  1. Baltic, updating the Enemy Within 3.0 campaign for the A10C II, was that a fairly simple process for you i.e. simply swapping A10C to A10C_2 in the editor or mission file insdie the .miz? Or did you have to adjust a bunch of different things in addition to that. I am asking to get a better understanding whether it would be a lot of work for ED to finally update all the older campaigns for the A10C II (Red Flag 2016, Geargion Hammer, Sturmovik, Stone Shield). Ideally, i could completely uninstall the legacy version and fully focus on flying the upgraded A10C II.

I have edited the mission.miz with Notepad++ simply swapping A10C to A10C_2 for the player and flight members for a handful of campaign missions. Obviously its not ''update save'', and every DCS player needs to do this themselves right now. In the long run it'd be really nice if ED could do this so everybody can play with either the legacy or upgraded A10C.

  2. @Sabre-TLA You guys considering making more A-10C campaigns for NTTR, or are you just maintaining what you have delivered for the Caucasus theatre atm? Just curious whether the entire training and qualificatin suite of campaigns will be available where it makes most  sense i.e. NTTR. Buts thanks for clarifying that you have actually converted your campaigns as well.

@Yurgon I was a bit hasty in my statement and you are absolutely right, the new campaigns are for either both or outright require the upgrade. I am still on DCS 2.5.6, so i can't really check for myself which campaigns have actually been updated and added for A10C II. Can you confirm that none of the following campaigns are availabe for A10C II:

  3. Still, ED is shooting themselves in the foot here. Its one of the biggest omissions and could be rectified fairly fast and cheap. Its beyond me why they sell upgrades for their modules but have it released without content to play. And since payed campaigns are DRM protected its not as simple as loading each mission into the editor by hand. And again, why should every enduser do this manually if it could be done once for everybody by ED. Baltic Dragon is the only one who has done it for the Enemy Within 3.0 campaign afaik.

Why again should players upgrade if all the older content for their modules is not available?

  4. Hey, if you added a missions.lua file, you could then place the trainings missions in the proper F-15C trainings folder so that they show up under the trainings section in DCS. That way it felt like it always belonged there in the first place.

  5. On 2/3/2023 at 2:32 PM, admiki said:

ED announced they will focus on Huey/Hip this year. Of course, we have no idea when within this year and how much that will bring us.

Could you point me to that statement, please?

  6. Afaik they promised, and thats what is listed on the store page aswell, several campaings including one placed on NTTR:

    from the store page:

    • Caucasus campaign*
    • Mini NTTR DACT campaign*
    • Mini Caucasus introduction campaign.*
    • Instant action and single player missions

That mini NTTR campaign was than replaced with the already existing and sold DLC campaign by Bunyap. Anyway, i did not have an issue with it, we got other good stuff later on that was not part and parcel of the initial module specs, so i am not complaining.

@razer668 But why, you still have access to that campaign, it is part of the module that you have payed for. Fire up dcs and check the Viggen campaign section, its still there. You don't have it as a redundant DLC folder anymore though. But the exact same files exist on your hdd. Despite, since it is part of the module it has no DRM anymore so you could in therory make it a coop campaign without having to edit files outside the ME to get it working.

  7. Yes, apparently ED/Heatblurr finally got this right! Yes, i bought it too, but this dlc campaign has become totally redundant last year (or even 2019) when Heatblur added this campaign to the actual Viggen module to fulfill their promise for a full featured campaign. I reckon they figured it was the most sensible scenario for the Viggen on the currently available DCS terrains, and it was probably cheaper to make a deal with Bunyap/ED than to develop something separate.

I have been asking for removing this redundant for 1.5years and they finally did. Probably a good sign for them really trying to finish the Viggen overthe next couple of months. So you have not lost anything...except you now save 500mb on your harddrive for not having that campaign installed twice.

  9. And Cobra,.....for that tentative big mid November update, would you please be so kind and give this long standing issue about the previously seperate Viggen Red Flag DLC campaign, now completely redundant as it has become part of the actual module another push?

    Reported here:

On every DCS launch i get this red ribbon reminder to install this dlc campaign...which is obviously already part of the actual module.

  10. This might be due to some .net framework updates missing nor not being available on win 7. Searching for this very .dll file on the net gets results about a similar issue with the epic games launcher and folks troubleshooting it on Epic's forums. I reckon you needed to place that .dll in a different location in one of your windows 7 system folders or so, not inside DCS. The answer might be here: https://forums.unrealengine.com/t/prgram-cant-start-cause-api-ms-win-downlevel-kernal32-blah-blah-dll-is-missing/156022/63

Let me if you get it to work on win 7.

From your report it seems that 2.7 already does not even start without issues on win 7, even if you get it installed via steam. So i guess i won't waste time chasing this up myself and take a break from DCS until i find the nerv and muse to setup Win 10 according to my privacy standards and rip every bit of telemetry, auto-updates and Cortana etc. out of it. Maybe during the next winter season.

Maybe most of my EA DCS modules have fully matured by then as well 🙂

  11. @DeCypher You make some good points. I am on windows 7 and until a bad supprise on Wednesday i thought "win 7 ain't officially supported anymore with 2.7" meant ED would not lend support in regards to getting it to run or when experiencing bugs (which would be fine i reckon). But i can't even install the update or install a fresh additional 2.7 copy because the installation is completely blocked.

So i sure would like to know whether this is due to real technical differences (win 10 exclusive libraries or runtimes or something) OR if this is simply due to make a clean cut and have no hussle about win 7 users?

  12. I downloaded the map yesterday because of the freefly to see what the performance is. I have 24gb and even a simple instant action fills all memory to the brim, 23.4gb overall. Not an issue on the other maps anymore after i upgraded from 16 to 24. And its that weird issue where DCS seems to only use 6.5/14gb private bytes/working set according to sysinternals monitor, but still 23.5gb are filled to the brim when the instant you quit DCS 20gb are being freed up and you end up with the standard 3.5gb taken by windows. And i kinda would not want to lower graphical settings only to make this map run properly. The other ED maps are mostly fine now memory wise.
