  1. The trim switch is a 4 way switch isn't it? Imo calling it up is correct as you would also have to move it up in the real Apache for trim release.
  2. Thanks! At least I am not alone. I hope that this will improve soon ... My testing revealed that I got quite a bit of performance boost from disabling shadows. It is not pretty but better than a slideshow.
  3. Motherboard is B450 Tomahawk Max; As I wrote above it seems that I am bottlenecked by the CPU as the GPU still has headroom.

  6. Hi! Recently I noticed that my CPU usage when playing DCS online (VR) is 100% on two cores all the time, while my GPU usage is only around 80%. Does anyone have an idea what I can do to reduce this bottleneck? Would it help to reduce the preload radius (currently at 35k)? Thank you!   7. 64 GB RAM as a requirement for acceptable VR performance is insane! If this trend continues, soon we all will need a mainframe to run DCS properly. I feel like the DCS performance decreases quicker, than the hardware can scale.
  8. Your hardware is probably in the top 0.5% of all users. If you are having problems it must be a major problem with the software...
  9. It turns out it indeed was the model from the VR scene. Installing the update again resolved the problem. For people who still have the problem you can also do the following: open /DCS/Scripts/sceneVR.lua and remove the following: scene.m = sceneAPI:addModel("su-27", 0, 2.4, 0); scene.m:setArgument(0, 1); scene.m:setArgument(3, 1); scene.m:setArgument(5, 1); scene.m:setArgument(4, 0.25); scene.m:setArgument(6, 0.25); scene.m:setArgument(115, 1); scene.m:setArgument(116, 1); scene.m:setArgument(117, 1);
  10. EDIT: SOLVED - see my next post. Hi! Since this update my DCS crashes everytime during startup, after authorization. I attached the crash report including dxdiag. The crash log says # C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at BFF638C0 00:00000000 Any ideas on what the reason could be? I have never had such crashes before. Repair and cleanup did not help. I am running VR with a Samsung Odyssey+. Edit: I reverted to the last version, which did not help. It says 2020-05-20 17:17:08.144 ERROR VISUALIZER: demoscene: model su-27 not found To me this sounds like the background of the VR scene. Did this change? Did the update maybe screw up this scene?   14. As someone living in a vivid democracy, it is obvious to me, that discussion is the only way to converge to a collective opinion. If the majority community feels mistreated they have to organize and voice their complaints. Discussion should never be discouraged, even if to some it seems to be useless or even threatening. There is one more scenario: Releasing the Viper into EA in a more finished state and also starting the pre-order period later on. I have the feeling that ED has too much on their plate right now. It usually does not end well for companies to overestimate their own resources.
  15. The thing about transparency is, that it is only useful in combination with accountability. If ED was accountable for all the promises they broke, we would live in a different world. This is by the way my first complaint in 3.5 years as a member in these forums. In the last month ED has lost my trust, which really makes me sad as it takes years to build trust, but only a second to destroy it. I am not sure if ED is aware of that.   18. Hi everyone! My PC specs are as follows: Ryzen 3700x 32GB DDR4 @ 3200 MHz GTX 1070 Samsung 850 EVO SSD Samsung Odyssey+ HMD I am using the VR Low preset and a Steam VR PD of 1.3. Recently I noticed that my GPU usage is only around 50% (according to the task manager). In single player I get a lot of frames (45+ at all times), in multiplayer I get only 30 FPS (GPU still at 50%, VRAM utilization is almost 8 GB). I am quite certain, that a 3700x should not bottleneck a GTX 1070. Hence I performed a CPU benchmark, which yielded exceptional results for single threaded performance (2990 points at passmark). I attached some screenshots from CPU-Z and the benchmark software. Please note that the clock is only so low on the CPU-Z image, because it was in idle. At load the single core clock goes up to 4.4 GHz. Do you have any ideas how to increase the GPU usage and to gain FPS? :helpsmilie: Thank you!
  19. Does anyone know if there will be some kind of software enhancement to make the MFD contents readable in average VR HMDs? I feel like in the F/A-18C the text scales a bit when moving the head further away.
  20. I am having the same problem. Ping in the server browser is very high but on the server it is normal. Did you find any fix? Edit: as it turns out the pings are much better when connecting via VPN. (pic: https://imgur.com/a/eFFs6Se)
  21. That seems to be the issue to me. I also have 16 GB and it uses more than 15 GB as well. As soon as I click on the smart trim function the RAM usage from DCS goes down significantly without noticing any change in the game. When playing on large missions the trimmed RAM is low but when playing on average missions it can be multiple GBs. Since I am doing this I have significantly less problems. I still have a freeze here and there but very rarely.
