites, not as beautifully edited as heli3
  22. Regardless of whether "track it aiming" is checked or not in options, uncheck it then recheck it and then this should work. You should be able to control with the mouse. Make sure you try it on a quick mission(offline) first though. As I have noticed that on some servers, the gunner view and gun sights don't line up properly.
  23. If you look at a resting Huey normally one of the blades is higher than the other. I really can't explain it better than dahuu. The centrifugal force levels out the rotor disk once it gets up to speed. The same thing happens with my 700 size rc helicopters. When the rpm is low, the blades flop about and aren't lead/lagged properly. Stuck not centered, wind, uneven rotor disk geometry , blade weights. All these can contribute. Even in the it Apache, with 4 blades she stil flops about at idle rpm,(albeit not as pronounced as the game) but smooths out once you throttle up to fly
  24. runways correspond to compass headings. So runway 31 will point you to 310* when you are facing down the runway.
  25. It's a solid machine. Hardly has powertrain problems. Mostly Electronic gremlins
