  1. Indeed, the Rb 04 was developed for the A 32 Lansen, and far from all Lansens were radar equipped. Usually only the flight lead would use radar for finding targets and get ranging information, the rest would just follow lead, point and release.
  2. According to http://kkrva.se/u-137-intrang-ska-framsta-som-oavsiktligt/ the kashin was no 462 and the kildin no 351, the tug Loksa was a project 733S. The Krivak was identified by division commander Jan Andersson flying a SF37. According to Den dolda alliansen by Mikael Holmström,the Kashin is indeed the 446, and on the 28th oct at 2100 the rescue force consisted of 9 ships. By the 29th it had grown to 14 ships, with "hundreds" of naval infantrymen. By 0300 on the 30th, they would have been ready to rescue the stranded sub unless intel about the growing swedish forces had stopped it.
  3. As said, fleet composition is a -huge- unknown. Different reliable sources who claimed to have been there give little or varying info, I suppose the situation on the swedish side were a bit of a mess. Nanuchka II would be exports, Is or IIIs would be the deal, sadly I believe both were in sevice in the baltic fleet at the moment. You would need to fill out your fleet with at least one tugboat. No idea if infantry were aboard the Kashin or if they had dedicated landing craft.
  4. The rescue force isn't exactly well researched in open sources that Ive found under my years of looking into it. There were some 10 ships involved, one kashin, one kildin/kotlin (unclear), some sources mention a krivak, two nanuchkas and a riga. Naval infantry was loaded and ready. A tugboat tried to get to the s-363 before swedish forces had time to react, but was intercepted by the HMS Neptunus or a torpedo boat depending on sources.
  5. Regarding old school flying, you should also disable the TERNAV if possible, since this came with the AJS upgrade. There is a bigger need to set fix points manually to avoid those navigation errors to build up.
  6. The pylon counter-measures were only mounted on the JA 37 fighter variant. Only pods for us ground pounders.
  7. One vote for the Tactical Instructions for Strike units. The 1982 ed would probably be better if possible as it would be regarding the Viggen rather than Lansen. Thanks for your great work!
  8. Extra points for batmobile exhaust!
  9. Another fun anecdote regarding the avioics is that apparently when the inertial navigation system in the JA 37 was upgraded from the older "manual" system to a computerized system from the US, they found it troublesome with integration and simply let the computer simulate the old system and not really doing anything. Sorry for link in swedish, but notes from a fairly interesting seminar on the man/machine interface on the (primaily fighter) viggen. 10. We should also see the Rb-75T maverick, some 80 kilos heavier warhead. Should be a boon for taking out any landingships making it to the archipelago with its less than optimal radar conditions, or for taking out bridges and commandposts.
  11. Happy to hear about the BK-90, while I would have bought the Viggen regardless, I believe it gives the aircraft one more unique sellingpoint. (Anti-shipping and being totally awesome being the other two)
  12. I was writing about historical basing, not estimated map size. If the gotland option is true I hope for mainland coasts from both sides. Where gotland is the territory being fought over. Taking of from gotland to fly ground attack over gotland would feel a bit claustrophobic I believe. If only one mainland coast I would like latvia/estonia since I would hate redfor airstarts. The polish option is an enticing one!
  13. The bases for the E1 attack wing was placed in western sweden for the added protection. Since the existence of the E1 prohibited attacks over the sea, and the shorter legs were worth it. Ofscourse forward basing is far from impossible, just take your asm-missiles with you in travel mode and let the c-130 bring the reloads. For the map I hope for swedish east coast since basing on Gotland feels fairly limited to peace time interceptions for 'the fish' and otherwise better as the battleground rather than the bases. Costs and other factors however might make it unfeasible.
  14. The question is if the rumours are based on something other than it would seem logical as a theatre of operations for AJS-37 vs MiG-21, and the relative ease of constructing such a map? I hope for more than just Gotland if such a map is made, with at least a bit of coast of Sweden and Estonia to use for basing. Since the baltic really isn't carrier-friendly unlike Iwo Jima. I for one wouldn't really want air-spawns and having two sides use airfields on the island won't make much sense. The cost and difficulty to create such a map would however increase by a not insignificant amount I would suspect. It will be interesting to see their choice.
  15. There's a bunch of missions I hope to see: Cold war style: -"The Professor" - Enemy ELINT-vessels lie close to Swedish waters, give them a scare with an overfly. (could also be used as a bomb the living crap out of fishingboat, otherwise a simple training/introduction mission for a cold war feel) -"The Fish": this was the codename for the intercept ready aircraft. Start east over the Baltic to identify unknown aircraft and drive them away from Swedish airspace if hostile. Would really like a RNG to determine hostility of aircraft (civilian, soviet but wields after forming up and maby using radio, or hostile) -"Recon overseas" - Go east on a recon mission, evade interceptors and complete mission. Prohibitive ROE. Cold war gone hot style: -"Take the Cake": The cake was the name given to the invasion fleet. The object would be to take out the troop transports, preferably with focus on those who could be used for amphibious landings. Killing a cruiser is cool, but won't really help win the war. Use that quick turn-around time to deal a significant blow to the enemy. -"Hunting Hinds": Well, we've got gun pods and those Hinds taking of from that container ship look like trouble for the groundforces on Gotland. -"Bomb the Beachhead": With the landings underway, time to use the BK90 clusters on the packed invasion force. -"DEAD on": Gotland has fallen, SA-6 batteries hold the air around the island. Go in low and take out the enemy SAMs. -"Something something Rb05": A high value target needs to be destroyed, preferably via Rb05 strike. Commandposts or docked ships would be good targets. Tons of ideas, but no know how. But really a dynamic campaign would be awesome. (Scenarios as well)
