  1. When flying as the Navigator/Wireless-Operator in the Mosquito there are instruments that do not work, the fuel gauges for instance, do not show the fuel levels on any of the fuel gauges. The readings on some of the front panel instruments show different info' to what the pilot see's and often the propeller blades are not turning until the Mosquito is in the air. Most of the controls on the left side of the cockpit cannot be changed by the Navigator either. Cheers

  3. Nicely done Fenrir, I have also been planning this mission for a couple of days in the Mission Builder and actually found the RAF weather report for 18 Feb' 1944. I'll post a link to it up here later when I get on my main PC. Now I've got to work out whether to use Static or Dynamic weather to get it right, it's a shame the Channel map doesn't cover the whole route so I intend to use Biggin Hill for the start/end point, also, it didn't help that there are 4 TOCQUEVILLE'S in upper normandy but I like the one you've chosen. Now all we need is for a winter version of the Channel map to get it as authentic as possible.

  6. The LF IX, with Merlin 66 came out in mid '43, the K-4 was late '44, so a year and a half then :) Witch
  7. Can we expect a 1944 version of the Spitfire at some stage? With the E wing, and a "clipped" option, drop-tanks and bombs, it will be able to carry out more historically accurate types of missions for the D-Day period, and onwards. It will also be able to fight against the current axis aircraft and ground targets as a contemporary, rather than being "1 to 1 1/2 years older" by comparison. E wing = 120 rounds of 20mm per gun + 250 rounds of .50" per gun. Cheers Witch

  9. Just tried the ECO settings of -2lb's and 2000 RPM, that should give 40 gallons an hour, I had 20 Gallons in the tank, set in the mission builder, and at those settings the fuel only lasted 23 minutes @ 3000', not the 30 minutes I was expecting. Witch

As convergence on the Spitfire is "around" 225-250 yards, if you shoot at ~100 yards your rounds will go each side of the cockpit, converging in front of him! given that he's flying straight and level and your gun-sight is on his fuselage, it would be better to aim slightly off to one side and slightly high, top of the tail height, this is because your rounds will be coming "up" from your gun position to the sight level line, so until convergence they are "low", the best you can do is hit him with all the guns from one wing. This all changes in a turn fight as you're likely to get hits on his wings which are a bigger target in a turn. Witch

  14. Hi, The Spitfire has x2 Hispano MKII Cannons, I have noticed though that the ammunition seems to be German! When I fire the guns I see the ammunition self destruct in the distance, British ammunition didn't do this but the German Minengeschoss was designed to do this. So does the Spitfire have the German ammunition model, which would be so wrong, or, even more wrong, does it have the MG151 and German ammunition model? Witch
  15. I've noticed the Spitfire is easier to take off and land and seems more controllable when taxying. Witch

Normandy Feedback I, and some squad-mates, have done some testing and have found the following: NOTE: For graphics issues we are using VIVE VR and we also compared it to how it looks on a monitor. So the following mainly refers to VR use. NOTE 2: By deleting User\Name\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha, to allow the version to make a new copy, very little difference was noticed. Roads: On the Map, in the Mission Builder, the road layout has some roads that are just closed loops, no way to get to them apart from going off-road. The road network doesn't follow the actual (1944) road network, this makes it hard to do an accurate "Rommel Ambush" when Vimoutiers itself, and the road in from the North, doesn't exist on the map. Looking at other aircraft from outside, their cockpit perspex appears fluorescent. Eliminated by turning "Deferred Shading to OFF". From Inside, the Spitfire canopy has a similar "shine" in a strip when looking directly to the side 90'. Some ammunition (definitely .50 Cal not Spitfire cannons & MG's) has black smoke that is very noticeable up to long ranges. The spitfire cockpit, everything seems to be covered in fluorescent radioactive dust, not so in the 109, 190 and Pony. Not so much on a monitor. Eliminated by turning "Deferred Shading to OFF". All aircraft Cockpit instruments are easier to read. Normandy (and Nevada BTW) seem VERY bright. Eliminated by turning "Deferred Shading to OFF". The sea is fairly featureless and very blue. The sea turns to black at low level with no height reference, it really is a flat black surface (no, or low, wind set in mission). Spitfire seems more stable on the ground. The only way to get a B-17 bomber formation is through extensive work and testing, this really should be a simple process to add to a map. Doing this 4 planes at a time is, well, not good! B-17's are very fragile. The Normandy Terrain is very natural looking, gentle slopes and curves in hilly areas. The houses look unrealistic, and the way towns "join" the countryside. Crashes frequently when leaving a mission online and offline. This testing was done in VR by 2 of us as well as on screen. 2 pictures to illustrate effects - Eliminated by turning "Deferred Shading to OFF".   17. Well the whole thing is too bright, as if I'm constantly looking directly at the sun, I seem to have some 500 watt halogen bulbs on the inside of my cockpit too!? Witch
  18. I use a ™ Warthog but I use the in game Settings, I put a +7 S curve on pitch, roll and rudder, seems to make it a lot less twitchy :) Witch
  19. I've also added a curve to the pitch and think it's better, so I also added one to the rudder and the footbrakes, everything seems a bit more "precise" now imho. Thanks ;) Witch
  20. in the F-15C the target designator consistently moves to the bottom of the vertical display screen. This makes it impossible to see further than 10 nm or lock a target. W
