  1. Edit: Thanks for the responses guys!
  2. To follow up on Squirrel’s post: Once you put in the number on UFC, and press ENT, you can go to the original UFC A/P controls and press HSEL and the aircraft should turn to the selected heading. So here’s an example, assuming BALT (baro alt hold) also engaged for perfect straight and level flight using specific heading value placed in UFC (instead of slewing the bug only) So in order: -Press and hold HDG bug switch left or right until HSEL appears on UFC -Enter desired heading value in scratchpad -Press ENT on keypad -Press UFC A/P -Select Heading Mode (:HSEL)
  3. Sorry if this post is a bit “off the wall” with such hot topics like HARM and ATFLIR around. Im just the learning type and DCS is such a great study sim... I will refer to them as ETs. I was looking at the diagram of the fuel system and the picture i was using didnt show the connection to the ETs. Nor have i read any SOPs for the use of ETs on the ground/inflight... Ground Ops: Do the engines start on internal fuel? Are they supposed to? Is the fuel source controlled by AMAD automatically with weight on wheels with the ET switches in NORM? Is it SOP to takeoff using internal fuel? Is it automatically done with flaps half or thrust lever setting to a certain TLA? (which it is definitely monitoring bc it checks for flaps when you push the power up). Air to Air refueling: If you were to refuel in the air with external tanks attached (on wing and/or centerline), will the fuel backfill the tanks? Or are you limited to internal fuel once the exterior tanks run dry? ORIDE: What is the function of OveRIDE setting on the ET switch panel? (between fuel probe and fuel dump). Is it used to fill internal tanks from that source if the other is set to off? Basically why is it different from NORM? Strategy for max endurance/target area loitering: If A2A refueling does not backfill the external tanks, my guess would be to takeoff and fly initially on internal fuel only (ETs set to off). I dont know if there are any Zero Fuel Weight issues in the FA18? You then should hook up with the tanker to top off internal fuel and then set ET switches to NORM to begin using them once your aircraft is completely full.... Thank you guys for your time and consideration if you made it this far!!!
  4. So to clarify for anyone that may be confised about this... The azimuth markings on the top/bottom of the display (side to side from the aircarft’s nose) do not change with a change in sweep scale. Unlike the range scale, which does change based on which total range you have set. The marks are always 30/60 degrees whether you are doing a max/min sweep side to side. The reason one would narrow the sweep is to get a faster return or more updated image/target information if the radar has less moving to do left and right.
  5. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oKQeOKE7Uj0 As tempting as it is to use period appropriate tunes, I prefer something like this! All Hail!
  6. i also am new to the 109 and liking it very much. I have a few Q's on the DCS version: 1) It says you can use the MW50 tank to store regular fuel. Is it possible? 2) When carrying the centerline loads, you must take most of the fuel out. When carrying the fuel tank, you only see a small fuel gain. Also, am I doing something wrong when I say I can even load the big bomb on because its always overweight? 3) Does the primer not show on the fuel pressure anymore? When I follow the procedure, the pressure does not move on the gauge. (I wonder if this was something they put in and changed later for realism?) Thanks in advance for any responses :)
  7. looking at the fuel counter, I would ask why they read "gauge" and "remain"? As I understand it, the left is for internal fuel and the "DETOT" is totalizer, indicating total fuel including external wing and fuselage tanks. May I recommend they get labeled "Internal" & "Total" or something along those lines? Otherwise, this looks promising!

    Bullseye

or you can set a wp (1 or some number in the middle of your flight plan) on Bullseye and then cycle to it to tell where you are in relation
  9. Did anyone else notice that the line up card has you as Ford-4 and in game you are Ford-3? Confused me on the first mission when the call for Ford 3 to RTB came thru...

I have looked everywhere and cannot find an answer: I launched DCS 2.0 when I got home today and it did not do a "desktop" update when I launched. Yet, in the main menu i had the news feed tell me Red Flag was available. So I went to the mission editor to see if the new Mirage liveries were there....nope. Launched a ramp start mission i made and tried to change the altimeter and manipulate other "fixes" from the change log on page one of this thread and I am sure that the update did not happen for me. Any thoughts? ***EDIT*** it seems to have randomly fixed itself and is now auto updating...

Am I missing something? Is the latest update (1/1/16) already up or is this a list the team is currently working on? I have not had DCS update for a while now and still have the things happening on the list. thanks in advance
  13. Great news! thank you for the update! happy new year!
  14. i confirm what Zeus says, it happens after you do a signal lights test
  15. Thanks for the responses everyone. Hopefully the dev team fixes this for future releases.
  16. Hey all, Im new to the Mig and was trying to map the controls and some of them struck me as odd. Some controls, such as the flap controls are not able to be mapped. The column for my controls is light colored and the options to add on the bottom left are grey'd out. Any thoughts?
