It´s more like something that´s missing, not a bug. I guess it will do better in the raw MiG-21 sub-forum. Also and a bit off-topic, I was wondering if they will do something with the NP-27 emergency pump (no function at the time), the booster ailerons switch and also the simulation of both hydraulic systems. The procedures to use gun with radar are a bit complex, I think they take some time to program.

Even if those were changed, in RL the MiG-15 accelerated and climbed much faster than any Sabre, and if at height the MiG had all the advantages. Also, I thing that the G tolerance is not modeled to well, I mean, the pilot starts to black out to soon without pulling to much. I´m sure MiG-15 pilots were trained to sustain greater amounts of Gs.

Stereotypes, they make the world such a happy place.

The MiG could recover by applying rudder and pushing the stick, that´s for sure. But in the sim. In real life you will go all the way trough inverted spin or heavy oscillations that will bring past lunches to present.:joystick: I said that I was feeling the FM too sensitive and I guess is true.
-
Well, I don´t know which version of L-39C and VS1-BRI seat is that.:shocking: (in the pilots that dismount from L-39) Seat bottom and parachute is supposed to stay on the seat. At least it was like that the last time I used one. Maybe is one really old version.:noexpression:

You don´t need to turn it off because the "APU" is not it. It the DC generator that doubles as engine starter. Once the engine is running, it automatically switch to generating DC.
-
No, it´s not present yet. I was hoping for LNS to add this feature in the coming updates. This is part of the procedure to obtain a gunning solution in the real MiG.
-
Or you learn well the keyboard keys that replicates the switch function.:D
-
In the sim, sure. You can land outside down and still walk out alive. In real life you want to be already on the ground at that speed.
-
OK, fair enough. You don´t need promises, just keep impressing us with your work.:D Is there a way to make possible 2, 3 and 4 tac numbers digit settings?
-
Indeed, normal landing speed is around 325km/h.

This is how the aircraft behave in real life, just compare with the sim: The MiG-21 is prone to enter a spin when airspeed falls below 450km/h and if the pilot is "pulling the stick too hard" (exceeding permissible AoA), and also "applying rudder" during a hard turn or loop maneuver. The aircraft usually enter the spin in the direction the rudder is applied. This is followed by oscillations in the three axis (right spin is more unstable than left spin) and the rotation of the ac around its longitudinal axis. The spin is detected by the start of this oscillations, and by putting the controls in their neutral position the spin can be avoided. If the spin starts whatsoever, what you should do: 1) Keep the throttle were it is. 2) Disconnect the autopilot. 3) Put controls in neutral. The aircraft must stabilize after a turn (3-4 seconds) loosing about 2000-2800m in the process. 4) Continue the dive with AoA not exceeding 15º until IAS=450km/h. 5) Move the throttle to max. while starting to climb with an AoA not exceeding 20º. What you should NOT do: 1) Move the stick forward. (spin degenerates into inverted spin) 2) Move the throttle to max. or AB. (engine can auto-disconnect) 3) Move any control. Inverted spins can be exited as well by using the same procedures, but in this case you will loose about 3000-4000m (4-6 sec), so keep that in mind. If in a hurry and if speed is below 320km/h, you can use the braking chute (it´s not advisable to use it above 11 000m), in which case after deployed and when turning stops, detach the chute and follow the above instructions. Spins are a no issue at supersonic speeds. (auto-rotation is) There´re more instructions and procedures, but I think this is enough.:)

[EVALUATING] ASP for A-2-A gun use incorrect / Radar
OverStratos replied to Shark-Bait's topic in Weapons
I´m not asking for anything, relax man.:) I just read the thread and it gave me the impression that there where doubts about how it is in real life. Be sure that I´m going to test the new features with manual in hand to see how far they went. -
Rudel, a thing I forgot to ask. This changes will come in the next update of the Open Beta, or you´re going to wait til the release version?
-
Wow, that´s a nice one! I have several real sticks but I´m too lazy to mod some of them so I went for the easy road and bought a Rhino. About the FM behavior I think that it should not depart that easy and also the recovery should not be too hard. If someone has the real life flight manual, find the section about spins and stalls, it´s explained very well there. (I have had the same experience as Black Lion213 though, I can enter and exit stalls and spins without problem, but I guess it´s true that it´s a bit oversensitive) If I found some time tomorrow I will post something about it.

[EVALUATING] ASP for A-2-A gun use incorrect / Radar
OverStratos replied to Shark-Bait's topic in Weapons
Ok, I have read these thread and to be clear. In real life the MiG-21Bis can use radar ranging to hit an air target with cannons, but only if that target is maneuvering up to 3Gs, albeit the procedure is a bit complex. When the target is maneuvering harder than that then the fixed piper gyro setting (300m) is used. At least series A and K have this feature. Another thing is how LNS want to simulate this, or what are the possibilities to make it. I´m for all realism, but I guess some commitments must be made. -
I forgot that one. You can add him too as well. mmm... :music_whistling:

Thanks, that´s good to know. A question Wags. Any possibility for a DCS MiG-29 in the future?:D
-
Guys, quit comparing the 21 and 23 as if they where the same thing. Apart from a few instruments, they are completely different beasts. It´s like comparing a F-104 or F-8 with a Phantom. On topic, I think we can mostly agree on 4 ac: Tornado, Viggen, Zero and F-5.:D
-
That is good to know. I´m going to wait until a definite (or at least one that last longer) version arrive as re-paints are a little difficult to make and I don´t want to change everything if the model change. :)
-
I dont know, but do somebody speculate that it could be the Tornado? Specially the IDS/ECR... Variable geometry, reverse thrust, ground radar?

L-39C takes itself off during landing
OverStratos replied to Johnny Dioxin's topic in DCS: L-39 Albatros
Almost every aircraft manual instructs to retract flaps after gears have touched the ground. The purpose is to increase friction and make the brakes more effective.:) 180km/h + 18 (5m/s) = 198-200km/h so for now I think that if you just move the elevators an inch up the aircraft will levitate. When you feel the ground, throttle in min. and flaps up, report back and tell what happened. -
I really enjoy this uncertainty.:D To be honest I will buy anything be WWII or modern if it´s well made (not an helicopter tho), so no problem for me if they delay the announcement. I´m almost sure that Zero is one of them. In my experience? Many things have influence, time, economic status, family, access to technical data, but most important: If you are good doing what you do and you have fun, the output increases exponentially. IMPORTANT EDIT: Be sure to get an ambulance to control that heart!

I have made 3 new Cuban skins also. Others of several countries are in progress. Let´s wait for the time when mods can be applied to DCS 1.5 to upload them.

Realmente no es así, es que no siempre hay tiempo. A mi me gustó bastante tambien, sobre todo la parte final donde ponen el himno y se oyen las voces de fondo.:D Very well done!
