  1. I don't have the Channel map but I get flickering on Normandy (usually above water) and on Supercarrier when taxiing. RTX 2060. I was told by others that flickering in general is a known bug currently, but don't quote me on that.
  2. Like long night rides? This is the video for you. This is the first short "film" I've ever made, as well as the first gameplay footage I ever did something serious with. Be sure to watch in a dark room and on the highest quality available (otherwise the plethora of dark parts of the video will be hard to see or look horribly pixelated). See if you can find all the continuity errors
  3. The area we already get offers a plethora of real-world conflict situations already, more than any other map to date, including the Caucasus. The Gulf map is ok for fictional major war scenarios involving NATO and GCC vs. Iran / Russia, but Syria offers that + Lebanese Civil war, Six Day War, War of Attrition, Yom Kippur War, Israel - Hezbollah War and Syrian Civil war (the last one itself offering a plethora of scenarios for both conventional and asymmetric warfare). What I especially like about the Syria map's potential is the near-countless real-world counter-insurgency ops one can recreate (especially good for helicopters!), from the Hama uprising in Syria and Nahr al-Bared in Lebanon to SCW-related insurgencies like various anti-rebel / ISIS engagements, Battle of Arsal, Turkish operations in north Syria etc. You can fly real-world Israeli missions where they bomb Iranian assets or supposed Hezbollah-bound weapon shipments. And then fictional but not completely outer-space scenarios can always include another war with Israel, a Syrian/Turkish war over Hatay or Syria attempting to reclaim Turkish proxy-controlled parts of north Syria from Afrin to Jarablus, bombing Hezbollah trying to infiltrate/attack Israel by sea (which happened for real), Russia fighting Turkey over Idlib, Turkey fighting Iran over Syria, the possibilities are nearly endless. Sure it would be nice if it went all the way down to the Sinai, but then that means they have to make Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Amman...basically all of populated Jordan and Israel, and the Tel Aviv area and Gaza would burn through a lot of PCs. And then why stop there, I mean Libya is close, go down all the way to Yemen? :D I guess as a long term it would be amazing to spread the map down to the Sinai and East through Iraq to the Iranian border so you can do Iran-Iraq war, ISIS, Gulf War and the 2003 invasion, Turkey's anti-PKK ops in north Iraq etc......but for now, the area included in this map is the most perfect and versatile part of the world they could have thought of including. I actually lament the lack of Deir ez-Zor in the east more than the map not further extending south. It would be amazing breaking the siege on that city that ISIS had imposed for over three years, which was one of the more feel-good parts of the SCW personally.
  4. I tried after this video was taken, no dice. And then a Tunguska got me :music_whistling: To test it I later respawned and successfully locked on to a friendly tent from >10km. Also today I couldn't target two units from within range, one was a MANPADS guy which I don't know if you can even lock on to, but the other was an Osa.
  5. Clear line of sight Laser turned on Master arm turned on Weapons power turned on Weapons selected Daylight Still cannot lock these targets. Take a look at the video. There is no audio but my microphone stream can be heard, when you hear clicks that's me pressing the lock button, however all the Shkval does is display range, I'm unable to lock. Pressed the button, held it for a few seconds, nothing. Reset weapons, turn laser on and off, turn weapon power on and off and master arm on and off didn't help either. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBgOaG1T_eY&feature=youtu.be[/ame] Later today I could lock on to some targets, however other targets were also unlockable. All of this was from a very low altitude (<20m). This was online, these units may have respawned as they do on this server (DCS-NL), maybe that's the issue, perhaps the Shkval doesn't "see" units that respawned?
  6. Will check once again, following the above, and record a video of it not working if it still doesn't work. Thanks.
  7. ^This is the same as the procedure described in the OP.
  8. The line that extends from the center of the HUD when you're flying at low speed which shows the direction and speed in which you are moving, the thing useful for getting her in a hover, it disappears when the Shkval is uncaged. This prevents me from say, having the Shkval on a target while trying to stop moving and get in a hover while using the useful line indicator? Is there any other instrument like this that I'm missing? Forgive my ignorance but I've only been properly flying the Kamov for the last two days.
  9. I did a search on this, most people said you have to manually press the next waypoint button, but a post in this thread describes a way to make the PVI do this automatically: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=108303 Now, people in the thread say this worked for them, but it doesn't work for me. I follow the steps as described, but when entering the sequence into the PVI, I press WP1 button and it displays the coordinates, I press Enter and then press WP2, however now coordinates do not show. I continue the sequence regardless of this but in the end it does not work, I turn off WP select button at the end, turn it back on and engage route mode, absolutely nothing happens, the PVI shows no coordinates. Route mode is turned off all the time while I enter the sequence, and desired heading is enabled as per instruction. Since other people in the thread report that it works, I'm wondering where I'm going wrong.
  10. Well that solves it, thanks! Any idea when it would be the "proper" time to turn this on during the startup sequence?
  11. Glad it's not a bug. But how do I know how to turn on everything appropriately if it's not in the manual or training? What exactly is it that I need to do differently? I start the plane up step by step the way I always do as per manual instruction, ailerons do not work however. Other control surfaces do.
  12. When starting cold from ramp, ailerons simply do not react to control input at all after I properly start the plane. When hot starting or air starting, they do work. I tested this both in single player and on a random multiplayer server, same issue, only when cold start. This is post 1.5.3. update.
  13. I'm new to the mission builder, but I created a new mission, populated some airfields with parked aircraft and hit "Save" a few times, however when exiting the mission editor it warned me that the mission is not saved and that progress may be lost, even though I clicked Save from the drop down menu right before that. Sure enough when I exited, my last save was not for when I saved, but from an hour ago. Why?
  14. EDIT: not sure if this belongs here or in installation problems part of the 1.5 forum, if the later then please move. Just bought this bird today, opened DCS, after an update (have not played in 3 days) the MM asked me if I want to download and install the Mirage and the L-39 (my two new planes), clicked yes, Mirage downloaded and I was prompted for the serial which I entered, and that's it. What about the L-39? It is: 1. still not installed 2. doesn't even have its desktop icon in the lower main menu 3. is nowhere to be seen in Module Manager (the "modules" tab is completely empty, and my "installed modules" tab shows everything I've got except the L-39) I am of course using latest 1.5
  15. I've been waiting for this sale with great anticipation to buy the L-39 only to get a rude awakening today :( . I guess it's still too early after release for it to be discounted?
  16. I'm eagerly awaiting the flood lights as well, so this is good news, hope to see them soon. It sounds like a small detail when mentioned, but everyone loves shining thingies and it adds immensely to the immersion of night or near-night missions.
  17. Same problem here. Repairing doesn't help. Please note that DCS is running in the background but is not listed in the Applications tab of Task manager. Clicking on the shortcut again gives me a "only one instance can run" error so it's indeed running. Here is the Processes tab of my Task Manager, notice DCS as well as some related FW 190 things, not sure if related to the problem?
  18. I have an issue: The patch downloaded successfuly, the loading bar went all the way to the end and then the window switched to "Waiting for update to complete" or something like that. Then it hanged like that for over half an hour, until I had to manually terminate it in task manager as it was obviously stuck forever. Now when I go to open DCS the updater opens again and is stuck on "Initializing". What the hell?
  19. I'll stick with the 10-20 curves for now. Hovering with 0 in place is almost impossible with my X-55, with curves set up the way described above I actually experienced this wonderful sensation of having control over my own imminent life or death :) Later I may change things as I get better at it.
  20. Hello ED forums! Relatively new to DCS, not new to flight sims, completely and utterly new to helicopters. Took her out for a maiden flight today after watching a cold start video and reading the manual for an hour, and managed to not explode and destroy airbase property, though the short flight was quite eventful and the landing was quite rough and crop-trampling. Anyway I searched the net and didn't really find an answer to this so may I ask: What values do you have your joystick curves set to? For example the Mig-21 manual lists recommended values for yaw, pitch and roll, but I've found no such thing in the (otherwise excellent) Mi-8 manual.
