  1. The current Mistral Missile is totally ineffective against flaring targets, a PK around 10-20% which is pathetic. The mistral missile IRL has excellent flare rejection due to its advanced Image processing and Narrow FOV. . Military Today quotes "The Mistral missile has a high kill probability. After firing more than 3700 Mistral missiles of all variants during training it had a success rate of 92 to 95%" . The Manufacturer suggests 97%. Other public sources suggest around 80%. I suspect that DCS is now using a generic 'Manpad' seeker model which is totally inappropriate for a modern missile such as the Mistral. Its like using an AIm 9b seeker for an Aim 9x ! The ORIGINAL mistral model used in DCS was pretty accurate representation of actual performance.
  2. Any intention to make the L pilot sight adjustable (e.g. like the UH1H). Using the sight currently is 'guesswork'. Currently for guns the sight points short of where the rounds impact. For Rockets the sight points Long beyond where the rockets impact. In the existing L you can see visuals for the sight adjuster, but it is non functional. Ideally the pilot would surely adjust the sight depression to suit the weapon being fired?
  3. Im see that an existing Normandy map Mission works on Normandy 2 with no action required. But what about missions on the Channel Map? WIll they just work, or does the mission need to be converted to use Normandy 2?
  4. Nothing in the patch notes for the last patch DCS Open Beta 2.7.6.12852 and the subsequent Hotfix regarding the mistral missile, but suddenly since the patch seem unable to get a head on lock, only rear aspect, and even then at far shorter range.

    Don't know if this is what you were thinking of from a few months ago... Putting this line in your ,,,\Saved Games\DCS.openBeta\Config\autoexec.cfg file MAY give you a VR frame rate improvement . options.graphics.stereo_mode_use_shared_parser = true I believe it was a testing setting, may by now be standard, or may no longer be functional. Does no harm to try.
  6. Is it correctly trimmed to remove slip? If not trimmed the speed will be hugely degraded At 2,600 rpm and 46 MP in level flight at 5,000 ft I get 420kts easily
  7. HA HA, found out how to defeat a bomber squadron. Attack so there is a bomber in line of sight/fire between you and the 'target' bomber. Your target will shoot down his own wingman whilst firing at you !! Just saw a JU88 shoot down 2 of his wingmen!

  9. Bomber Gunners insanely effective? A general observation that the defensive gunners in the Ju88/B17/A20 etc are WAY too effective. Seem to have Unlimited ammo and an insane continuous rate of fie that is totally unrealistic. Bombers like these have no need of escort fighters, they are totally lethal if you get anywhere remotely near them. Makes any interception attempt pretty pointless, not possible to recreate mass bomber raid interception as per Battle of Britain which is a great shame. Needs to be made more realistic.
  10. You can kill them with either Bombs, or around 7 HVAR rocket direct hits from a P51. P51 machine guns do noticeable damage too.
  11. I'm having no frame rate issues at all in VR with the channel map, far smoother than Normandy map. All on High settings & Maxed out pre-load radius (P1.5 and Oculus S'Warp switched off to allow > 45fps). I'm getting 60 to 90fps . For me limiting factor (on any map) comes only in missions with a LOT of units where DDR3 dual channel memory performance is a limiting factor. Graphics card barely ticking over. The latest Nvidia drivers (446.14) gave a big frame rate boost across the board. (Specs: Intel i74970k @ 4Ghz/4.4Ghz Turbo, 32Gb DDR3 memory, MSI GTX1080TI Gaming X (11Gb) Oculus Rift CV1)
  12. There is a +ive side to this, on the FA-18C the central colour MPCD has been largely unreadable with the MAP on for the HSI and SA pages , especially in VR. Since the last update the map and symbology is really clear. I hope any hotfix that might be done can retain that.

  15. Sorted out my missing Keywords problem. I used the RESET page Keywords option. That brought in the missing keywords which I then could apply to the Profile using the FINISH steps.
  16. How can I rteplace my Keywords database? I am on version 2.5.19 of Vaicom pro. I have bought and validated the Realistic ATC licence. It shows on the List licences window. I have performed the Keyword editor 'Finish' routine as per the manual page 36. BUT only about 50% of the new Keywords listed on the manual page 70 appear in the Editor Keyword list. The Kewords that are present work fine. The ones that are missing don't work (e.g. Kiss Off, Ball, Hornet Ball, Needles , Overhead) So doing the FINISH steps is never going to work if the Keywords are not in the database anyway. Hence the question,, how can I get my Vaicom Keywords database updated to include all the new Realistic ATC keywords? With onlky a subset of them present its a waste of time trying to use them since DCS won't respond if the corerct commands are not entered in the expected sequence. A misisng keyword breaks the sequence, hence Supercarrier comms are unusable for me at the moment.
  17. I have bought and validated the Realistic ATC licence. Some of the ATC keywords are present in the Keywords editor and work Some are missing (e.g. Kiss Off) Some are present but do not appear to have any effect. Reinstalled Vaicom just in case, but made no difference.
  18. Are some of the New ATC comms Keywords not implemented yet? Most obviously KISS OFF seems to be missing (doesnt recognise and does not appear in the Keyword list in editor). likewise overhead (Tower overhead is there, and Overhead Approach is there but shouldn't be according to the manual).
  19. Anyone with VR tried the new MSAA MASK SIZE slider which has appeared on the VR options page? I've tried it from Minimum to Max with MSAA set to 2x but it doesn't seem to do anything. No image quality change, no framrate change. In theory it should improve frame rates by only processing what is in the headset FOV. That said hugely happy with the VR performance improvement in the latest update, Well done ED.
  20. Clutching at straws, but might you have something in your Saved Games/DCS.openbeta folder? Maybe try deleting everything from fxo and Metashaders2 folders and allow the new DCS install to recompile them? Otherwise look for anthing in your Saved Games/DCS.openbeta/Mods folder that might be upsetting things (normally this would be empty unless you are running Tacview or SRS or Vaicom, but you never know) Good luck Unrelated to that I had a similar issue with the AJS37 viggen. Myanti virus detected a trojan in asj37.dll and quarantined it (probably a false +ive). When I ran DCS it was fine as long as I didn't fly the viggen, but it wouldn't let me connect to a pure client multiplayer server saying I didn't have a pure client. If I restored the fie from quarantine it allowed me to connect.
  21. You could try out the Grim Reapers multiplayer "Grim Reapers - UK Open WW2 Server" . Runs a Normandy map 24hrs per day with both A2A and A2G missions, with Spitfires & P51s & BF109s. Includes B17 and A20 Havoc escort missions. Also some ground vehicles available for CA players. Great fun, and very relaxed pace. Usually on a few folk on at any one time. Server is open, currently no password. Search DCS on multiplayer for Grim Reapers - UK Open WW2 Server. Ideally should join the Grim Reapers discord (channel GR WW2 Voice) so you can talk to other players whilst you fly, though some guys don't bother with discord. You can even end up flying with the occasional ED developer.
  22. There are a few similar reports in the DCS WORLD 2.5/BUGS/GAME CRASHES threads. ED suggest its a graphics driver problem from the crash dumps, but that is obviously not the case since after the game is restarted the missions are fine ONCE, or you can replay a track ONCE, but if you try a 2nd mission, or watch a track after a mission the game freezes/crashes. IF you reatart the game the same mission or track plays fine (first time). So its looking like something not being tidied up at the end of a mission/.track to me that IS cleared when the game is restarted that is confusing the graphics processing (e.g. a ghost texture or something).
  23. Just allowed DCS updater apply the strange Update from/to the same version I mentioned above, it did a VERY TINY update, took about 2 secs to install. Since then the problem has gone away completely !! NO other changes made. Looks like can close this one.
