Performance is often equipment dependent. Syria does use more RAM.... but DCS maximises my 2080ti 100% most of the time in VR (HP Reverb = high res) which is great.... downside uses around 20-22 of RAM. High GPU % and high settings means sharp clear smooth play and for once the GPU is worth the price. With all the other maps the GPU is throttled by DCS to an average of 70% which is not so good. Downside is if you do not have a 32 RAM DCS probably uses a lot of disc writes which gives the stutter unless you drop your settings. i7 6700k OC 4.5 32 RAM GTX 2080ti For me I would say Syria is the most complex, best and high quality map we have. Far superior to all the other maps if you have the kit.

Sometimes works just fine point to point.... i.e. 1 WP but for me, never over a NSEC grouped WP route....
-
Has any one reliably managed to get TOT working either with NSEC or SEC routing... in accordance with RAZ's instructions
-
Hi Razor - all good I hope? Correction Lever Increase & Correction Lever Decrease are NOT control axis, they are for buttons / switches and assign fine... Maybe you were just in the wrong screen or have a local module corruption as I'm sure you know.... in the AXIS ASSIGN section... 'Corrector' assigns an axis to the collective twist grip throttle in my terminology... 'Throttle Left' and 'Throttle right' assign axis to the 'Engine Condition Levers'

In-Game Scratchpad Mod Available - Works Great In VR!
Gizzy replied to Fubarbrickdust's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks for sharing your MOD to RKUSA's original MOD... keyboard is a great enhancement :) to a great scratchpad :) -
DCS 2.5.6.54046 Open Beta downloaded yesterday 26th so soon after the update from the 19th. There are major issues... after a few hours, play sound, graphics, everything is badly effected by constant micro stutters. The game is unplayable at this point on the Caucasus let alone Syria. Set every setting to the lowest. Run Repair... disable all exports such as Tacview SRS etc. Run instant action free flight Harrier or Tomcat, same - unplayable. CPU running about 40% and GPU around 60%.... totally crazy. i7-6700 OC 4.5, 32GB RAM, GTX2080ti, z170Pro MB. Reboot windows, all good... settings to mostly MAX - no stutters... Repeatable. Cure = reboot Windows every hour and you'll remain sane. I suspect the equivalent of a DCS huge black hole is gobbling up memory until seizure and onset of Tourette syndrome...
-
:lol::lol: but there is truth there with the likes of the Tomcat... she is is heavy on the polygon count compared to the Helos...

Interesting, maybe its the dedicated server software .... dunno

MAP VIRTUALLY UNUSABLE Simplistic test, multiple aircraft types on airport and carriers to fly and get feel for the map. Map looks great by the way, nice colour blends. In SP F14's hotstarts on airfields throw up multiple coding error boxes.... memory usage very very high. In MP unless you have stacks of memory just forget it. Most aircraft you will not be able to spawn in and just float above the ground without cockpit. UH1H was okay though. Strangely enough hot spawn onto Tarawa in Harriers and even better, F14s worked fine - no terrain to load I suppose.... just water.... Numerous lockouts in MP and SP mode. On the MP mode, I get it with dedicated server and 8MB RAM.... but all other maps just fly with 20 aircraft no issues... SP PC runs 32MbRAM and CPU at 4.5Mhz... Shame....

It is relatively simple with some MODs, imagination and a working knowledge of the ME. I use roadside FOBS all the time in a similar fashion as used in Germany by the RAF dispersing their Harriers to temporary FOBs in woods etc... Mods in these pictures are from Upuaurt, Suntag, Dezimm and a bit of Gizzy's angel dust.... All are fully functional, Harrier & Helos, spawn under cover off road, taxi onto the road and take off with near max loads.... Landings are generally RVLs on the road. Repair / Refuel / Arm by the tenders roadside. Mobile Tacan too though not sure they were about 1980's. All are MP only on RAFAIR UK's and 1 SQN servers.

Stream Deck as a DX Button Box for VR
Gizzy replied to speed-of-heat's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Its down to each piece of software how it handles an action and where in the food chain it is... a well written software will recognise DX17 for example was sent by a device with a particular ID others just react to DX17 regardless of the device used. VA discriminates correctly Discord on the other hand does not... so in Discord DX1 on your joystick if set as PTT will also be activated by any other device sending a DX1, your throttle unit as an example. But them Discord is free and multi-platform... and well, that part is shite! -
one TARGET SCRIPT FOR all A/C & switch STATES
Gizzy replied to Gizzy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi, Haven't used this in years, mainly because I use other hardware now bar a throttle unit which is converted into a dedicated collective. I have updated the original file adding exclusions for the rudders new and throttles... Configure(&HCougar, MODE_EXCLUDED); Configure(&Throttle, MODE_EXCLUDED); Configure(&T16000, MODE_EXCLUDED); Configure(&T16000L, MODE_EXCLUDED); Configure(&LMFD, MODE_EXCLUDED); Configure(&RMFD, MODE_EXCLUDED); Configure(&TFRPRudder, MODE_EXCLUDED); Configure(&TWCSThrottle, MODE_EXCLUDED);Can't test it, hope it works for you... Kind Regards Gizzys-profile-july2020.zip -
vJoy is a device driver that bridges the gap between any device that is not a joystick and an application that requires a joystick. Info and downlinks plenty on Google. Simply put VJoy can create as many virtual joysticks as you wish each having up to 128 buttons and full POV, Sliders and Axes etc... It hardly touches resources and runs all the time.... you can see them in Control Panel > Devices etc just like joystick.... DCS and VA recognise them as such. Streamdeck has a plugin similar to CTylers without the great graphics in that you can assign buttons to output via vjoy [whatever no] device... so push a streamdeck button or toggle and vjoy outputs the defined DX code to DCS or VA... no need to use keybindings... Picking up the DX code button by VA and manipulating it through coding or whatever is fine if not long winded. I have also a plugin for VA that outputs to VJoy .... so voice activate whatever and VA via VJOY throws a DX code at DCS avoiding having to use keybindings in game... The list is endless.... you can bring in VJoy devices to Helios and assign them to functions so a screen touch can send a bespoke DX code at DCS.... You can get lost easily and the trick is knowing what you want and the best way of achieving it. Hopes this helps some and not muddies the water...

CTyler plugin is great and uses DCS export script which, for me, is not so good as I use Helios with it's own export scripting... I use a VJoy plugin for Streamdeck, unlimited virtual joysticks with 128 buttons + POV Axes etc as well. It outputs DX codes which are of course picked up by DCS without entering new keybindings for some functions etc... It can interface direct with VA as well if VJoy device assigned... then you have a choice... use the streamdeck functions for pauses, states etc or use VA for full scripting functionality... And yes I too use a custom button box (similar to DSD) via VA - makes things so easy to programme - VA is not essential for all DX codes you can have a mixture, some direct to DCS or picked up by VA and manipulated... Best of all worlds....

Stream Deck as a DX Button Box for VR
Gizzy replied to speed-of-heat's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Works an absolute treat, minimal resource, far easier to config than assigning new keyboards keys when not assigned in game, running helios so perfect, simple and effective. Good find, tnx for posting :) -
That pack was publicly released specifically for helos after a lot of mission furniture failed on the last major DCP upgrade. Subsequently that author withdrew the link as IIRC it may be incorporated in some form in a later airframe module. You can edit the miz file and edit out the mod and open the miz but I'll send you a PM :)

Great solution to help many.... ED, consider this please :)

Thanks for coming back SF... yes I tried all variants to no avail - most still moved it just 1 degree regardless or some just broke it ha ha... What I need to achieve to make this work is multiple mouse scroll inputs when a key is held down or at least a large number per push... or maybe, if extremely lucky.. Razbam put a binding to it..

Hi HB, Several are exploring the excellent Viggen in some of it's finer taskings. With the ELINT Pod and within the PG map any data received is totally useless with resultant rectangles huge but more importantly DO NOT enclose the sites. Example: Place a couple of SAM sites on an island fly round it and point your nose at the island on all the sub-cardinal points until a good head on signal is received for around 5-10 seconds on the RWR - I would assume that 8 good headings would receive some sort of accuracy but no, when looked on in the app or CombatFlite the displayed rectangle is about 150 x 100 MILES and does not even enclose the SAM site. Is there a bug or general problem with this map not being Northern Europe or am I missing something?

[REPORTED][OB 2.5.6.49314] Rearming on FARP causes crash
Gizzy replied to NeedzWD40's topic in Game Crash
Engage any service on a FARP, it crashes.... Fly the Viggen 50% of the time it crashes. Engage a Viggen service such as kneeboard interaction it crashes... etc. How the FARP crash was not spotted before release with the new Beta testers I can not understand unless it is hardware triggered. dcs.log-20200520-224254.zip test.miz -
Excellent plugin :) thanks so much for sharing.... works a treat and very easy to set up and get going.... All the bindings left out by the devs on the Harrier I can now easily access.... Great stuff  One I can not crack is the course bearing knob... only works in cockpit on a mouse scroll and in the plugin there is a function for it but only changes by 1 degree a button push ha ha.... anything springs to mind for 1 push to give multiple separate inputs whilst held down... just a thought...

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2732651/ Just tried it... works... button bindings may need some work but the keyboard bindings work fine. It's a program MOD not a saved game one.. use OvGME or similar.. As for realism, do not get caught up with hype... unless you you are flying with the same era aircraft and want a level flying field... Use the round ones and think look under the binos for the instruments just like they still do with some A/C. I know in the Falklands war we scrounged then 'new' NVGs from the US. Likewise I've used huge non standard contraptions fitted to weaponry to accommodate starlight scopes when they first came out.... when people want the best kit to deal with adversary they will come up with something to make it work.... Hope this helps some...

After update 22APR20 TARAWA deck bounce 200% worse
Gizzy replied to Gizzy's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
Thanks, my bad... I only quickly scanned the update and presumed, wrongly, it was a fix because it was bad.... ha ha now its worse.... but at least we know.... -
After update 22APR20 TARAWA deck bounce 200% worse with AV8BNA Aircraft sometime flung 10' high, fall and disintegrate.... handbrake on, plane arm at times can be likened to dancing on ice, the crew chief really gets annoyed shouting and many times just gives up with an unable to comply. Update notes mentioned a deck slide fix.... was it carried over to the Tarawa or the fix made deck slides worse....or is it Razbams problem... if so please move to appropriate topic folder... Thanks

Dr Google sayeth : 'A single PD is the measurement, in millimeters, from the center of one pupil to the center of the other. A dual PD is the measurement of the center of each pupil to the center of the bridge of your nose.'
