  1. After searching the entire internet, I could not find anywhere to buy a single 'Angled' GX12 connector for my Gunfighter MkII..

So, I took a few of the 'bad' cables that I had saved over the years, and took them apart.  I used a grinder to cut 2 connectors apart at an angle.  (I tried cutting one connector to make the angle, but one just makes it too short. So, I cut two, one for the front, and another from the back.  And used the grinder to sand the angles to the correct angle.

I then unsoldered the wires from the socket and slid all of the parts onto the wire in the correct order, and soldered the wires back on like they were (see 1, 2, 3, 4 note in pic).  I slid the shrink tube up over the socket terminals as far as it would go, and then tested it all on my pc and stick.  It was working fine.

So, just in case it failed sometime in the future, I wanted to solder the casing together so that I could later unsolder in the future to make an repairs.  But the connector is made of stainless steel, which is pretty hard to solder.  So, I ended up using JB Weld.  It seems pretty solid so far, and I think it will work pretty good in the long run.  Time will tell..

  2. I have a mission with several different aircraft that are client, so the user can pick one and fly.

I have some triggers that set the XCockpit switches in the FA18, and plan on doing the same for other aircraft.  So, I need to differenciate between aircraft that the user is flying, and the type of aircraft.

The only thing that I could think of was to put a zone around the aircrafts on a runway or carrier.  And do a trigger..   But there is no condition like 'Unit Type is client' or 'Player is in Zone'.

Any ideas on how to do this??

I use JoyPro to get round that issue if it ever occurs - for reasons other than software update in my case - as it can restore your previous IDs or change DCS binds to the new one with a single button press.

I just download the 0092 version of JoyPro for the first time.  But it looks like it has all of the source code in it?  And it crashed when merged simple rudder pedal relations.  And the log referred to a folder that is not on my system (D:\Dropbox\Programmierung\c#\JoyPro\JoystickProfiler\JoyPro\JoyPro\..)   That download has over 387 files...  Where can I download a package release for end users??

  4. I just found out about JoyPro after installing a fresh new Windows 10..   But when I download the latest version 0092, it looks like it contains the programmer's source code.  There are over 20 'System.xxx' files, and in all, over 387 files in the entire download.  But the grim reaper's tutorial shows only a few files in his download...

I just also, tried my first Merge, and JP crashed.  The log had a lot of references to this folder: 'D:\Dropbox\Programmierung\c#\JoyPro\JoystickProfiler\JoyPro\JoyPro\...', which is not even on my system.

Where is the normal download, without all the source code??

  5. Add a Control Assignments Layer that would be a default for all aircraft, unless overridden by the specific aircrafts assignments.

Or is this already functional in the game somewhere????

I would like to assign some common commands there to the same Hat on my stick/throttle that would be used for every aircraft.   Specifically, things like Kneeboard commands, Trim commands, View Commands, Comms...   Even Axis like Pitch; Roll; Throttle would be great there.

are there any alternatives for this app? Ive used it for years, but tried using it for the first time in a while today and seems like its broken now.

    Look at my post above.

The error handling in this app is lacking.  I had moved some folders around manually, outside the app.  I finally found out that was the problem.  I had broken the app's naming conventions for it's file structure.  Once I fixed that, it worked fine again.

  7. UPDATE:

I figured out my problem, and it seems to be working again.  Some error handling in the code would help dumb people like me.

I added this exe to my Norton AV, and I think it might have helped stop it being suspend in Task Manager. (If it is Suspended in the Task Manager, click the windows Start button, and type Resource Monitor.  This app will open, and you can right-click on KneeboardBuilder.exe and let it 'Resume' processing.)   Time will tell.  It may have been caused by my file naming errors  listed below.

It's great that this app still works after 9 years.  Yes, it has some features that are no longer necessary.  I think 9 years ago you couldn't move the Kneeboard, or resize it.  It was designed for that time.

I had manually moved some files around in the 'Kneeboard Groups' folder, and I did not change their filenames to reflect their new folder names.  I found this .txt file somewhere in the sub folders of the install, and have now copied it to that 'Kneeboard Groups' folder.

    Kneeboard Builder:

To manually add Kneeboard Groups in this folder, they need to follow some simple rules:

New Aircraft Folder Names much match what Kneeboard Builder has in it's drop-down list.  Not what DCS uses.

The Files in the Folders must use the same name.
The Files have a dash and 3 digit number on the end.

  8. My problem is not with creating, it's with management.  I found another tool called KB Quick, but that one requires you to add each page one at a time.

I would write one myself except that I've been retired for too long to do it quickly.

It would be nice if the code was on GitHub and someone took an interest.

My main problem is that the app 'Suspends' often and I have to use the Resource Monitor to get it to Resume.  But worse is that when I click Build Kneeboards, it ignores half of what I have added to the list, and adds others and builds with them.  Very Strange behavior..

  9. Why can't we assign so many View commands to a Controller (other than just the mouse buttons)??

I know in some cases it make sense to not allow an Action to be assigned to a Controller.  But there are so many that are not allow to be assigned to a Controller that make no sense:

    • Wingman Camera
    • Supercarrier Camera
    • Jump to Supercarrier view
    • Aircraft carrier catapult crew camera
    • Aircraft carrier catapult camera
    • Camera Bookmarks editor, menu bar
    • Object Local Camera
    • Object Camera with position inheritance
    • Load camera position from clipboard
    • Unload camera position to clipboard

It would be so nice to be able to assign these commands with the other view commands, to an extra controller.

Also: Please make it easier to see which control boxes are disabled.  Dark Gray & Dark Blue are hard to see the difference even if you're not color blind.

  10. From my searches I've read that you can press the T/O Trim button, or the FCS button, or with the gear up and Flaps up to zero out the trim.

    But none of those work...

I'm testing this be just starting a flight in-air and trimming to the left/right for a significant roll.  And none of those solutions reset the trim.  I always still roll.

Has anybody figured this out??  🤨

  11. It would sure be nice if we could have hotkeys for the actions we can take in the Control Options.

    Like Alt-C to Clear
Instead of having to click on a control switch in the grid and have to move your cursor down to the Clear button every time?  If you have a lot of things to clear, that would be helpful.

Maybe some users would see hot keys for some of the other commands?
