  1. ED prides itself in getting things right with details, the 'raison d'etre' of a true simulation. Ergo ...
  2. When I started to work in the ME I was somewhat dumbfounded that the designers hadn't taken into account the standard international meteorological convention of designating the direction of wind FROM and not TO. With so much attention paid to the detail of aircraft and their systems the gaffe is surprising.
  3. Yes, I cruise at 2650/7 lb boost and the warning horn is activated, not where it should be.
  4. The AI flying routine is somewhat asinine, there's no getting away from it.
  5. Brit cockpits are the epitome of Heath Robinson endeavour.
  6. It was disconcerting the first time it happened, which was my first take off, but I thought it might present a good opportunity to practise prop feathering once up and away.
  7. 20mm brass was ejected through the chutes whilst the .303 was collected via chutes into a collecting receptacle. Nice to see the Mossie being at least partially litter conscious. From my reading the reason why the .303 was collected internally was that De Havilland worried about the potential of damage to the aircraft, presumably the nose, from large amounts of ejecting cartridge cases. 20mm brass being heavier would more reliably fall clear of the airframe.
  8. I use the Spitfire HD Gunsight Mod in OvGME since years ago for the Spit and with that installed for that type it seems to crossover into the Mossie as I have the same 'more realistic' reticule already.
  9. Yes, the difference between 'oiks' and 'erks' is considerable.
  10. If you set your wallpaper to Mosquito then you will get a piece clearly inspired by Ron Goodwin's theme.
  11. Many thanks for your help here. I have already started watching Sunstag's videos, he taught me about removing objects from the base map for example, and I will continue searching through his tutorials. I knew there was a User Manual for DCS but I just didn't think it might include the ME, the IL-2 User Manual never did but I will have a good read of that now. Yes, TacView which I do have is a great idea. I hadn't thought of that as a way to find out what happens to certain othe a/c in the mission. Great tips mate, thank you.
  12. The second part of the mission involves flying over the Channel towards Le Havre where a high altitude interception should happen. I set a flight of 190s to spawn in around 45 minutes after Mission Start and then to search and engage within a pre-defined area. By the time I get over there they are nowhere to be seen, so I guess my method of getting them to appear is not working. I have the flight placed on the map, what more do I need to do for them to come alive?
  13. Thanks for the reply mate. The 'On Take Control' refers to simply the moment when I am in the cockpit which is momentarily after the start. Without there being a user manual, it is so difficult to understand the logic here in the trigger section but there are three columns so my assumption was that conditions can be set to fine tune the experience. This is clearly much more basic than at first appears. Thanks very much for your assistance here and for the alarm sound too.
  14. Everything above I tried so I'll post the mission file here and I bet that it's something so bloody simple and obvious that I will kick myself. 332nd Fighter Group OTU.miz
  15. I had tried all the above except the 'Time More' so I shall try that. The ME may even be somewhat 'buggy' as when I first tried to set the alarm up it did work but after trying to improve the settings it has steadfastly refused each time. I shall persevere, thank you for your assistance. EDIT: I have gone through lots of different combinations in the trigger settings but nothing works now. The alarm did sound when I first set it and since then the ME refuses to play, with the same conditions as initially set. Strange!
  16. Hello I have set up a trigger zone but I cannot, despite all my best efforts, get an Air Raid alarm whose sound I downloaded in .wav format and set in the ME, get the effect that I am looking for. I set the alarm to start and stop either at Mission Start or under different local conditions but all to no avail. Has anyone had better luck at using such an alarm as this? I want the alarm to start close to the mission beginning as soon as we are in our 'pits. Thank for any assistance.
  17. The Mosquito wasn't one of the original 6 a/c types so I sincerely doubt very much if you could use a saved slot.
  18. The videos that you watch have probably not been filmed through the VR lens. What you see in VR is not the same as what you would have seen on a monitor and I very much doubt if you can run DCS in VR at the same quality settings as you would in 2D.
  19. Yes, the 'two weeks' gag came from the days of the banana forums
  20. This is good advice, the OpenBeta is currently proving very unfriendly towards VR and DCS generally seems poorly optimized for that environment. Hopefully in time this will change.
