  1. In short, the weapons computers can't make any determinations of different weapons on the same multiple/triple ejector racks - it wasn't designed to do this. Reason 1: Different weapons use different interfaces from the ejector rack to the bomb rack, and there's only one connection on both assets. Reason 2: Different fuzing/fuzing requirements would make this hazardous as hell on the ordnance crew loading and inspecting the munitions. Reason 3: Firmware limitations in use on most mulitple/triple ejector racks don't know how to talk to more than one type of device at a time. It would be like getting a Spanish translator to translate Chinese and Italian simultaneously.
  2. @EagleDynamics: Any updates or information for us? It's been a while since we've heard anything...
  3. Couldn't agree more, this seems broken... especially with the switch highlights that do work when the particular switch is called, they don't turn off when you get the proper setting as requested. My other complaint is that some of the switches or knob selections are so small in VR, even with VR Zoom, that are unreadable/unusable. I did note that the lighting/glare makes some of the radio frequency selections tough to read as well, hopefully Razbam is looking into making some edits/changes/adjustments on this as well. I'd hate for this module to go to waste simply because I can't read/change knobs or settings.
  4. From my experience from naval aviation ordnance, I can say a few things... and unfortunately some things I still can't. Starting from Desert Storm/Southern Watch, the aspect of weapons delivery from a stand-off perspective had been favored. While the GBU/LGB armaments were inherently more expensive, it mitigated the risk of pilots' lives and expensive aircraft directly in harm's way. Keep in mind that the majority of the pieces of the LGB/GBU include the tail fin and bomb body itself of the general purpose bomb. The largest difference was the assembly at the nose of the weapon. During this time frame there was the SLAM missile an upgraded and longer range variant of the Harpoon missile, the Walleye ER with stand off range, the HARM missile, not to mention the JDAM, JSOW and quite a few extended range gliding munitions and their variations. While working in the Weapons department for a Naval Air Station for some F/A-18s, there was a large shift in focus to stand-off range for ground weapons and was continuing to develop these programs for the future. It's reasonable to assume that (in reality) some of these areas were before this shift in thinking, but as more modern scenarios arise, ED will have to address this change in the way of adding the armaments and weapons that were represented during this paradigm shift. By the looks of it to me, they are starting to address this with adding JDAM (hopefully the Harpoon/SLAM ER as well) - and to be honest, I'm excited to see how this pans out.
  5. Brings back memories.... A long time ago, almost a lifetime away... God this bird brings back memories... I was attached to VA-52 (Knightriders) and VA-196 (Main Battery/Milestones) in the 90s as an Aviation Ordnanceman. During my time (5 years for sea duty), I can clearly remember loading this aircraft to the gills quite a few times during Operation Southern Watch. Honestly, aside from the technology barrier, this was one of the U.S. Navy's best medium attack aircraft ever. She's also a bit ugly on the ground, but she was beautiful to watch flying overhead. Heatblur, please do this aircraft next... I know it's not becoming of a veteran to beg, but... well, you get the idea.
  6. I have another suggestion if you will... how about providing a stand alone mission/campaign editor for the designers and aspiring designers? Give the mission builders some extra tools. I understand why it's built in, but providing a stand alone may give you some benefits for collaboration and testing.
  7. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to constantly see Matt Wagner's consistent and constant updates for the F/A-18. The last update about upcoming projects was really great to see as we have an idea of ED's thoughts on the future of DCS World. Better than you could find in most developers now... keep up the great work guys!
  8. Good afternoon folks! I'm in the market to take a step up in hardware, am currently rocking a Warthog HOTAS but am looking for any of the following: Saitek X65F HOTAS Virpil Joystick (Grip and Base) VKB Joystick (Grip and Base) Please let me know if you have any of the above mentioned items available for sale and we can talk offers. I've been trying to get a set from Virpil or VKB but they can't seem to keep inventory in stock for me to at least order. Thanks in advance, your attention is greatly appreciated. Gunner
  9. @Baltic_Dragon, great job friend... to be honest, I've been looking at trying to learn more about mission building to try and help out, if you have any resources to help out, let me know so I can help out. Keep up the great work in any case.
  10. I would so love this, during my days in the Operation Desert Storm and Southern Watch days, I was attached to 2 A-6E Intruder squadrons. Needless to say, this bird could carry a metric ###-ton of ordnance. I should know... I loaded damn near everything that bird could carry. This was also an interesting aircraft because the B/N (Bombardier/Navigator) sat next to the pilot instead of behind. This was also the first all weather attack aircraft in the Navy to utilize Night Vision technology. Heatblur, if you need some ordnance information (non-classified of course) on the bird, let me know, I still have some of that information rattling around in my head, somewhere in there. Oh the stories I could tell you from my time in the Persian Gulf...

    BRU 42

From my experience as an Aviation Ordnanceman in the Navy. The BRU-41 (or MER - Multiple Ejector Rack) has 6 ejector racks and the BRU-42 (or TER - Triple Ejector Rack) has 3 ejector racks. (For the life of me, I can't remember what the overall weight capacity of these were... it's been over 20 years.) In carrier aviation, it was unusual to see the TER used since most of the layouts were a full load of 6 x Mk 82s or 3 x Mk 83s. I've only seen Mk 84s used on the center-line for Hornets, the most Mk 84's I've seen on one aircraft at a time was a A-6E Intruder with 4 at once directly to the bomb racks. I wish a developer would pick up the A-6E for an aircraft, that aircraft was an air to ground beast, it made the SU-25 look like a lightweight in regards to overall payload and range.
  12. Thrustmaster Warthog Joystick & Throttle I've literally tried the top three (CH Products, Saitek & Thrustmaster) and I can honestly say that the Thrustmaster is the best of anything I've tried. CH is great for it's simplicity and durability. I just wish that Virpil and VKB were cheaper, or readily in stock. I'd honestly give those a try since they are a big player in the field. Hell, I'd review them if they wanted.
  13. Unfortunately, after five hours of going through checklists, following YouTube videos and even praying to some sort of winged god, I can't even get them to launch. Hopefully this gets fixed soon, besides the VTOL platform, the Maverick armament is by far one of the best air to ground missiles in the world today. Sad that we can't use it fully in this lethal airship. Guess I'll go back to the Hornet until they can figure this out.
  14. Just purchased this aircraft and looking for an update as well, getting to learn this aircraft has been challenging and would love to get some help on learning it.
