  1. I'm waiting to hear confirmation from ED as to whether this is intentional behavior. Why should I install an update that already has one un-announced "joke" in it? How do I know that they haven't put in any other "jokes" that we haven't found yet? Go look at the bug reporting sections of this forum where people have reported spending hours using diagnostic tools looking for a hardware fault and then tell me this was funny.

I have experience with other software developers who started with "jokes" and "pranks" that eventually escalated into redirecting their customers' connections for a DDOS "prank" on a rival. I don't like installing software that has un-announced "features". It makes it hard to trust the developers. Especially with things like, just for example, paypal information. Or automatic crash reporting. Or all of the other ways that developers say "trust us" and rely on goodwill and their reputation. And 99.9% of the time that trust is fully earned. But I've experienced the 0.1% of the time when that trust is lost.

At the very least, ED showed horrible judgement. But what's worse is that they put this out as an urgent hotfix and even went so far as to say that people needed to update if they wanted to access multiplayer servers. And they did that to try to encourage people to download their "joke". So what happens the next time that there really is an urgent hotfix? "Haha, fooled me once" and people won't update.

Seriously, the problem with April Fools Day is that some people really think they are funnier than they actually are. Abusing people's trust when you want them to give you money and install your proprietary code on their comouters is just so far beyond stupid that words fail me.

So yes, I really will consider uninstalling DCS, or maybe just remaining with the version I currently have for the foreseeable future. At the very least, I won't be installing any updates if they really have shown that I should not trust their code. This isn't funny. At all.

Life is beautiful, enjoy it, don't waste it on silly complains.

  2. Another CTD. I was playing with some SA-3 in self-made mission, and I'm not realy sure what happened - I either pulled too many Gs and ripped my wings off or was hit by a missile which I was trying to evade, or both.

Last thing I heard was Jester shouting at me to eject, and so I did. The CTD that followed was kind of appropriate. :D

    No crash report, log included.

  3. Yes is a choice ;) I understand that is Early Access, it was only a suggestion for make e better service to customer.

    See you

Thank you for your suggestion, it is a great idea! I hope ED will listen to you and remove all the bugs with the next patch!

  4. Skidmarks cause big FPS drop, hope you can see it in the video where it goes from 60 to 20-30fps after puting some skidmarks on the runaway.

The performance drop is mostly noticeable in Hornet, but not exclusive to it.

    Track included, if it helps.

  5. Hi and welcome! :)

When you request rearming from the ground crew, do you get a popup arming screen where you can chose your weapons?

Also bear in mind that arming itself isn't instantaneous, it takes maybe 10-20 seconds to complete. The crew notifies you when it's done.

  6. What are your settings, and do you have this exact mission, I just set this up real quick, and can see it fine. I can do a comparison if you want, sun position makes a difference, as it does in real life.

Thanks for looking into it. I don't have the mission, it was just a quick one from the editor, but I recreated the new one with more-less same conditions (position, course, time of day).

  7. Look at this image - it's a tanker, 900 meters away. IRL it would be easy to see it, it would be so obvious, only a blind man would not see it.

And here it's barely visible, no contrast at all, almost blended with the sky. If you look slightly away, it is gone, while in real life you could easily see it with peripheral vision.

And this is a problem with visibility in DCS, where aircraft in close vicinity are hard to spot, not the ones 10 miles away.

  8. Thank grunf but have to put to mark label before ask to jester to find the point or after, because I have put the mark label before on the map and then open the jester menù and select steerpoint from map but nothing....

    Before.

Ofcourse, after the Jester enters the waypoint (you can actualy hear him do it), you have to ask him to select it by opening Navigation Utility, selecting Select destination steerpoint and choosing the newly created waypoint.

  9. There definitely is a problem with spotting in DCS, mostly caused by the fact that you can't cram the entire natural human's FOV into a small screen and expect it to be rendered in 1:1 scale.

Certainly zooming in helps, but you're sacrificing much of your FOV and peripheral vision. It would be like scanning the sky by looking through a straw.

IMO the best way to improve visibility is to vastly increase the contrast of aircraft against the background, to appear much darker against a bright blue sky, basically a silhouette. Same goes for planes against the ground, although it would be more challenging to render because of various brightness levels and color of different textures.
