  1. Same here. From low to ultra I really do not see much difference. I wasn't sure if is was just an HMD issue(using odyssey plus)but interesting to hear someone else is having the same issue. And I too am get the vibrating clouds. And it's really bad outside the cockpit. I am glad that is a known bug already.
  2. FAN-TAS-STIC!! That was fun Cubanace! Looks great in VR too. Sure, still needs some work, but overall great job!! And the Main menu wallpaper...OUTSTANDING...my new favorite wallpaper ;)
  3. As I told someone in another post, to anyone who is thinking about purchasing realteus pad, I would recommend strongly against doing so. I ordered mine back on January 5th and never received anything. At the beginning of May, I requested a refund. I have basically been given the run around since then. Multiple times they said I was going to get my refund the "next day" or "soon". I have not received a dime back from them since. Therefore, I filed claims and complaints with the EU small claims and ecomrce.gov since I believe Tomas Jandecka (the owner)has no plans on delivering the products or refunding anyone.
  4. Hello Glyn, To you or anyone who is thinking about purchasing this, I would recommend strongly against not doing so. I ordered mine back on January 5th and never received anything. 5. Has anyone got this to work? The last thing Jester says is OK ready to start up after he tells me to arm my seat then nothing. Not sure what I am doing wrong here.:book: UPDATE: Nevermind. I figured it out. I had it set up to do just "Startup" in Voice attack instead of "Assisted startup".
  6. Yeah, it boggles my mind why the Developers do this. I think they did an amazing job overall, but with the 14 and the 18 I just scratch my head. I can't believe the real life 14 and 18 pilots that helped test them didn't say anything. I never saw 18 's (or the few 14 cockpits I sat in) look as bad as this. I don't think they realize Corrosion control in the Navy is a huge deal and cockpits on maintained birds where never this UNSAT. The only birds I saw this bad were mothed balled birds or de-comished ones or ones in RAG/training squadrons.
  7. I always update by going to Windows Start then the Apps(or Programs if you are still on Win 7) Then go to the yellow Eagle Dynamics Folder and look for "Updater DCS World Openbeta". Run that and it should update. The "Updater DCS World Openbeta" is completely different from the "DCS_updater.exe" so don't confuse those two. And that's how I downloaded the 14 today.
  8. You may also want to make sure all your other settings are up to at least 1.0 (or 100% in steam)in Pixel density or "resolution" for steam. My Pixel Density/resolution settings are: 1. DCS(in game): 1.5 In Steam VR settings: Under Video 2. Aplication resolution: 200% Under Applications (You will see a dropdown) 3. Steam VR: 100% 4. Steam VR Home: 100% 5. Windows Mixed Reality: 100% 6. DCS: 150% (you can only see this though when DCS is running) Also, the Forced IPD in my DCS is unchecked. It caused nothing but problems for me. And as Svsmokey said, PD (pixel density) and IPD (inter-pupillary distance) are two seperate things. The only thing I mess with for the IPD is the little wheel on my headset. Cheers!
  9. Hi Catseye, Go to your Windows Mixed Reality VR driver folder in Steam and then to the Settings folder (("Whatever drive you have steam on":\Steam\steamapps\common\MixedRealityVRDriver\resources\settings) Open up the default.vrsettings file and make sure it shows 2.0 in "driver_Holographic"(it's the first item). Most the time it shows 1.0 and you will have a horrible image. Like this: "driver_Holographic" : { // Increase back buffer size so that larger superscale values do not get a resolution reduction "renderTargetScale" : 2.0 Also, you might want to check your Video Application resolution in the Steam VR settings: 1. Click on the little drop down in the steam VR window 2. Click on settings 3. Then click on Video and check the resolution.
  10. Wholeheartedly agree! Don't get me wrong. I love US aircraft (ex USN 18 mech), but we have enough US AC out or coming out. We really need more High Fidelity UK/FRench/ Joint European/Russian AC. etc! My number one choice would be the Jaguar too! Love that aircraft! (But really I will take anything!):D High intakes, Navy grade undercarriage. That thing is made for serious off-roading..haha. What a beautiful brute!
  11. Yeah! The A4 and the F5 are two solid little AC too from a more refined age ;) And great to learn for the step up to high fidelity AC. Also, you may want to look at the Yak and Christain. I know they are not combat AC but they are easy to learn, no MFDs, DDIs etc, and not too pricey either. Another thing I find helpful is Voice Attack. You can free up cockpit clicks, physical keyboard clicks, HOTAS clicks and comms etc., with voice commands. It's a huge help to me. It's payware but I think it's only 10 bucks and very much worth it in my opinion.
  12. Hi Imacken! Thanks for the info! For the Vive what setting is used to turn MS off and on? Or what procedure is required to get MS to work on the Vive? Thanks!
  13. Oh ya, the OTHER 18's. I keep forgetting about those guys. :P Yeah, wouldn't know much about foreign Airforces SOP. :joystick: And definitely not in the USN, but maybe the jarheads, they use'em on the shore more.
  14. Yeah, maybe in game this is something you do. However, that would not be real-world procedures ( though things have may have changed since I was in). 18's only have ready status on the boat like the ready 5's and such. They just sit back there on the tail ready to go as far as walkarounds and flight checks. They have no power on them. They don't need coms. The Air boss is pretty loud and everyone will know if there is an alert. And all the flight deck crew running around him telling him to get ready will be pretty obvious too ;) But like I said maybe all that has changed since I was in
  15. If there is one I don't ever recall it. I NEVER used ground power for a startup, and I never saw anyone else do that either(pilots or maintenance people). The only ones who I saw use those switches (and always in conjunction with a power cart) were maintenance people Like AE's(electricians) or AT's(Avionics and radars) and that was only if someone turn quald or a pilot wasn't available I am not sure why you want to use ground power to do a startup. There is no reason to.
  16. No, I wish that were the case though..haha :) In steam/WMR it's asynchronous reprojection and it's on and doesn't have any effect on DCS. Like I said there is no issue with other VR apps, just DCS. I even tried a combination of asynchronous reprojection and interleaved reprojection still no effect on DCS.
  17. This is my personal experience. I can't speak for others. So In DCS i get a weird blurriness or ghosting issuing. It's not when I move my head though (so I don't think it's a tracking issue) but happens when I roll or pitch the plane. It's not terrible but a slight annoyance. However, it's just DCS it does this in. I play IL2 and Warthunder in VR and I don't have that issue at all. This happened in the old Odyssey as wll as the new one As for comfort, I would say it's about the same as the RIFT(maybe a little better). I had the Rift and the first Samsung Odyssey and the first Odyssey was very comfortable. I never thought the rift was very comfortable. The new Odyssey plus has taken a little time to get used to after using the older Odyssey(it was stupid comfortable :D ) Ther is different material on the new one and to me, it's was not quite as soft as the old one. It took time to break it in. It's pretty comfortable to me now. I have had it since the end of November. But like I said, others may have a different experience. Hope that helps. :)
  18. Yep! I was an AD(Final Checker/TS and Turn quald) and I was in the cockpit a lot, not only turning them up for my shop, power plants, but the other ones too, Airframers and AE's(electricians) mostly. ANYWAY, it was just SO much easier to run up an engine real quick to do maintenance than to go find a power cart. And I don't think we ever had a huffer in the squadron.:D Also, if you guys are wanting to simulate RL, turning on power just using battery was a big no NO. You could get your ass chewed out pretty quick if you wore down the batteries and they were known for doing that.
  19. Ya, definitely not 18 specific. 18's APU is strictly for starting the engines. None of that other stuff. And "APU" is a fairly generic term for a lot of different systems.
  20. You didn't use the APU ever to 'just to turn on the systems". If you needed power without running the PP's(powerplants or engines) you used a power cart.
  21. Ya, that sounds odd. Everything I have read or watched about the pimax 5k has been very positive. I haven't come across any negative reviews.
  22. Yes, I have the Odyssey plus also and the resolution is that good.
  23. Even if we had a little airfield building tool like x- plane does and we could make them ourselves, that would be fine by me! You can see the base, the town, and the ranges are all on the map (B16 through B20). I even set up the ranges on a mission map I created with target markers and silhouettes. heck, I can even see where I live on the map but its the very western edge :) Maybe it has changed, but when I was in we didn't do a whole lot at Nellis. I think they would send a couple guys there once a year. Most Navy training was done out of Fallon, Yuma and Rosey Roads (when it was open).
  24. DUDE!..everyone knows JOE has WAY more access to classified info than the rest of us... lasers'n stuff??!! just sayin..:spam_laser:
  25. Ya, Harlikwins build above is a good build for non-VR. And I would(my opinion)always say an SSD is a requirement. Old mechanicals are just WAY to slow for DCS, especially now that we are into 2.5+. Also, I am not too knowledgeable on Radeon cards, but I think your cards equivalent to an NVIDIA card is a GTX 660 and that would be WAY underpowered for DCS. :)
