  1. I live on the wrong side of the world to take that dusty thing off your hands at an unreasonbly low price.
  2. Silly american slang indicating I'm envious or jealous. :) Nice rig.
  3. I know you're just joking but... I'm highly confident that if Milan felt the need to step into this post he'd do it as himself. :P Seems like a decent guy and he's made me believe he's highly confident in his product.
  4. Well I guess I can use the paddle at the pinky as a shift state and use the slew x axis for rudder or a hat switch if that doesn't work in the a-10 In Elite I've turned the slew into the rudder for now as well. Flying the a-10c the throttle feels perfect, In elite? with the ability to go in reverse I'm finding it much harder to use than the x52 pro throttle. Part of it might be from being used to the twist on the stick for rudder, but I think some of it has to do with the length of the throw on the throttle axes, and the coolie hat feeling foreign to me. Hopefully I'll get used to it. Flying with flight assist off was as I expected, easier to control and I assert that to the stick tension. Not sure how the slew is going to work for rudder in prop planes, but at least it's a temporary solution. Think I'm done updating this thread unless it somehow creates discussion. I feel like I'm set on hotas for life here.
  5. Oh... and I just ordered two of these for a mounting solution. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40242177/
  6. So my warthog is here and wow just wow. This thing is one heavy beast. I can actually draw circles with the joystick axis...and Everytthing seems to be working. First thing I'm going to comment on is the feel - WOW. I knew it was all metal construction on the outside...but this thing is heavy.. very heavy. Next thing I'll comment on - I don't know how I was flying with an unmodded x52 pro as long as I was - it drew diamonds instead of circles when rotating the axes, the spring tension was wayyy weak and touchy.. I took one test flight in the a-10 and even though I don't yet have my rudder pedals.. this thing just feels super accurate and easy to fly with. I actually really like the default stick tension. That may change when I start getting into helicopters and what not... but this stick feels sooo much better to use in every way than my x52 pro did. It's going to take some getting used to.. and I need to sit back in the a-10 training mission and relearn what all these switches do. Thanks guys for chiming in and keeping my hopes up while I waited on this thing.. Now if i could only fast forward to March when I should be hearing about my MFG Crosswinds.
  7. *edit* apologetically I somehow got a little defensive over my opinion.. I'm hoping nobody caught that lol@me.. sorry. Just reiterating my main point - EASIEST method imo of staying on center is creating a deadzone. Owned TrackIR for 3 years, never really touched the curves myself. LIked that it worked decent out of the box. I didn't bother creating a deadzone until playing RoF with it's oldschool gunsight system on the prop plane in the training campaign that you have to keep lined up. Didn't spend more than 20-30 seconds creating deadzones that are barely noticable if at all.. and keep me centered when I put my head in center position. I might reduce the speed a bit, but not much as it also increases how far i have to turn my head to look behind me if I lower it too much. This has been working fine with me.. and maybe could feel a little bit "more natural" adjusting curves.. but I'd prob keep the small hardly noticable deadzone. And I'd recommend for anybody like myself who would rather plug it in and game than spend much time editing curves. All the best to you guys and all the respect in the world. But I did say the easiest :P If it doesn't apply to you, it applies to some other noob like me who reads this thread.
  8. What's unnatural is trying to stare down the sight of your crosshair in a game like RoF and having trouble keeping it centered because the slightest little motion is dectected in TrackIR.. I've seen some people solve this buy "turning off" trackIR when they want to stay centered, but that to me is unnatural. You can hardly notice the deadzone I set in the TrackIR software and it makes it 100x easier to keep your head centered in cockpit without hitting a button to turn TrackIR off. You don't need to do this? Cool.. But.. a lot of us have been mashing our center button more than any other button in the game.. and creating a small deadzone greatly reduces that need. Still good to have a center button handy for when you adjust positions but frankly, adding the smallest possible deadzone I could to TrackIR made a major improvement for me for keeping centered.
  9. But you're actually getting 1920x1080 out of the vga port on that Westinghouse? That's worth looking into.
  10. I've emailed these guys a couple times because it's easier for me to throw money at something than build it myself. I've inquired if there's a non difficult way of adding a keyboard mount attachment or if they could extend the plate on top to put the stick and throttle more on center with the arms on an office chair so there could be room for a keyboard or other peripherals between them. THey said "We understand! We're working on it!" So hopefully we'll see even more options from them in the future.
  11. Ermergerd I can't wait to get my invoice from Milan. *Throws money at screen* Ordered - Jan 14th, expecting in March. I'm going to name it "Ruds"
  12. Almost 3 am here.. my stick left a town 3 hours away about 3 hours ago. :) Should have it within the next 15 hours.
  13. The easiest thing to do? Create a deadzone on yaw/pitch around the center. It won't completely stop you from hitting the recenter button, but you won't hit it near as much. It's pretty easy to do, from the starting pip in the center of your curve line..grab the first two pips on either of side if it..make sure they're as low as possible and make them about 3/4th of a centimeter wide, then let those start to go into the curves that actually cause movement. My deadzone is small enough that it doesn't bother me the slight bit of headmovment required to get track IR moving.
  14. I just don't have the funds to throw into a 55" 4k TV or a 980 to support those resolutions. I expect the gtx 680 to last me another year or two at the very least. That being said - your 1080p hdtv I'm assuming is 120hz since it's capable of 3d? Are you utilizing it's main hdmi port to do so? A display port? Will I be able to tell what I'm looking at through the TGP in the a-10 or when I'm getting close to something in the air? sorry to be so inquisitive.. just trying t figure out if I want to deal with labels on until I find a way to rake up enough cash to invest in a newer video card/tv. But I'm thinking I can get away with a larger screen for a few hundred bucks and enjoy my simming experience much more. I know to look for the lowest response and lag input times as possible within my budget but as far as connections and ensuring the TV will output at high enough refresh rates however I hook it up to get 1080p resolution I'm clueless.
  15. I have gone through 4 track clip pros.. a $20 knock off from hong kong and settled on a delanclip. The trackclip pro is a horrible design. sure.. it works better than the hat clip..but it's a horrible design, easy to break. Even the newer "stronger" ones they put out I went through in no time. Delanclip comes with an optional rechargable usb power supply that lasts for at least 6 hours.. I'm interested in what I saw some one post in the eagle forums though as well.
  16. You should be able to change the centering button in the TIR software. I would "Copy current profile" from default or whatever you're using and then change the center/precision/pause buttons to whatever you wish. I was able to map this to joystick buttons as well as mouse/keyboard.
  17. For me it's a little heartbreaking honestly. It's a lot easier to drop $200 or less on a stick than $400 for a stick that's "on sale" on Newegg. The x52 pro FEELS great to me.. being rubberized and not difficult to reach any of the buttons. Eyeballing the x-55 I love that the throttle uses return to center toggles and has extra rotaries. But my experience tells me to stay away from it unless I plan on opening it up and checking that all the many wires in it are soldered correctly, and that I'd probably have to clean the pots with contact cleaner from time to time. My Warthog says "Shipped" on newegg. :D Wish I had some rudder pedals to hold me over until Milan sends the invoice. I want to fast forward until March already. Maybe it'll be warm around here by then too. Maybe I can somewhat rig my busted x52 pro throttle to do rudder for me in the mean time.
  18. Yeahh I'm actually rethinking the bravia it's vga port does not sound like it's going to be useful. *edit* -In regards to searching these forums, that's whats making me determined to find a solution. That lead to me making this post. After doing some research, and ultimately why I didn't buy a 1080p TV for dirt cheap years ago.. was the "PC" input thing. VGA ports are apparently not the way to go if wanting to utilize a TV. And per Nevo's suggestion prior the quoted post - I actually am rethinking this idea AFTER having searched these forums. That's what lead to me wanting to go bigger in the first place. Strictly for flight simming. I'm very content with my 27" @ 1080p for FPS gaming. Prior to that I was using an NEC 20.1" @1680x1050 and while it still is a great monitor (I have it sitting next to my 27" for when I used to run 2 clients in Eve Online at the same time). When I first got the 27" I was like "Wow I can actually see people in *Insert FPS game here*" and became the guy people go after because he just killed your whole team. I was never going for surround or anything.. the gtx 680 4gb handles what's been thrown at it, albeit some games out there these days I might still choose to run without AA and set shadows to low, I feel comfortable to skip the 900 series. I'm just fine sticking with TrackIR for flying rather than jumping on the VR bandwagon. A game like Elite: Dangerous I tend to not have issues because of it's radar system, albeit it can be hard finding smoke trails and little specs moving beyond 6-7KM.. and there are also lasers being shot by the things I intend to destroy in that game often times. But DCS? RoF? The only indication I have of someone being near me (Minus radar in DCS which I'm still learning) is a visual spotting of them. Spare me the "Labels aren't cheating". I'm using them when applicable now..but in the su-25t/su-27 training mission where I have to pick out the helicopter? I've figured out how to kill it in one pass rather than give him time to let his chaffs be effective, but before that? even when I'd hit f5/f6 and see that he was sitting still, I couldn't find him - I even heard him a few times as I flew really close to him. I was watching a video of a guy playing the p-51d module and he'd be like "Oh there he is!" and I wouldn't be able to see the plane he was tracking until he gained altitude and had a clear sky as a backdrop and even then I'd struggle to see what he was seeing. The reading I've been doing has me so confused.. I've never used the HDMI port on my laptop or my desktop.. It has a displayport.. will I be able to get a 60hz refresh rate out of a 60hz 1080p 40" display using display port or hdmi? or a displayport to hdmi adapter? I just want to be able to utilize visibility as a method of target aquisition, especially since I like flying prop planes as well. The bigger screen will be strictly for flying. I'd rather not have that much surface area to look at in an FPS or RTS game. ;)
  19. I wish you all the luck with that x-55. Never hurts to start googling and ask a local machining company what it would cost to make a spring to your specs. Or there's this! [ame] [/ame]
  20. I think eventually I might just try an older 1080p Sony Bravia or something with a vga port and go the dvi - vga route. They aren't terribly expensive. Just too much $$ to be spent trying to get into higher resolutions.
  21. I'm not sure what it is currently but when I ordered my Crosswinds like $1.09 USD = 1 euro, so it's not much different. Shipping would likely be high though. Would totally be offering to take those off your hands if I hadn't just broke the bank on a TM warthog as the rest of my saitek gear failed. Good luck with your Fat Mamba! Hope they're still making them in a couple years. I like the concept of switching grips out for different planes.
  22. Because your crosswinds will be hall sensors, with insane resolutions and the spring tension being adjustable with it's magnificent around the center cam profile is going to blow those combat pedals away. :P Not to mention being adjustable by replacing the cam.. not to mention nothing's being held together by plastic. If those combat pedals are anything like my pro flight pedals were.. Crosswinds will be miles ahead of them in construction and performance afaik tell. But if you want, I'll tell you more about how I feel about them when I get mine in March.
  23. Lol preaching to the wrong crowd about amd/ati. Never again. Never. :) My main gripe with the 34" and 35" curved monitors out there is that the view increase is0 horizontal. This might provide more peripheral view but call me mistaken if I am, the models of objects in the air or on the ground look to be about the same size they would be. I have TrackIR - scanning the horizon isn't the problem.. trying to pick a tiny little spec of nothing out of it is. I appreciate your opinion but at this point I'd like to hear from some people who have gone the low response time HDTV route, especially if they're using something other than HDMI out, to see if it's holding up for DCS. Particularly one that properly utilizes dvi input, if something like that even exists. I'm not going to play FPS's on the thing.
