  1. The FAQ says this is possible but I can't get it to work. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/505/#1445917 Can someone tell me exactly what to type and does this still work? I'm not sure if it's talking about dcs.exe or dcs_updater.exe. Neither works with -w "folder name". I want to have two separate DCS installations with different settings folders.
  2. I have this problem too. It's one of the most annoying bugs in my opinion.
  3. Does anyone have any data or rules of thumb about how far you can spot planes in real life? Another issue is that the minSize is the same for all planes. It should be a multiplier that scales with the size of the real plane. Also I don't see why enlarged should have a lower alpha value. I set mine the same as normal. It seems like planes within visual distance wouldn't be affected by haze much (when the skies are clear). I looked on youtube where they spot a plane by zooming in the camera and it looked about the same as it does up close.
  4. I have this problem while playing through the Ultimate Argument campaign. For example, it happened in the AWACS Hunt mission and the one before that at least.
  5. Thanks for taking some screenshots. I doubt many people would really play at a non-native resolution though. If I'm interpreting this right, and you get a similar number of pixels regardless of resolution, then this sounds like the right way to do it so everyone can spot things at a similar distance. I would like it to go a step further, and (past a certain distance) give you the same number of pixels regardless of FOV/zoom. I tried to calculate and I think I get around 100 pixels/degree at max zoom, which is probably close to real life, but I don't like having to rely on zoom to spot anything. I wish an easy to spot blob would appear when I have a comfortable realistic FOV.
  6. It's already stickied http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 so I am assuming openbeta:1.5 should be the version number (?)
  7. The manual says higher elevation increases missile range. Is that practical in-game?
  8. I didn't manage to join before blue already won but I'm looking forward to round 3. When might it start?

  10. This game really needs official persistent servers. There are lots of hugely popular online wargames these days. Maybe battles could last a few hours, and regional conflicts (with allowed aircraft, finite resources, starting positions, logistics, etc.) could last a few weeks. So you could choose any sort of mission (CAS, CAP, SEAD, JTAC, transport, CASEVAC, etc.) and receive points based on your mission performance, be on leaderboards, earn ace status, collect medals, and so on. Maybe a lobby system so friends could join as an element.
  11. Is this server public all week or only weekend events? Are there any special rules about joining mid/late game or spectating? I get "Connection Interrupted" every time. I have <50ms ping and I just forwarded port 10308 (?). Am I missing anything? Thanks edit: ok I connected now. I think it was because I had a generic name "Nick" which I changed.
