  1. As I read more and more about this new full fidelity Mig-29, it is becoming less likely I will spend any money to purchase it. Seems like a probable waste of money. I might be wrong but nothing I have read so far leads me to believe it will be much better than the FC3 version and will probably be just as useless.
  2. The Mig-29 is a beautiful plane but will it have an AWACS datalink? If it doesn't, it will be a very expensive version of an almost useless FC3 plane...... As a person who flies mainly REDFOR aircraft, I won't be buying it if it doesn't have an AWACS datalink......Just Saying.....
  3. The boys over at ~SCAR~ really enjoy Operation Jupiter and would love to see another 332nd mission! Looking forward to it! But we would also really like the chevron labels to be turned on!. Makes the mission less realistic but much more fun to fly! Thanks!
  4. Surrexen, Do you maintain the 332nd Operation Jupiter server? If you do, could you turn the chevron labels back on? We really liked having a server that was fun and you could see the targets. If you are the one who can do that, we would appreciate it. We already have several "realistic" servers that are very difficult to fly in. We need a good WWII server that is fun! Thanks! I know this is the wrong thread...Sorry!
  5. Check out the Strike Package server- Contention. Good missions for both red and blue. Syria map is modern armament with pl-12 and pl-8 for the J-11. Sinai map is mid cold war. No fox 3 missiles on either side. Makes for a very good, competitive arena.
  6. I think the best thing DCS could do for the community is develop a REDFOR aircraft that is in the same category as the F-18 or F-16. I know, I know....."we cant do that because we don't have the technical information". We don't have the technical information on the advanced AIM-9X or the advanced AIM-120 either but we somehow manage to model them. We dont have the specifications on the TOR or the NASAM but we model them in DCS. We are constantly making improvements to radars and missiles on the BLUFOR aircraft. Does that mean we got better info? Then how did we model these thing when they first came out. Did we guess at the performance based on available data? Why cant we guess at the performance of an R-77-1 or a PL-15? We can't guess at the performance of the REDFOR aircraft and missiles because it would make BLUFOR's life harder and BLUFOR aircraft are the ones being developed for future sale. There are no real REDFOR aircraft being developed. The F-4 may see REDFOR usage... maybe, but nothing made in this century! I know that I am not the only one. I like DCS a lot but it is becoming a PVE game! Sorry about the rant!
  7. Do the Wild Wolves let people join your server to fly as REDFOR or are your servers PVE?
  8. Only true REDFOR aircraft are in FC. Not probable that we will get a FF REDFOR module
  9. Which Growling sidewinder server? The Urban Thunder Hardcore one? Maybe I'll drag the fellas in there tonight and try it out.
  10. Those are nice pics! A J-11 with pl-12s would be a game changer for REDFOR
  11. An actual working R-77-1 would make a big difference. ED can model more modern soviet/russian aircraft for AI but they cant model a R-77-1 because " we don't have enough information on it". Then how can we have an SU-35 AI but no R-77-1. As BLUFOR aircraft receive more and more improvements and updates, REDFOR becomes less viable. The introduction of the F_15E and the upcoming Eurofighter puts another nail in the coffin of peer to peer combat. I think the clock is ticking on DCS. ED doesn't care about REDFOR and I think it will be its undoing. It is a matter of time before a competitor come in to challenge DCS. I don't think DCS will hold up to real competition. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some aspects of DCS, but if a real competitor came along .......WHO KNOWS?
  12. As a player that exclusively flies REDFOR aircraft, I have noticed that most MP servers do not include REDFOR aircraft and when they do, they place them on the map so it strongly discourages REDFOR pilot participation. This is a phenomenon that I truly do not understand. I search the list of available servers everyday and find it almost impossible to find a server that includes REDFOR aircraft assignments in their missions with a series of tasks that can lead to REDFOR victory. What is the attraction to BLUFOR PVE missions in MP? You fly against a computer sim, not a real thinking person in the other cockpit. That just sounds like single player with friends. I guess that has an appeal but I don't truly understand it. Are we ever gonna see a server that offers both sides a chance to win while making strategy and tactics important components? A server that that doesn't require REDFOR to fly 200 miles only to be killed by a one of a hundred BLUFOR manpads or find critical items are indestructible (all of this usually without AWACS coverage). Sadly, it seems to me that even with much better aircraft and armaments, BLUFOR mission designers feel they are at a disadvantage. They set up missions with lots of things for them to kill but with very little chance of coming up against a REDFOR that will actually fight back. With the exception of the SD-10 ( which has its performance parameters changed daily it seems) REDFOR doesn't even have a truly functional fox 3 missile (R-77s have less range that an R-73). Where are the mission designers that will set up a real mission that is fun and challenging for both sides to fly, that is persistent, and presents new challenges each time you log in? One that keeps red aircraft on red side and blue aircraft on blue side. Puts reasonable limits on weapons, like only 2 aim-54s. Gives both sides the chance to win, AND FORCES BOTH SIDES TO FIGHT AGAINST REAL OPPOSING PILOTS in most cases! DCS is becoming a PVE game. It might sell a lot of F-15E's but it is slowly killing a great air combat sim. AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT FEELS THIS WAY? Sorry for the rant!
  13. SharpeXB ......... I bet you fly at 1080 or in VR........ I bet you see the dots at 1080 or lower resolution so this mod doesn't affect you much. And I haven't heard of any changes to this mod to make the aircraft appear as "BIG ORANGE DOTS OR WHATEVER". And flying at a lower res than your monitor so you can see aircraft is NOT cheating, right? ED is being silly and avoiding responsibility for something they should have fixed years ago when higher resolution monitors became very common. This problem has been here for YEARS! still no solution..... Kinda like the AAMRAM model and the sd-10 model and the r-77 model and the F-16 and the F-18. They almost never finish anything. 10 years from now the F-15E will still be unfinished. They have no peer competition to pressure performance AND we continue to buy half finished modules. We are partly responsible for the way they act.... sorry about the rant!
  14. Then why isn't the mod allowed to pass IC until you fix it? That makes no sense....those at 1080 can see just fine...1440 and 4k blind as can be until it is too late....does that make any kind of sense to you at ED? Everyone here knows that "we're working on it" from ED means it will take months or years to be fixed. Won't be holding my breath until you release "a fix".
  15. Can we not replace that wallpaper picture with a good UH-60L picture......there has to be thousands of them out there.......
  16. Removing the dot is an option. If you remove the dot completely, as SharpeXB suggested, it would level the playing field, but would make the game unplayable for some and so unpleasant for many that it would affect DCS's bottom line. DCS should just make the fully rendered aircraft appear out of thin air at 1/4 mile from you. SURPRISE, here I am! Only kidding but DCS has made no effort to solve this problem in the 7 or 8 years I have been playing it and people have been complaining about it for well over 7 or 8 years. I suspect they could care less about fixing it now. Since DCS has no real peer competition, I thinks it can do what it wants and what it wants is to sell more modules, which we buy even if they are very incomplete and after years still are not finished. No, DCS is not gonna fix this distance/resolution scaling issue simply because it doesn't have too. If there was true peer competition to DCS, they would fix more problems and produce more complete modules. They would also do more to offer a balance to REDFOR. They can simulate an su-35 in AI but cant model an effective R-77-1. What DCS needs is a newer BLUFOR aircraft...Maybe a Eurofighter with satellite guided meteor missiles or maybe lasers, only partially complete of course, on presale now at 30% off. sorry for the rant....
  17. If the 1080p player can see a big old black dot at 5 miles, then a 1440 player should see a black dot of exactly the same size at 5 miles even if it means rendering several dots to make it equal size. ED should incorporate this mod into the game code.
  18. This dot mod made DCS much more playable for me at a resolution of 1440. I don't think it gave me any advantage over the 1080p player or the VR players. If anything it leveled our spotting capabilities and eliminated an advantage that they had over me. As a player that has a higher resolution monitor, it is VERY difficult for me to spot aircraft in DCS, and it is totally DCS's fault. This has been a known problem for ages. They give an advantage to lower resolution players whether they admit it or not. A player at 1080 can see targets more clearly and farther away than a 1440p player. The size of the single dot that is rendered gives them a HUGE advantage. ED should either fix the scaling/resolution equation or allow the dot mod to pass IC. Sorry for the rant.........
  19. GroovyJerry, why no F5? DCS zoom function is so bad it makes it very difficult for average pilots to identify aircraft. Before when you had F5 active, I truly enjoyed flying in Wolfpack. Now it is impossible for me to fly in there. I am a sitting duck. There were so many people in there flying and having a good time and then you eliminated F5. Now there are only a few pilots and most are transient. They don't stay long and only return on and off. F5 does not give any real advantage, it simply keeps friendly fire down and helps to IFF. Perhaps it is not completely realistic, but without a functioning external zoom, visual identification is very difficult. Put back the F5 function. It adds so much to the average pilots ability to enjoy the server without compromising realism. Think of it as having a set of binoculars in the cockpit, which is VERY realistic. I am sure many people feel this way. Sorry for the rant......
  20. The JF-17 is a pretty good aircraft, a very complete module for a change. But the changing capabilities of the SD-10 and the LD-10 make it an unknown quantity sometimes. It also smokes too much and can be spotted more easily that an F-16 or F-18. They should adjust that! Overall a good aircraft but not as good capable as an F-16. If both are available on the red side, most choose to fly the Viper.
  21. After a few more hours of practice, I have learned to "guide" the Dora a lot better. Pulling smoothly into turns and keeping airspeed high has made me a lot more competitive against most fighters. The Spit is the exception. Still haven't figure the correct tactic against it. Flying in pairs seems to be the most effective tactic. Thanks for the information. It really helped me alot!
  22. Unfortunately adding a more modern, updated J-11 would not really help DCS. The trend towards PVE has really taken hold. I doubt that if they gave REDFOR the absolutely newest REDFOR aircraft available in the world with the most modern weapons that it would change this trend. Most BLUFOR servers don't like to fight REDFOR pilots. They do not include REDFOR aircraft and when they do, most make it very difficult to participate. They place REDFOR aircraft very far away from the action, don't include AWACS or EWR support and sometime limit loadouts to 27R and 27T missiles. Adding an effective FOX 3 missile would be nice, R-77-1 or PL-12 but don't count on it. They can simulate an SU-33 AI but cant simulate a decent R-77-1. Makes you wonder why BLUFOR can go up against an AI SU-33 but not a real person in an SU-27 with similar weapons.............. Sorry about the rant!
  23. Appears to cause no problems with the integrity check......
