  1. Thanks BrumTx, I'll try the uninstall of LOMAC tonight. Thanks again.
  2. BrumTx, Yes, I had done the regedit clearing as well as the deleting of the left-over folders. What I have not done is a complete uninstall of LockOn/ Flaming Cliffs yet or resintall it. I am trying to avoid having to do this, but it looks like it might be the shortest route. This will be the last time I update Modman on my computer unless absolutely required.
  3. Vekkinho, I thought of that too, mind that I first tried with those files in place. But then I did not delete those files but just moved them. I tried putting them back also and still nothing. So I tried with the files in place, without them and with them put back to no avail. I wish they would fix Modman to prevent this from happening. Now I remember why I hesitated for so long upgrading beyond 6.3.0.1
  4. Mine is still messed up. I have emptied my screenshots folder, temp folder and even moved the files from the temptextures folder to a desktop folder, but Modman 7.1.1.0 still hangs on me at the checking FID message. I left it running last night for over 1 hr, but it never came back. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times. Clearing the registry of everything "Modman" and then reinstalling. I even tried reinstalling the 6.3.0.1 version but it now does the same thing the latest install wants to do. Not sure what else to do here, so if someone has information on how to fix this please post it.
  5. Anyone ever resolve this with Modman? I have the same problem when I tried to install Modman 7.1.1.0 from Modman 6. Followed instructions a=but hangs as the 1st poster here.
  6. My personal experience and experiments sum up to my suggesting that if you want to run BlackShark with the most amount of FPS possible, that you don't install it under XP. Better to do as most of us do and install Vista in a dual-boot configuration (leaving most all of your sims and games in XP) and boot into Vista (32 or 64bit) for BlackShark setting your affinity using one of the many forms on these forums (just do a search for "affinity") to your dual or quad core processor for a very noticeable in-game fps increase. On one of my pc's, I even created a triple boot with XP installed first, then Vista x64 bit and then Windows7 Beta. I have Blackshark installed on all 3 OS's and it runs good-fast in XP, runs even better-faster in Vista and in Windows7 it runs the fastest. All of these tested with the same max graphics settings, on the same pc, just different Operating Systems. For help with dual booting XP and Vista (with XP installed first) or dual booting Vista and XP (with Vista installed first) just google for these terms and you will find plenty of help. When dual booting, use BCDEdit or VistaBootPro (there are still sites offering this 2nd one for free) to edit and customize your dual boot system to boot the way you desire. You can have it so that XP boots 1st by default if no button is pressed or Vista, up to you.
  7. Not even worth trying to set the affinity in XP (32 or 64) everyone, many of us have tried it from every angle, when BS Russian version first became available. Now on Vista32, Vista64 and Windows7 it works real well, as you get huge perfromance gains setting the game to run on multiple cores manually.
  8. defcon, run it in Vista and use the affinity tweaks here on this forum ( search for it, I use Jesse's but there are 3 or 4 of them) and gain even better fps on that system. Many of us have installed Vista as a dual boot for this very reason.
  9. probably better to deactivate it first, since you won't lose that activation anyways.
  10. It sure is Flanker15, this is one of the reasons when it was first discovered, I tested it to make sure on two different dual boot systems using both XP and Vista ( both 32 and 64 bit OS's) and reported that I would have never believed it, but yet Blackshark is a great reason to move to the Vista operating system since it runs it better than XP does.
  11. If you read throughout the forums on this topic ( affinity and dual cores) you will find that with XP, there is no fix to get more fps. But using Vista's operating system (32 and 64 bit versions) you can see as much as 20 fps more than you get with XP.
  12. llama, in an effort to help you, please let us know a few things. 1st: What OS are you using? (The tweak is for Vista) 2nd: Make sure you follow the instructions listed in this and other forums listed within this one via links. The entire contents of Wombats scripts (found at bottom of 1st page of this thread) should be unzipped and the individual files put into the root of the KA-50 folder ( not in their own folder ). Create a shortcut and use only the appropriate *.cmd file, example: there are 2 core and 4 core cmd files. Instructions here: Download the file attached to this post. Extract contents to your x:\Program Files (x86)\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50 this is the default location. Replace the SP and MP shortcuts on your desktop with shortcuts to the appropriate SP and MP .cmd files.
  13. Wow, very nice mission. Successfully completed it, I like the message at the end when arriving back at the base...nice touch!!!! Thank-you ronht for making these missions.
  14. As soon as I get the info I will post it for you graywo1f. I am now contemplating making a glove for my left hand, so that I can leave my right hand on the stick at all times.
  15. Very nice mission Mbot, I really enjoyed this one a ton! The radio transmissions, battles going on everywhere, tanks rolling across the plains, the feel of very realistic ground troops in action and repositioning, etc. Recon work was a big plus and the immersion was intense. Amazing work to say the least! On my 2nd try of the mission, I got a mission success, 12 kills, including a Kiowa, but lost my wingman. I also got the badge for Courage. Excellent mission and look forward to any more that you may share with us. Thank-you MBot!!
  16. Great Chillspider, I think we all knew that yours wasn't being set to all cores automatically since the games software purposely sets it to use but a single core. That is why we kept stating in-game and not the launcher which is more like In-Menu only. :) Glad you figured it out and now have more FPS to boot. I now just need to figure out why "Process.exe" is being stopped by User Account Control on one of my Vista machines.
  17. If you are running Vista, and try the affinity tweak and in game do not get an increase in fps, it is probably due to something preventing it from being set. This just happened to me, I haven't figured it out yet, but I am having to set it manually again each time I fly. Wombats script seems to be working but the "process.exe" file is being blocked ( even after I set ownership rights, etc. for it ) and even though it all starts up fine, I noticed my affinity was not being set to both cores (on one of my systems). So I am having to use SetAffinity II manually after I start the game ( game=DCS.exe not the launcher = launcher.exe) by alt-tabbing out and clicking to use the 2nd core. The problem seems to be User Account Control is blocking the process.exe file from starting. If I turn off UAC, then it works fine, but to turn off UAC it takes a reboot... and the same to turn it back on. I know full well the "leave UAC off" discussion, but UAC is a protective system within Vista that I wish to leave on. Mind, this does not occur on Vista on my quad core system. Once I figure the fix for this I will post it up.
  18. I use CH Pro Pedals for my rudder. They work great, and wheel brakes on the toe brake function. Strannick, go into the CH User Interface ( control manager) and set your rudder axis for whatever you want ( JoyZ, RZ, etc..) then in Blackshark, set it to the same axis for the rudder under the CH Pro Pedals column. For toe brakes, you do the same thing... set either the left or right ( or both individually) to a different controller ( 1,2,3 ) setting and assign either RZ, YZ, etc.. and then in game set the wheel brakes to the same. Always remember to go thru your controls in-game and "clear" the entries for areas that are auto assigned that will conflict with your controller inputs. In other words, when you set the CH Pedals to lets say JoyZ for rudder control in the CH Control Manager, you go in game and set the rudder to JoyZ under the CH Rudder Pedal column, if you look around to the left and right on the same rudder line, you may find that your joystick also has something assigned to rudder...Clear this entry so you dont have conflicts. I do this for everything in game.
  19. Very useful to me, kept me alive one mission. I was auto-hovering behind a hillside, shooting an armored column safely from far away when I get a "warning attack" betty call, so I looked around and saw nothing , looked up just in time to see a dark spec on the mirror of an attack helicopter getting into position behind me to shoot me down, he even fired off a few rounds but luckily I took lite damage and managed to get away quick and after a brief chase, I swung around behind another hillside and shot him down with guns.
  20. The glove I purchased cost approx 9.00 from SportsAuthority, it is from a company called HEAD their Renegade model Racquetball glove. The glove is like a second skin, very thin and great for flying as the backside is not leather which makes for great ventilation preventing the hand from sweating. I purposely stayed away from full leather gloves like Golf gloves or baseball gloves as there is no liner and they can make your hands sweat quite easily. The other good reason to stay away from full leather is this gloves synthetic backside and over the top of the fingers allows you to slide your finger over the LCD without "stiction" and without creating marks on your lcd screen. My trackir sits ontop of my 37" 1080p LCD monitor, and I haven't had to move it. I use TrackIR3 with Vector Expansion Clip and no interference so far. The wii-remote is located to my left at 45 deg mounted on-top of a 2 foot cardboard tube that is about 3 in in dia. So far it works great. I recommend getting a small laser and tape it to the top of the wii remote during your setup so you can aim it to the center area of your dsiplay. This helped me. Graywo1f, I will have to post back here from work to find out what switch it was that they gave me at work.
  21. Hardest part is figuring out a way to mount the wii-remote so it "sees" the whole screen.
  22. Thank you once more Jonk for coming up with this and showing us how to do it for ourselves! Here are images and text on how my project has come along so far, I have yet to now tuck the wires thru another tiny side hole in the finger so that the wires run inside the glove, and exit on the backside of my hand, to the tiny watch battery compartment I have under the velcro strap. Check out my images HERE Here is an image to show how very small the switch is alongside a dime. ** The final product, with the wires neatly running down the inside of the glove, and the battery compartment located under the velcro strap on the backside of my palm.
  23. As redtail mentioned earlier in this thread, you will get the most from Vista and your gaming experience if you turn off some things in Vista to game. The way I do this is 1st turn off the siddebar ( you can always turn it back on after your done). Then right click your games .exe file ( for blackshark this is the DCS.exe, not the launcher.exe), right click it and check the boxes to run as administrator, and Disable Desktop Composition. This latter entry turns off the Aero themes and all the eye candy items when your blackshark game starts giving you much of your systems power back for gaming. The aero theme and all the eye candy reactivates automatically once you exit the game too. Hope this helps those stepping into Vista for gaming.
  24. Wombat, I tried your DSCAFF and method and could not get it to work. Then I noticed something in that for this to work, you have to disable the UAC (User Account Control), then it works just fine. Up until now, I have been using SetAffinityII or doing it manually, but your method works great without UAC turned on. Anyone else able to verify if it works with UAC on?
