  1. Hey Brad,

I think what you are asking is whether people have considered building a DCS launcher. Its possible that ED decided against this due to lessening server load during major release points, as download times already seem to bog down during these times, let alone a ton of clients auto-updating with some sort of "DCS Client." Also, welcome but this is in the incorrect category. Tournaments is really for tournament events that the community wants to schedule. :)

  2. Hey folks,

Since I received a lot of interest and feedback from the post here, I just wanted to update and let the interested parties know that this is still planned, however progress will be slow until the fall, as I am tied up with some real world commitments until then. In spite of that I am still hoping to cover some like PVP events between now and then on the channel used for the GM Series, so stay tuned and feel free to continue to contact me in the mean time!

No worries Hook, looking forward to it :)

  3. We forgot to mention that both groups of ground units were actually armored presidential corteges that were heading for the same summit before war suddenly broke out between the two countries so jets had to scramble in an attempt to both protect own president and attack enemy's convoy :D

Jokes aside, this was a fun event to watch, very high paced! I'm personnaly happy with this new setup, it brought something new to the table and put pilots' skills to a tough test so hats off to all contestants and congratulations to SF, you guys really demonstrated what thinking out of the box really means!

It also shows that you practiced and planned your fight according to victory conditions.

Thanks to my partners, the 59th Ravens who did a great job at organizing and hosting the competition.

Kudos to Chillywillies for stepping up to the plate as our live streamer.

I'd also like to thank Panda for the great commentary that he provided in the Finale, we hope to have you in the commentary box again at the next one.

Round 2 will probably bring some adjustments to the ruleset for even more exciting, white knuckle fights and we hope to see you all at the party again.

I'll start working on the AAR soon, I think the 104th will still dominate the A2A department while SF will surely get the lions share A2G wise, stay tuned!

Thank you! It was a good experience for me and I'm glad to be part of events that bring the DCS community closer together. We really enjoyed hosting the event. :)

  4. Argo is wonderful!

    Hey Greg,

An absolute bravo to you for making such a wonderful campaign. Just got done streaming Mission 1 and it is truly marvelous- I struggled to avoid failure, but it was extremely satisfying when I got that 100. Thank you for making great content! :) (If you want to see my shenanigans, just click my channel link in my Signature and then you can watch the VOD on Twitch)

  5. Wanted to pop in and say thank you to the 59th Ravens, and Situational Awareness as well as the participating squadrons and players for allowing our channel to host your event; this is something we have wanted to do for a long time and we look forward to putting on an awesome show in 1080p60 for you ladies and gents! :)

  6. Hello everyone . I have wanted to play DCS for a very long time and I finally have a computer capable of running the game . Unfortunately , I JUST make the minimum requirements and the modules and the joystick are expensive . So , if I invest in all this equipment , I want to have a basic idea of how the gameplay will be . I wanted to ask you guys if low settings makes the game unplayable or if the gameplay makes up for it . I have noticed that the community is very helpful . Also , I don't know if this is the correct sub-forum . Could a mod please move the thread if it is not in the correct sub-forum?

Can you send me your specs or post them in the forum just so I can see?

Also, I would recommend getting a 1050Ti. Its not an expensive card but it should help a lot going forward.

  7. I'm no programmer, but looking at the CRASH file it seems that you could try to reinstall your Visual C++ 2013 Redistributables. Reinstall both x86 and x64 redistributables, located here. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

Also, make sure DCS is running as administrator. When reinstalling Visual C++ 2013, you should restart your PC after reinstalling the x86 and x64 versions, respectively, regardless of whether you get a prompt or not.

  8. Hey look what I just picked up at my local newsagent today! Just go's to show the Hawgs are not forgotten and this worthy cover shot and article proves it. Soon as I saw it I just had to buy it hehe, HAWGS F... ROCK BABY!! thumbup.gif pilotfly.gif

That is an absolutely beautiful cover. ;)

  9. Those are pretty distinct conclusions. Do you have any evidence to back them up?

There has been one single asset pack announced, and already you've painted Dante's Inferno. Why not have some trust, not just in ED, but in the community.

Thank you so much for saying exactly what I wanted to say...people need to calm down and have faith in things for once.

  10. All you need to do is end all unwanted processes as a matter of routine. Try a program called End It All.

Not only does it end GeForce Experience, it ends all other redundant background processes.

    Surely a much better approach?

Do you think that the upcoming Windows 10 Game Mode would work similarly?

  11. I think ED will make an F-16 module, once the development of a Ground Radar is completed for the Hornet.

The Ground Radar is one of the most important systems in the F-16.

I do not have much knowledge about the differences of the Ground Radar between the Falcon & the Hornet,

but once the technology is developed, I am sure ED will be able to adapt it to a F-16 module, if they plan to make it in the future.

Then isn't the F-18 the key because it has ground radar? ;)

  12. No, unfortunately in the mission editor, so you would need to adjust it in any mission by going to the mission editor, open the weather settings and set the clouds to either 0 or 10, you may be ok with setting 1 to 3 also, but 4 or higher hit the FPS very noticeable if you have this bug.

Two squad members had drops down to 8-17fps on average.

Roger that, thank you for the information. :)

  13. It is the still ongoing process of optimizing the special "display drivers" that come with a stereo scopic screen, rendering then, handling stereo refresh rates. Just see what ATW and ASW have achieved in terms of FPS and overall experience. As you may have noticed "other" VR Games do rarely replicate a real life open world environment with visibility up to 100 miles or more.

In fact most often they have specific "designed" environments that place objects and massive details convenient, to optimize performance in the level...

And then there is the optimization in the game engine for VR plus the need to optimize for specific hardware and SDKs.

Just have a look what Oculus themselves are "focusing" when they talk about optimizing a game.

    https://developer3.oculus.com/documentation/pcsdk/latest/concepts/book-dg/

For the current state of VR as a emerging technology and the lack of optimized SDK for a Simulation engine and no support from VR vendors for non-premium titles, DCS World's performance and integration of VR is astonishing, for me...

I am aware it does seem different from a user perspective, but given the challenge behind it, it really is phenomenal. ;)

Its a challenge. I agree with what you are saying. Let me know if I can help at all. :)

  14. Sorry. Here's what I can provide here:

My performance in general (VR/no VR) has been going down further and further since 1.5.6 OB (is worst in the Viggen but I understand that is an Early Access release and it will be fixed better in the future.)

I notice these problems really only in MP. I'm assuming that it could be netcode changes or issues that have come up recently.

  15. Here are my results:

TacView tells all. Every single gun run I made in that first video made good strikes and overall, I had a 77% hit rate. The average T-72 seems to take around 300-400 bullet strikes to kill.

I will say, from going through Operation Piercing Fury, that while we are talking about tanks I swear that I had a bunch of gun rounds hit an infantry unit and he was not dying... its possible this issue is not limited to tanks. Just my two cents.

  16. I've had the same experience. I found a dispersion mod somewhere here on the forums that mostly resolved it for me. It's an old tweak and will require some manual editing of files because the DCSW file structure has changed slightly since the mod was created.

Could you link that? I'm interested to try that out. Thanks! :)

  17. Hi ChillyWillies - your instructions were perfect and I had no issues installing the updated A-10C into DCS World. Thanks for your help and to all those that took the time to reply! Now I've got some studying to do.

    Brent

    Hey Brent,

Your welcome and I am glad to help. If you have A-10C questions you can put them in the appropriate thread under the DCS: A-10C Warthog sub-forum or simply PM me as well and I will get back to you.

    Chilly
