Probably the last update to my textures overhaul.
I reworked the external cockpit textures by adding missing rivets and other details. Details like wrinkles in the cables of the AOA/NWS indicator and HUD.
I have also added actual MFD pages and instrument gauges.
Most of it is entirely reworked but these textures are heavily based on @Ala12Rv-watermanpc and @wolfthrower cockpit textures.
Looking very good mate!!, keep it up!
There is so much ED left in the "to do" list in terms of visuals for the Viper that this is very welcome.

Flat shadows are quite a mess. Sharp/quality shadowing is limited to crazy Fov's and the limits of the screen, ground shadows are missing at like 15m, ultra low quality shadows at 10m and at the very center of the image, etc.

Still nothing...sad.

Meanwhile the 2021 Newsletter show some points
Some clue was show on the 2022 and beyond video, with a moving weather front with rain (0:52).
and yes, ED has not show actually a new newsletter about your status.
that's the whole point of the thread...that was more than a year ago!

I have noticed a decreased rendering distance in trees and other stuff, guess that's the reason for the increased performance.

Great, thanks!, it works well , however, after trying to make the app to start minimized by selecting "minimized" in the shortcut's propieters, the app will start maximized no matter what., so I have to manually press the minimize button every time I start the system. I can't find any option in the newly created task nor in the shortcut or the exe of the app to change the maximized startup. The weird thing is that the app already started minimized when manually started using the previous UAC way.
Any idea about how to make it start minimized too?
thanks!

Just getting sick of this. I have UAC enabled and this app is asking for permission every single time I start windows, preventing it from start inless I manually press "accept". How can I avoid this and let the app start automatically?
thanks!

For me I had a problem with the file terrain.cfg but there was a message, did you try with my file (post above january 13th) ?
That did the trick!!, For some reason I didn't see the file attached. Thanks buddy!

What is the problem / message you have ?
Simply CTD as soon as the mod is installed. Worked great a few minutes before the patch. After uninstalling it, everything works fine.

For me, it stopped working in the last open beta 2.7.11.22041. Any idea how to make it work again?
Thanks!

It's been a while since we got the new clouds (a year more or less). It was stated that soon after the launch, we would have improvements and fixes, but I haven't noticed any significant improvement regarding this matter and I can't remember any news letter in many months talking about this. I wonder if we could have some info about the developement status of this stuff...new clouds types, moving weather, humidity depiction, clouds woble fix, dawn/dusk lighting adjustments, fog implementation, etc.
I think the team has been performing quite well these last years, even now given the tough times, just would love to know something about all this, if possible.
Thanks and keep it up!

Try this out guys - extract the Config and MissionEditor folders to root install of DCS and allow merge/overwrite of files
https://drive.google.com/file/d/17BpEMbAXc30rSFOXN3JMkvju7sYDrFHZ/view?usp=sharing
I have created two new visibility settings within the options page of DCS - 'Ultimate' (x2 the draw distance of Extreme) and 'Insane' (4x the draw distance of Extreme)
The problem with object 'pop-in' was solved by increasing the Instancer buffer values in terrainoptions41.lua.
Thanks for the addition Mustang, great work!!, I wonder if something like that could be done with the clouds?, I mean, do you know any way to increase the clouds detail and/or draw distance beyond the actual one?. Thanks again!

My experience is that the "feel" push-through resistance is directly related to the amount of friction settings applied to the throttle arms. Less resistance - easy pushthrough and vica versa.
Thats interesting!. Anyway, I would like to use the throttle at its minimum resistance (minimum warranting the levers would stay in place at angle).

Great to know!, thanks!

is a new throttle your xmas gift??
Maybe! , but I'm still not fully convinced.
16 hours ago, rob10 said:Honestly, the fact that there aren't any threads about it being a problem should be a good hint that it's not. It's been out for quite a while now, and this is pretty basic functionality (not an edge case that only a small subset of users would notice) and it would be a pretty significant issue if it was common (not something easily overlooked or worked around if your engines cut out). I'd pretty much guarantee there would be threads about it if it was an issue.
That's a good point!. Thanks mate!

thanks all for your replies, so I guess it is not that bad. Would love to hear from more people so we have a more accurate idea about this issue.

Cords bending aside, the thing I fear the most in case I decide to purchase this throttle, is the weak idle detent. From videos, it looks like a couple of notches in the throttle's levers collide with a button, creating that detent. The problem is that it seems way too easy to pass that idle detent and press the cut off buttons. In certain circunstances, I have very abruptly moved my warthog throttles back to decrease power very fast and I'm afraid this could be an issue with the winwing unit.
So, the question is, how bad is it?...I mean, is it something one can truly and easily get used to?, is it really that weak?, how many times have you turn off your engines unintentionally?
I know these are kind of hard questions to answer, and heavily dependant of each user but guess we can somehow have an idea of how bad/not bad this issue is.
thanks!!

Please keep in mind that SSAO generally speaking looks a bit s*** - it flickers and doesn't always appear in the correct spots.
BUT I do like the idea of having Raytraced AO (maybe that can be only feature to keep it fast) could help a lot for the look of the planes and the world.Having a proper ray traced global illumination solution for indirect light in DCS would be awesome. However, that would truly be performance hungry and would take quite some time to develop so I don't think that would be a solution at the moment. AO is far from perfect, and you are right, it won't be 100% accurate, but it is 1000% better than having nothing and to be honest, I think it makes a GREAT job when done right (take a look at other certain modern flight sim, AO looks incredible and extremely realistic). About the flickering, well, it shouldn't happen unless samples quality is way too low so it should be aesily fixable (some quality options in the graphics menu should do, just select between low, med, high and ultra and then everyone can choose accordingly with the power capabilities of their machines).
Anyway, I would be already happy just by making AO more pronounced, at least to make it visible in cockpits/airplanes, which right now is not the case.

It's been a month since last OB update
I wonder what presents ED will have in store for us on the next one
(Silence before the storm? )
I would love to get the water improvements that have been shown off in most videos and screens for the last few months...among other things.

This is still bugged for me, any info about this issue?
thanks

+1, I think I requested this long time ago. Most DCS planes tend to lack proper suspension effects once on the ground as it seems way too stif (no bouncing). Exceptions could be Mig-29 (excelent ground interaction) and F-16.

Hornet Radar TDC Slew
in Wish List
Posted
That's a good news. Please, do this a customizable setting. Since the slew rate was increased, it is literally impossible for me to use the radar page with my low quality TM WH throttle's mini stick. An option for slew rate for different pages/systems would be needed.
thanks.
