Sure, the F-5 has superior turn performance, but note the listed combat thrust to weight ratios. All things being equal, the Kfir could probably beat the F-5 handily by taking advantage of its superior thrust to weight ratio.

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
aaron886 replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
There are a ton of threads that you must not have seen: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=224080&highlight=right%20eye -
Great stuff yet again, Kegetys. Thank you for putting your time into these mods!

Generally speaking they're older today than any other time in the history of fighter pilots. AIM-9X missed or failed to guide, by the way, as described by the LCDR during the panel.

canned_fire - It's just the way the diagram is drawn, indicating that the descent begins off the 180. It's not a particularly precise diagram. It was flown the same way as it is today. Thanks for taking the time to post the image though.

But wait, there's more! Hovering over a checkbox to determine which UVW file is in use for that effect does not work for me either. I see no tooltips.
-
Can you post the diagram? I'm pretty sure you're just reading it wrong, the CV landing pattern has been pretty standardized for decades.
-
Yes, I followed the manual. It says to check the box in Jetseat Handler, then provide a location, and the uvw files will be copied there. They are not copied there.
-
This does not work for me. SSA never copies its own UVW files for me to edit.

Sir you are a gem. Living in 256k country, Jetfighter and Falcon 3.0 on your CV, obvious technical chops. A classic flight simmer. I'm young, (Falcon 3.0 was the first sim I owned as a boy) but I've recently imagined what an incredible thing it would be to jump from "what we used to have" to the current era of physically-based rendering (PBR,) nascent virtual reality, and boutique precision-engineered HOTAS peripherals. You're all set for a real treat with but a modest investment of your time and money, hope you enjoy! If you ever need a hand you can sure send me a message and I'd be happy to help.

Need I say a word?

If you're going to buy expensive pedals, Slaw is the best. Period. TM is pushing the pendular action for all it's worth, but it isn't going to beat the artisan quality of Slaw's pedals.

Well, new day, another attempt, and suddenly it's fine on the hub. I have no idea why, I tried restarting yesterday and it didn't help. Who cares, it's working now! Fantastic upgrade, with this and having cleaned out and re-greased the action, it feels like a new throttle.

Navy pilots don't really flare in the traditional sense. Ashore, Navy pilots may reduce descent rate on touchdown in certain conditions to reduce wear on the jet or certain stores, but it's not a flare like an airliner flare. The examples above are good, just realize that the Hornet won't reward your 10 fpm touchdown descent rate. The big trailing link gear are made to soak up a lot of impact and don't like soft touchdowns, especially with crosswind in play. More realistically, you might just reduce the descent rate from say, 1000 fpm to 500 fpm.

OK. I'm stumped. I installed the slew hat successfully, and made sure my firmware is up to date. I ran the calibration tool, and I can see the axes working. However, this only works when plugged directly into a case USB port. If I used my powered hub, which I rely on for all my flight sim peripherals (at a short distance from my case,) the device shows up as a "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed.) Lights on the throttle don't turn on. Any help?

** DCS: F-14 Development Update - September!! **

When will the Brony spam stop? -
Granted, takeoff in AUTO is not a NATOPS procedure, but it is not prohibited either. It's occasionally done for demonstration flying, including by the Blue Angels. Regardless, the problem is that it points to a flaw in the FCS as programmed.

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
aaron886 replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If the price is reasonable, I'd buy this. A simple pointing device that doesn't interfere with the stick is exactly what I've wanted for VR.- 3421 replies

Controls box for Virpil Desk Mount (Arduino)
aaron886 replied to Karon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks dude, nice work on the blog! -
I've also encountered it. Especially when taking off flaps AUTO (demonstration flying,) and then accelerating above approximately 225-250 KCAS range. The pitch-up will not stop until decelerating such that flaps can be lowered to HALF (not in ORIDE) and then back to AUTO. It's some kind of pitch integrator windup, and definitely a bug.

Sir does that include 1157? Not in a hurry just making sure it didn't get lost.

[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
aaron886 replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
f4l0, I really enjoy using SimShaker and it does a fine job, but have you ever considered opening up more of the software for user customization? I'd really like to be able to adjust what each effect does to the motors. For example, I find the increased g-feel vibration on one side or the other based on bank angle to be unrealistic. Thanks for the consideration! -
Controls box for Virpil Desk Mount (Arduino)
aaron886 replied to Karon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Karon that UFC box is a great idea, I think I'll have to give that a try. A couple extra buttons for master mode and master caution would be perfect, too. I don't know anything about DCS-BIOS, but were I to make a box with lit buttons for master mode and master caution, could the arduino board be configured to dynamically change the lights? Ideally, I could do just what you did and follow that amstudio tutorial to start, then maybe delve into DCS-BIOS if I have the time. Also, for the ignorant, now that you've made a few of these do you recommend the Pro Micro or a different Arduino board? -
Will VirPil and VKB ever get their together?

Where are the mods to close this rotten thread? Why can't people let a thread like this just die?
