  1. https://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/smart/jp3_09_1.pdf this manual is a bit old but it can give you a better understanding of ground laser operations Chapter 2 in this manual will cover alot of stuff mentioned in this post
  2. think of a flashligh. The farther the light travels the larger the covered area gets but it looses alot of energy. Same thing with laser designators. so say you are lasing a tgt at 5km that is 5 meters tall. but at 5KM the beam covers a 8m radius. so you may point the laser at the tgt and the beam will continue around the tgt going passed it which is called the spill over effect this is an issue and may make the bomb less accurate. and IF a bomb is dropped outside the safety cone yes there is a possibility it will hit the designator. not always 100 percent of the time though. There is a video somewhere that is a recording of a training mission where the Targeting pod is in LSS and the jtac is lasing a target but since they didnt use the safety cone the Targeting pod locks onto the designator. if i find the video i will post it
  3. I don't know if laser designators are modeled correctly in DCS, due to the fact that a LGB seeks the point that has the strongest energy. So if a LGB is dropped head on with the Laser designator the bomb should hit the designator not the TGT. I have tried this myself but the bomb will hit the target which is incorrect that is why JFOs and JTACs are taught the Laser Safety Cone. also is beam divergence modeled into DCS
  4. UPDATE: TM has agreed to sell me the Articulation sphere for 30 bucks iam gonna call and order it tomorrow i appreciate all the replys i keep you guys updated on how the whole process goes
  5. I really appreciate the input and i did notice the stick rotated before i pulled it apart so something must have twisted it most likely when i picked it up i must have just given it the Improper twist and broke it which sucks cause i cant play DCS till i get a repair
  6. So I started up dcs and got into an a-10 and noticed my joystick wouldn't bank left like something was jammed down in the joystick so I pulled the stick apart and noticed that the small swivel Ball where the wires runs through was completely broken in 2 pieces and was jamming the stick, also I noticed a small white plastic piece which housed a magnet was stuck to the circuit board. Any idea where this magnet came from? And I have only had this stick for a year so iam a little peeved at this cause it is an expensive stick. It worked fine the last time I used it which was 2 days ago and it has sat on my desk since then so idk how it could have been broken
  7. Heres how i take off First line your self up with the runway. Then lock the tail wheel the lever is white and located on the left side of the cockpit right above your MW50 switch. lock that and and trim the nose down. slowly increase the throttle to 2000-2400 RPM and let it start rolling and use the rudder to keep tracking straight. Once your tail raises up slowly let off the rudder and get ready for the nose to come up if you didnt trim enough. also if you cant control the yaw with the pedals you are most likely running the engine to hard to fast
  8. So I was excited to find out that the Nevada map covered my hometown in California and to my disappointment it is just a low res SAT picture it is not actually modeled. My question is is there any plan to add detail to towns in the map Such as Hesperia, Apple Valley, Barstow, Ft Irwin, Victorville Wrightwood, and etc. there are some large airports in that area like SCLA (AKA) George AFB
