Slight turns wile taxing with pedals but without braking.
Shmal replied to Shmal's topic in General Problems
Now in DCS you can turning at the very low taxi speed where rudder is defeinetely inefficient! You may easy to check it youself! It has authority on very low speed without using brakes! it IS TURNING NOW! It cant do that! It is not the subject to discuss, sorry guys It is a notification of the bug for the developers! -
So, in reality MiG-21 has no any ability to make slight turns with pedals on the ground with no braking while taxing! It has no any mechanical devices for it and has no any way to turn like now we can do it the DCS by pushing one pedal. It has no steering nose wheel! It is free rotating wheel. It has to turn with one pedal and brakes only! I found pretty good video of taxing the MiG-21 where you easy to see like MiG-21 starting to turn after using brakes only, making a nod first:

Уважаемые разработчики! Планируется ли что-либо делать с излишней видимостью контактов на больших дальностях? Десятки километров или миль. Это не реалистично сейчас.

Guys maybe i missed something but where the posts concerning visibility of the contacts? Especially against the horizon background! It is unbelievable but it true in DCS now, to see the helicopter at 50 km or the jetfighter at 40 miles for example! We have so marvelous visibility! Has anyone already written about this problem? I have expected that it is so obvious but came here and could find any post for this topic!

Thank you Hiromachi!

I have added some additional information in my main post, to clarify the subject!

SPS system (BLC - boundary layer control, boundary layer blowing) works with these conditions only: 1. Throttle lever moved between SPS and Maximal marks on the quadrant 2. Flaps are in extended position between 30-45° (25° is take off position) 3. SPS is turned on Additionally automatic sent electric signal to make impossible to light the afterburner! That is mean the afterburner could not be working while flaps are extended in the landing position! If the pilot while approaching, with the flaps extended in landing position with throttle lever between SPS and Maximal marks, SPS has to be working. But if the SPS is in the On position on the left cockpit wall. If the pilot decided to move the throttle lever forward, to the afterburner position it won't light. But, the engine will bleed of energy because of changing the nozzle position. That is why it is unrecommended to do so in the flight manual! Here is the page conceraning this topic from the Russian manual of MiG-21bis:

Roger that!

Hiromachi! I was told to show and translate it to you! A page from flight manual concerning automatic of SPS system (BLC - boundary layer control, boundary layer blowing) So, the point is that it starts to work when flaps are reached 30-45° position and throttle lever is in position between Maximal and SPS marks on the quadrant. These conditions gives an electric signal to take an air from the engine and blow it to flaps. Plus it makes an electrically impossible for the afterburner to turn on!

Why AJS-37 flying 1.32M above the ground in level flight?

Matroshka is definetely the winner! -
Why AJS-37 flying 1.32M above the ground in level flight?
Shmal replied to Shmal's topic in Bugs and Problems
And second question is the time limit for afterburner! We just need to find this limit for Viggen! It cant fly with 3d stage of afterburner for like 20 min i am sure! -
Overheating is making impossible to fly at this speed for any aircraft! Dear, Heatblur! Even pilots and test pilots claims that 1450 km/h indicated is maximum for even test machines! 1.1M was not a problem for usual aircraft!

[FIXED] RB-75 is an unstoppable terminator missile

Yeah, but in a turn fight Sabre has an advantage because it's .50 machine guns have higher muzzle velocity what means it's need less G to pull in the turn to hit the target!

Watch this evaluation and comparing with F-86: I mean its a real Evaluation of MiG-15 by USAF

So I'd like to write a couple of good words to the developer of the Sirya map! I love it! This map is definitely the best map in DCS! It is the new level! pleasure to fly on the deck!
-
Yeah, Hiromachi! I would really appreciate it! I guess you understand why this topic is so hot for many of us! First of all, because we're indeed want MiG-21bis become an enough presice and decent simulated model of this iconic aircraft - we belive it's deserved it! Second is we are just a humble virpils flying on Cold War and want to see realistic air combats at least against F-5 what is quiet accurate module and we just want to use against it proper and real tactic! Thank you for your commitment and efforts! We are keeping our wishes!

You should not look to the TacView AOA it is not right AOA i think its just simple geometry angle between touching line to the arc of the turn and vector for aircraft. I guess. So we found that 1.2 lift coeff is maximal and has to be on 28° AOA on cockpit gauge! My estimating turn AT 0.31M was with normal afterbuner! No emergency aft. and as you see in cockpit i've got 2.8g, what is too much and overestimated

Hello, Hiromachi! I've checked myself the parameters in sustained turn at 0.75 Mach we talked before and it looks pretty correct! But me and not only me are really doubt about MiG-21bis behavior at low Mach number, i mean around 0.33M that is equal 400km/h IAS on the deck! To be clear it seems to us overestimated! With afterburner Max G-load in sustained turn that we have in game at 0.33M=400km/h is 2.8-3G can't be in sustain turn! Those data we have, show to us what such G-load might be like available G-load only. I mean you pull stick as hard as you can untill critical AOA and you're loosing speed and G-load is getting to smth. around 1.5-1.8G seems to us! And then you may set a sustain turn with not a good turn rate speed - this is normal behaviour! Our calculates shows 1.225 * ((0.33*1225/3.6)^2)/2 * 23 * 1.2 /(7000 * 9.81) = 3.1 that is reachable 3G in available turn but not in sustain turn! Its impossible to have 15°/sec for turn rate at 400 km/h at critical AOA 29° where lift vector is going to its shelf and then going down and drag has maximum value! Please pay attention at this!

I've just tryed the A4 for first time! I definitly like it! What i noticed: 1. shaking in the cockpit - would be great to have opportunity to adjust it in options! 2. gun fire is going above the central point of the default elevation of the grid - is it right? 3. there is no control indication right ctr+enter Thank you for the tremendous work!

Dear, developers! Please check the turn parameters! Maybe effectiveness of stabilisator was increased? Me and =RAF=FAB999 was trying to check different points on the diagram of the Variation G-Load in Steady Banked Turn from Operation Manual of MiG-21 and the diagram of the Maximum Available G-Load vs Mach Number. I was flying with Full Afterburner at 800 km/h on 1000 meters. It looks like current parameters a little overestimated in range 0.5-0.75G The picture shows a bit floating data of the speed on different parts of the circle, i know! But the G-parameter was pretty clear for me i saw it's not very depanding of it! It's defenetly not the 4.7G as it has to be! I'ts dancing around 5.5G! Check it yourselves please and let us know if i am mistaken and it is Ok! And thank you for the improvement of the nose gear behavior and others changing!

Appreciate it! Would be great!

Thank's to developers one more time for last update! Taking off now is great and it's tuned! Landing is perfect! I finally did my old wish - touch and go the runaway without drop the nose down! Here is the video: Couple days before i had opportunity to ask a real MiG-21 pilot quite thoroughly about taxing, rise the nose up while taking off, landing and the answers satisfied me! We have pretty accurate flight model in DCS now! I've never been flying jet, but when i was listening his explanations i was exactly understanding everithing and even more! I understood that our MiG-21 flight-model was made by pilot! Because only pilot could try to imply some destinctive features! Of course there are some staff still needs to be tuned but any way! Now the general, whole result is very good! So, one more exact thing i'd like to see is correct work of the SPS. Now i do not see the difference with SPS or without! But the difference has to be at least 20 km/h while landing! And the pilot told me about special effect of MiG-21 with SPS! He called it "effect of the spoon". It shows from 10 to 5 meters on approaching exact before leveling and holding! The craft is taking some force some ground effect which pushing it up and the pilot has to give the stick forward short time to compensate it! The reason of it he described to me like the flows from SPS are improving the effectiveness of stabilisators at this speed and it shows exactly with these conditions!
