  1. I'm normally one of the quiet majority but felt compelled to leave you a thanks. I'm a bit of a veteran when it comes to the A10C returning after a DCS hiatus and just wanted to say fantastic job on the campaign mate. I had a blast, was well worth getting the sticks out the cupboard for. Really enjoy your style of mission making. Your hard work is very much appreciated. I remember commenting on the first couple missions you released a long time ago and was pleased to see how it turned out in the end. Off to buy the f18 campaign with confidence. congrats, keep em coming
  2. Hello, I've re-uploaed using a different file sharing service and edited the link in my post. Let me know if it works now! Cheers :pilotfly:
  3. Hello folks, I decided I would try to put together a mini-campaign for the updated A-10C-2 and the Nevada map. Here is the first mission. Its a "navigation" mission but it should present some unique challenges and a satisfying workload. Would really appreciate some feedback to help me going forward. Could you do it? was it hard? easy? Did the real voice-overs add much to your enjoyment/immersion? Are they worth continuing with? Any bugs or gripes, comments or suggestions? Please feel free to criticize... I am fully aware the "voice actor" :music_whistling:... has left some room for improvement. These missions will be designed to suit DCS A-10C veterans that are returning to the Hog after a long lay-off (like myself) or anyone that has taken the time to really learn and get to grips with the Hog and wants to test or refresh their skills in the aircraft. The missions will try to combine challenge type gameplay tied together by a completely fictional story, believable only if you squint your eyes really hard like you do when you watch Top Gun. Have fun and please remember to leave feedback so I can improve the next ones! :) DOWNLOAD LINK: http://www.mediafire.com/file/5o7xhk63maonvy8/PROVG_1.miz/file NEVADA PROVING GROUNDS Situation: Extended conflicts over the past decades, particularly in the Middle East, have put the USAF budget under tremendous strain. In an effort to continue the funding of 5th and 6th generation advanced fighter aircraft projects, the tough decision has been made to downsize the United States' A-10C inventory. The U.S has therefore offered it's NATO partners the opportunity to purchase a number of the legendary Close Air Support (CAS) platforms from its fleet. There has been a signal of interest from “across the pond” in Great Britain. To this end, a detachment of four experienced RAF pilots were sent across the Atlantic and were enrolled in a 6-month type conversion program designed to take them from zero to hero in the Hog. Having recently completed the training program, they now find themselves stationed at Nellis Airforce Base, Nevada. They are to take part in a week-long tactical test and evaluation period (TTEP). Each mission will be designed to test a different aspect of the A-10C's suitability and performance as a CAS platform with the RAF. You will take the role of one of the lucky four. TTEP sorties will be under close control of RAF C&C, call-sign Magic. PROVING GROUNDS HOP 1: Adv Navigation It's Nellis, but probably not like you've seen it before. Sin city is socked in with heavy rain and fog, with the cloud base barely at minimums. Most flights will remain grounded until the weather clears, however our detachment will be making full use of the opportunity to evaluate the Hog's all-weather capability. Above the cloud layer, visibility is good and the air is stable, so we'll also make use of the Mount Charleston Low Level Route to test performance of the Hog in high mountainous regions. The sortie will be divided into three stages that must be completed in full to achieve a pass. See breifing slides and notes below for details. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- BREIFING NOTES Stage A: TACAN navigation to the Low Level Route. -Three TACAN navigation points (NAV 1-3) must be flown in order as instructed by Magic. -You must arrive at each point within 200ft of assigned altitude. -You must fly within the cloud layer until you reach NAV 2. If you break through the cloud layer (4700ft MSL) before this point you will bust the ride. -You will be flying low. Do not fly too far off course or you may become a floor morte statistic. -Be particularly aware of the ridge-line approximately a mile and a half to the West of NAV2. When cleared to break the cloud layer, do so promptly and on a safe course, as instructed by Magic. Stage B: Mount Charleston Low Level Route -Once you pass NAV3 you will be cleared to GATE ECHO (Steerpoint 1 in your CDU). Arrive at the assigned altitude (+- 200ft). -Descend to 500ft AGL or below when passing ROUTE START and follow pre-planned steer points until ROUTE END. -Once you pass ROUTE END you will be cleared to checkout at GATE FOXTROT. Arrive at the assigned altitude (+-200ft). -Steerpoints along the route have no altitude requirement, however at any point along the route if your altitude exceeds 1000ft AGL, you will fail the ride. -This route includes 2 notable ridge crosses, so maintain high energy state and execute proper ridge crossing technique to ensure you do not balloon or run out of knots over the top. Stage C: TACAN navigation to Nellis and Instrument Landing -Fly the return route (NAV 4-5) to Nellis as instructed by Magic. -Expect an ILS approach, runway 21L. -Arrive at NAV points at assigned altitude (+-200ft). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- FLIGHT SCHEDULE You will each be flying as singletons today. Your callsign is HAWG 1-1. The other hog pilots will be TUSK, BOAR, and PIG flights. Step time: 17:05:00 LT Taxi time 17:12:00LT (You will be the second Hog to taxi. Don't miss your assigned slot!) The other flights will be travelling along similar but not identical routes. Flight push times will be staggered to ensure deconfliction. Use your sensors and data-link to monitor this separation and adjust speed accordingly to maintain appropriate spacing throughout the flight (approx 10nm). Flights will fly stage A and C with a speed of 270kts GS. Stage B will be mil power for the duration of the low level route. You will be second in a line of 4 A-10s flying the route. You will have a light fuel load today so expect low approach speeds. Be accurate with speed and AOA so that you land after TUSK. Route details on breifing slides. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- COMMS: Nellis ATC : 132.550 AM ILS : 21L 109.10Mhz MAGIC : 251 UHF Other flights : 251 UHF ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAV AIDS: Nellis TCN : LSV (12X) McCarran Intl TCN : LAS (116X) Boulder City TCN : BLD (114X) GATE ECHO: Steerpoint 1 (CDU) GATE FOXTROT : Steerpoint 17 (CDU) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEATHER Heavy rain, Overcast. Visibility good above cloud layer (4700ft) ProvingGroundsMSN1.pdf
  4. Fantastic effort ChillNG. Looks like you're going to make a great campaign. I've spent a long time away from the hog... Your missions tempted me back, and I don't regret it! As others said it looks like you're on course to be on par with other top tier hog campaigns like Ranger and BD's. You are doing a good job of designing missions that unfold the story/narrative and are good fun and satisfying to play. Well done ! You're on the right track for sure. Stay energized and keep on truckin'! I know how much work goes into this. Well Job.
  5. Yup, I've seen this before so I test it nearly every flight. When it works it seems to work in whatever order you choose and when its broke its broke regardless of order also. :( thanks for the idea though!
  6. I have noticed that BALT and HSEL seem to be behaving very strange for me half the time. My understanding is that normally BALT should hold heading and altitude if activated with less than 5deg bank and should hold bank angle and altitude if there is more than 5 deg of bank angle. HSEL mode can be activated at the same time as BALT to hold/turn to a selected heading. I make sure that I am activating the autopilot modes with zero stick input (verified in axis commands options section) and I always disengage the autopilot using the nosewheel steer disengage/g-limit override button, also with zero stick input. Half the time, this works as intended. However about half the time I get very strange behaviour: - When flying in trimmed level flight and BALT is activated, the aircraft slowly departs into a right or left hand turn. The autopilot maintains altitude but the bank angle slowly and steadily increases until the bank limit causes the autopilot to disengage altogether. - When HSEL is activated, nothing happens. The aircraft wont turn to a heading or hold a heading. If BALT is already active and you try to manually turn towards the HSEL heading, sometimes its as though the autopilot suddenly "wakes up" and initiates a turn towards the selected heading, but does not roll out... just keeps turning and maintaining altitude. These symptoms seemed to be linked and I can't understand what cause is. Sometimes the autopilot system isn't working for the first half of a mission and randomly starts working half way through and vice versa. Sometimes it goes between working and not working several times during a mission. It doesn't appear to need user input to stop or start working..it just... happens.. I've noticed in certain missions/campaigns are much more prone to this happening, my inkling is that asymmetrical loadouts/states requiring aileron trim to fly straight and level are a factor. Anyone else having these issues?
  7. Appreciate your feedback dugite :). I'm motivated to get to making more if people are having fun so I'm glad to hear it. If anyone has a mission track handy for pre-emptive strike I'd be keen to see it to see how it played out and how I can improve next time :)
  8. I've been looking for any excuse to fly the shiny new hornet so thought I'd get my finger out and give this mission creation a bash. My first attempt at putting together a small mission in the editor. No fancy scripting or anything yet.. still to learn all that. No voice overs, just messages. Maybe next time! Feedback encouraged! :smartass::joystick: This is a SP mission for the Hornet on the Persian Gulf map. Difficulty varies depending on the results of AI vs AI engagements. The mission takes about an hour. Do not change load out as this will effect mission results. This is a trigger based mission so it may break if you do not fly it as intended. SEE BRIEFING IMAGES FOR MORE DETAILS PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE SITUATION: Political tensions have been rising between the Red Coalition and the Blue Coalition in the Persian Gulf. Over the past few weeks, U.S F-15C Eagles stationed in the region have carried out Combat Air Patrol duties in support of our allies, and E-3 AWACS have been flying day and night to monitor Red Coalition activity. With military confrontation looking more likely day by day, a naval task force, led by the Nimitz Class J. Stennis, has been diverted to the Persian Gulf, and is steaming at flank speed to the AO. In response to this projection of power, the Red Coalition have been flying regular MiG-29, MiG-23, and MiG-21 patrols over Red Airspace. Last week, a team of Special Forces, code name BLACKJACK, were inserted by sea near the heavily defended city of Bandar Abbas to gather intel on Red Coalition forces. We've had word from Blackjack that the Iranians received a shipment of Russian SA-10 launchers under the cover of darkness, via the nearby port. BLACKJACK was able to track the launchers to a small military base in a town on the eastern outskirts of Bandar Abbas. Intel suggests the launchers are undergoing a conversion programme to allow them to launch chemically armed, short range ballistic missiles, capable of threatening the Blue Coalition peninsula. The U.S president deems this risk to innocent lives unacceptable and has sanctioned a pre-emptive strike to destroy or disable these launchers before they can be used against us or our allies. F/A-18Cs aboard the Stennis will spearhead the strike. BLUE TASK (Being in the right place at the right time is critical to your success. Follow your flight plan as briefed.) The USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) has just arrived in the gulf. Command of this mission, callsign ARCHANGEL, will be stationed aboard J. Stennis. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TARGET: 3 x SA-10 Launchers in military base @WP5 [To be engaged in 1 pass using 4 x Mk82] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THREATS: In addition to enemy CAP and quick reaction intercept capabilities, intel from BLACKJACK and satellite imagery shows a network of air defences in the AO including AAA, MANPADs, and SA-3 systems. Likelihood of mobile SAM units is also high. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BLACKJACK: BLACKJACK has eyes on the target site and is currently concealed in the town directly west of the enemy base (Ref Slide 5). They have been ordered to deploy a white smoke marker on the roof of a tall building within the town at 12:55:00Z. This should help you locate the enemy base. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TASKING: The strike package will be made up of three seperate flights as follows: COLT 1 - 2 x F-15C Fighter Sweep UZI 1 - 2 x FA-18C SEAD SPRINGFIELD 1 - 2 x FA-18C Strike (Your flight) COLT 1 will depart Al Minhad AB and clear the AO of any MiG CAP flights present, then move to provide top cover whilst the attack is carried out. UZI 1 and SPRINGFIELD 1 will depart from J.Stennis and orbit WP1 before arriving at scheduled push time at WP2. UZI 1 and SPRINGFIELD 1 will advance North towards the AO with 2 minute interval (approx 12nm) of seperation. On approach to target area, UZI 1 will suppress enemy SA-3 systems using HARMs and RTB. SPRINGFIELD 1 will then ingress fast and low, perform a pop-up attack and release all MK82's on the target site in a single pass. PUSH of Sweep flight will be declared by COLT 1-1, code NEPTUNE PUSH of SEAD flight will be declared by UZI 1-1, code PLUTO PUSH of Strike flight will be declared by SPRINGFIELD 1-1, code JUPITER ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUPPORT: TEXACO KC-130 TANKER with 2x F-15C escort available for refuel: TACAN 1X / 135MHZ AM (channel 3) WIZARD E-3 AWACS available on 251MHZ AM (channel 1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RADIO/TACAN FREQUENCIES: Strike Common : 251MHZ AM (Channel 1) J.Stennis : 127.5 MHZ AM (Channel 2) / TACAN 55X Texaco refuel : 135 MHZ AM (Channel 3) / TACAN 1X WIZARD AWACS : 251MHZ AM (Channel 1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FLIGHTPLAN: [TABLE]WP1 ORBIT 20,000ft MSL WP2 PUSH 20,000ft MSL TOT 12:49:00z (Maintain 20,000ft/390kts en-route WP3 and begin decent 5-7nm from WP3. Get in, and then Get out. If intercepted, recommend you draw the enemy to our Eagles or take the fight well away from SAM threats. If you are unable to make your assigned PUSH time, catch up to 10-15nm trail off UZI-1 en-route WP3 Pre-Emptive Strike.miz
  9. I have also just finished the campaign... I believe that was the most fun I have ever had playing a single player flight sim campaign!!! Outstanding work Ranger79. Your hard work is very much appreciated. Love your style. Can't wait to see what you do next.
  10. Congrats BD! I'll certainly be supporting with a purchase ;) Played through TEW a couple times, looking forward to seeing what you've done with it :D :D

    Chaff bug

Hi Java :D This is interesting.. my understanding was that it was necessary to activate the ASO pod before dispensing countermeasures by using these switches as described on page 148 of the manual: "The ASO container needs to be powered up: since the ASO is mounted in the SPRD mounts, make sure you turned on SPRD power and drop switches (RH50 and RH51). " After further testing on my set-up, it would appear that it makes no difference whether these switches are activated or not, and it also makes no difference if you change the default setting from 32 chaff/32 flare. Sometimes the big red panic button just works, and sometimes it doesn't. Great, thanks

    Chaff bug

That's quite alright Java, sometimes asking the simple questions can provide a simple solution. I'm trying to deploy chaff/flare by turning on SPRD power and drop switches (RH50 and RH51), and holding the SPRD drop button (LH60) after uncovering the red safety cap. No chaff/flare deployment occurs, and there is no countermeasures launch sound effect. This issue only occurs in 1.5 - it operated as normal in 1.2.16.

    Chaff bug

For me the ASO pod will not dispense at all even using the default 32/32. ;)
  14. Hi, I wanted to provide an update on this thread to confirm that the missing ASO-2 texture issue has been resolved, however the pod still does not operate at all, thereby leaving the MiG21 without viable countermeasures. I know that LN are having quite a lot of issues with the MiG21 module and are no doubt busy still trying to provide a fix for 2.0... If possible, it would be great to hear that this issue will be looked at by the devs when possible. Until such time, it's with much regret that the defenseless '21 remains grounded. Look forward to flying her again one day! Cheers GauSki
  15. Mhmm yes I'm aware missing texture has been reported in a few places. This thread is primarily about the ASO not FUNCTIONING as intended, not just a missing paintjob. Thx! GAUski
