  1. I play almost everyday DCS. Noticed after last Microsoft security update that I also was getting similar stutters. May want to check that also. I had to go as far as uninstalling last Microsoft update because of several broken things in last MS patch. Hope this helps a little. Blue Skies
  2. I dont know what has changed since last OB update to both single thread and MT, but BORT numbers show up all over every aircraft, doubling in some cause depending on skins. Is this going to be normal behaviour or will there be a fix? and could there possibly be made an option to turn off BORT completely?
  3. Sounds like Nvidia driver problem. Try an older driver. The new drivers cause stutter problems.
  4. Also confirm at straight and level flight @ 130kts with no weapons the amount of trimmer pressure is extreme along with extreme left pedal to try and keep bird at speed @ 133kts the oscillation, tilting, yaw, and kitchen sink start going crazy and flight continues to become unstable the faster you go, if you can even reach 150kts. Helicopter may hover ok at 0-60kts, but the rest of flight envelop as you go faster goes out the window. Next question would be what's the normal operating speed? 100-120kts. Even at those speeds not very stable. This is just more negative with hopes next update will get better. After deleting flight controls and starting over flight now seems good and stable.
  5. Thanks to all who made this possible and the wonderful videos by Wags, Casmo, and other community members who share their insight from development to flight. It makes enjoying this beast all the better.

  7. Awesome work ED! so many little things from views to lights on deck during landings and many other details. Loving it!
  8. Thanks for all you do ED. Amazing to see how far everything has come over the years. Keep up the great work.
  9. Nice April fools. Go me too! weather on my flight was bad so came as big surprise, but hey emergency procedures:) Loved it!
  10. Hope this helps! Ive noticed this on quite a few skins where bort numbers overlay:( edit description file and add these entries. --F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_DECAL {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_DECAL", 0, "f16_bl50_main_1", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_DECAL", 1, "f16_bl50_main_1_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_DECAL", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_1_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_DECAL", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_001 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_001", 0, "f16_bl50_main_1", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_001", 1, "f16_bl50_main_1_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_001", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_1_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_001", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_010 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_010", 0, "f16_bl50_main_1", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_010", 1, "f16_bl50_main_1_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_010", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_1_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_010", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_100 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_100", 0, "f16_bl50_main_1", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_100", 1, "f16_bl50_main_1_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_100", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_1_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_100", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_001 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_001", 0, "f16_bl50_main_2", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_001", 1, "f16_bl50_main_2_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_001", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_2_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_001", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_010 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_010", 0, "f16_bl50_main_2", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_010", 1, "f16_bl50_main_2_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_010", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_2_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_010", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_100 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_100", 0, "f16_bl50_main_2", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_100", 1, "f16_bl50_main_2_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_100", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_2_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_100", DECAL, "empty", true}; ---F16_bl50_FIN_DECAL {"F16_bl50_FIN_DECAL", 0, "f16_bl50_kil", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_DECAL", 1, "f16_bl50_kil_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_DECAL", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_kil_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_DECAL", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_001 {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_001", 0, "f16_bl50_kil", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_001", 1, "f16_bl50_kil_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_001", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_kil_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_001", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_010 {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_010", 0, "f16_bl50_kil", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_010", 1, "f16_bl50_kil_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_010", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_kil_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_010", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_100 {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_100", 0, "f16_bl50_kil", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_100", 1, "f16_bl50_kil_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_100", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_kil_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_100", DECAL, "empty", true};
  11. Since the beginning of Flight Sims theres always been add-on user mods, skins, etc...and we all know that along with the goods comes the bads. Sometimes its a bad mod and sometimes its installed incorrectly and sometimes people dont have a clue how to install them. Since there's much potential of paywares and new features of 2.5 wouldn't it be nice to have a free add-on dropbox? A place a person could take a 3rd party add-on and just drop it in the box, then DCS would check the files for integrity and then properly install the add-on. This would end decades of hassles and messing up a good program like DCS. What do you think? Has this been dicussed before? Could it be a future feature to DCS?
  12. Thank you +1 :thumbup: Thank you, ED
  13. Happy Place So much good info here and around forums to which settings are working best and seeing some nice photos/videos:) Currently for me and starting this post I have tried just about every setting for graphics with both AMD 380X to 1080ti, but for sake of argument we'll leave 1080ti out as most times im not on my good rig and 1080 can handle max everything. It seems on 2x-4x AA and 16x AF, DS (on) DCS has improved in some ways, but when AA on in-game I get funky blue tint/color issue and weird effects at times (like rain effect on sunny day lol, and blue shadows which if blue tint then offsets DCS DS(on) initial appearance and natural lighting. Some may like this, but not I, just weird. Performance also suffers a bit as using old AA technique versus newer game related options FXAA, SMAA or card based options. I'm old so I had to learn about new effect filters myself:) I enjoy DCS to the fullest and the only SIM I play, but I'm probably not up on the latest topics or direction DCS is going in future, just trying to enjoy the experience. Currently I'm running no in-game AA and 16x AF, DS(on). I'm using ReShade for (FXAA,SMAA) filters as AMD doesn't have these options. Nvidia does have FXAA and effects comparable and Nvidia FXAA a weee bit better. Next I turned down game settings where applicable to give best visual/performance. Like ground textures (low), shadows (medium), etc. tweaked trees/clutter/preload distance to best visuals/performance. Should also mention I'm running 2.2 gamma and trying to keep true to neutral settings without changing gamma. Yes, it's bright, but hey! the sun is bright lol, I know everyones systems are different and tastes. (1.8-2.2) looks good:) and depends on other factors night/day/aircraft/TV/VR many little things to iron out yet. Also your TV/monitor has brightness/contrast/other controls. Remote sometimes easier to tweak brightness quick(lazy). So back to this graphic thing:) ReShade (SMAA, FXAA) tweaks. SMAA does good job with clarity, but does leave some hard edges comparable to 2xAA, so FXAA helps blurry things up to hide the hard edges. I did tweak each (SMAA,FXAA) settings to find best visual. Both effect are light weight in resources and don't effect performance much. Usually I'm using EdTracker to turn my head in-game and getting 45-60fps and new effects,explosions, objects, etc. don't really hurt frames much in DCS2.5, very nice! I think I could watch explosions on the ground all day lol and for once playing more Combined Arms. Driving in the water rocks! hehe Here's my Reshade settings if anyone interested: [FXAA.fx] Subpix=0.050000 EdgeThreshold=0.250000 EdgeThresholdMin=0.000000 [sMAA.fx] EdgeDetectionType=1 EdgeDetectionThreshold=0.800000 MaxSearchSteps=98 MaxSearchStepsDiagonal=16 CornerRounding=0 DebugOutput=0 For me at this present time I'm more than satified with DCS 2.5 visuals/performance with exception to bugs and too many to list, but I'm sure mentioned somewhere in the forums and will get fixed in the future. There's many broken things in life that take time to fix, so its not much different I guess. I've flown many aircraft in broken stages throughout my life the only difference is simulation you can't die:) Happy simming! and thanks to all who replied and others who helped with their posts.
  14. settings work good I just wanted to post update to this post. Thanks all that commented and the above settings work good, Thanks Droopy! DCS still doesn't grab setting from graphic card setup for AA/AF, but maybe in the future. Also like to note: 2.5 is simply amazing with deferred shading and lighting effects, trees, weapon effects, clouds, etc... Performance is real good also. Hats off to the DCS devs, very nice!
